Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
This is for me more than anyone else here on the board. But I'll start it off. I'm tired of b**ching and whining about who's gone, who we let go, and who we should have kept.
They're gone, and nothing's changing that. Let's cheer for who's here and not whine about who's gone or who we want back. We have some damn good talent on this squad! Yes, we should have kept Pierce and a few others...name yours if you want, but I'm leaving mine right here in this thread, hopefully never to brought up again. As an aside, we had 10 players in the starting lineup at season's end that were drafted as a Redskin. I'd like to see more, but I think in today's NFL that's not bad. |

So here's my ranting::soapbox: Antonio Pierce Ryan Clark Walt Harris Period. |
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
:) Here's my rant then I vow to be positive from now on Scout's Honor:
:soapbox:: 1) Why the F*ck don't we have a hands off owner and a good talent evaluator for a GM? :bdh: 2) Why did we get rid of Pierce, Clark, Smoot, and keep Bailey happy? 3) Why can't we keep the same coaching staff in place with zero changes for longer than 3 years? 4) WHY....OH WHY....OH WHY?!?!?!?!?.........:Flush: :drink ok...I'm better now. |
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
Who was pushing to keep Walt Harris last year??
Talk about a perfect example of hindsight being 20/20. |

I've got a lot fo BS, but I'm leaving this particular one here....I hope:) Yeah, everybody was jumping all over Walt Harris last year. Almost as bad as AA. |
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
As long as the Skins keep losing, as fans it's hard not to examine the possible reasons for it. It all has to do with the players upon which this team is built.
If you no longer want to see people complain about the players, the roster, the wasted draft picks, the lack of draft picks, the players that were released, traded, or let go -- then you'll have to wait for this organization to turn the corner and build a consistent winner. Until that happens, people will complain about the construction of the team, and the players we should have retained. The noble idea of this thread will quickly vanish if there's another sub-.500 season. |
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
Good thinking! This is one of the greatest threads on the Warpath! It needs to be displayed somewhere so it is not lost after 3 or 4 days.
I don't complain (much) about players that were let go. I guess lately I've been on AA's case so I'll let it drop from here on out. |

This thread is simply my own personal, public committment to stop bringing it up. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm still unhappy about a lot of things, the roster moves and so forth, but I've talked my eye balls out at this point. I'm just trying to kick a bad habbit, that's all. |
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
Let me throw this challenge out there too. How many teams finished the season with more than 10 starters in the lineup that were actually drafted by said team??

Not to mention that the entire NFC East SUCKED this year. Not one of them was really good in my opinon. This year was a total bust - ONWARD AND UPWARD!! |

It looks like we really missed an opporotunity this year. But you have to figure, Tiki's absence will hurt the Giants no matter what and it doesn't look like Eli has progress very much, if at all. Throw in a possible coaching change in Big D and NY. We return just about all starters, draft a few solid prospects and we might not be in bad shape. |

Talk about a perfect example of hindsight being 20/20.
Who's whining that we got rid of him now? (I know lots of people are, but why?) He racked up a bunch of INTs playing in a D far superior to ours. He's not any better than Kenny Wright, and I believe Wright came cheaper. They are both sure tacklers and have coverage issues. I was really, really, really sour when Pierce signed with NY, because he was and still is one of my favorite players in the league. But we've won more playoff games without him than NY has won with him, so I've come to peace with it. He's gone, let it go. |

Now THAT'S a good point. Thank you for making it. When I whine about players gone, I'm not really whining about the players. I'm whining about the decision making. Unless I/we understand what's changed (or who has changed), there's no real reason to think next year will be any better. But that's a lot of insider info we won't see. Roster changes are easy to see. So bitch bitch bitch. |
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
of all the guys the skins let go,i think the one that hurt more than all the others combined was pierce.but he's not a skin anymore,so time to move on!

Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
I don't get this thread....our personnel moves have been by and large disastrous and now you propose to stop discussing them - after what some have called the most disappointing season in franchise history? Should we only start threads about what a monster year Marshall is going to have next year?
|
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
yeah your right, we should all stop bitching, but its not going to happen as long as this organization keeps making stupid decisions....

It is what it is. Not bashing other threads. Just a thread to drop off your who's not here baggage. I'm personally done with recycling the same old names over and over again. |

Thanks, Hog1. That's pretty impressive on the Skins part, if you ask me. We (me included) constantly talk about the turnover, which we've had. But I'm slowly starting to realize we have a pretty stable situation here. I'm willing to bet there aren't more than 3 or 4 offensive lines that have been together longer than ours. |

I hear you. I think the argument some would make against that is that our bench doesn't have a lot of people we drafted. That most other teams have used the later rounds of the draft to get young guys who can fill the roster. Whereas we overpay for past their prime free agents. |

No, that's a legit argument, and I'm there. I guess I've always assumed that it was the other way around though. I was just pleasantly suprised that we had that many starters we actually drafted. |

...and trade away draft picks like they grow on trees. |
Re: Warpath Official Stop Crying Over Who's Not Here Thread.
12th, I think you might be missing the point of why some people, myself included, are "whining about the past."
I don't bitch and moan about missed opportunities and lost players simply so I can up my post count and have something to whine about. I think the consistent inability to retain valuable players has been the downfall of this organization. As far as I am concerned, the point is not to whine about players from the past, the point is to highlight exactly why this team is where it is, and why it might have problems in the future. Sticking my head in the sand and ignoring the past just seems naive. History is always an excellent indicator of future performance. Not perfect, not flawless, but a hell of a lot better than an optimistic hunch or good feelings about next season. In the words of George Santayana, “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” |

But anyway, so long as we're not consistently in the playoffs people have a right to be upset. |

Okay here's my thought process and tell me if I'm still missing something here...seriously. I'm not saying it's wrong or that people should no longer post or discuss the current situation with regard to our process of obtaining and releasing players. Neither am I saying, ignore everything and let's just move on from the topic all together. What I am saying is, I've personally failed to look at and appreciate the talent that we currently have and the people that we have drafted because I've been so caught up and focused on the failed opportunities for the most part. So, I said to self..."self, I think it's a good idea for me to not specifically keep mentioning AP and a few others we've lost because whenever Marshall or Rogers or whomever had a bad game it would piss me off that much more and wishing they were here. This is getting way too deep for me:( |
