Marcus Vick Suspended Indefinitely from Va. Tech Football Team
Apparently, like many college kids, he likes to drive fast and smoke the Mary Jane. Not a big deal, unless you've just been convicted of a whole booze/underage girl thing.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A31453-2004Jul6.html Yikes... hope he doesn't completely blow his opportunity. |
Why dosent he just throw his life away?
This kids got it made, and he goes and does this crap, unreal. |
This guy is an idiot. I certainly wouldn't draft his ass. Plus, he isn't even that good.
Bryan Randall went to the same high school as me, and ive seen him for a long time. He is more consistent, and a much better person, very active in the community, and very bright. He should have gotten the starting job to begin with. Vick is rediculous.
Better than marcus? I guess that's why Marcus shattered all of Mike's high school records, eh?
First of all you must understand the type of trouble this kid is allowed to get into. A famous multi-millionaire brother, and a lot to live up to. His decesions were stupid, but these aren't decesions that need to be made for most of us. He's a big name that everyone wants to impress and hang out with. Which can often lead them into the wrong crowd. I bet Vick and Beemer have a good heart to heart with him and watch him straighten up. Randall is a decent QB, but he's far from the callibre Vick is. |
I think little Vick thinks he can get away with anything, partly because of who his brother is. Sometimes no amount of heart to hearts will straighten out a person with this mentality, sadly.
I only say him play against Miami, and he only threw two balls the whole game. Hes got legs but that doesnt equate to a good QB in the NFL. He needs to learn to be a QB, or he should jsut play HB.
in techs bowl game this past season, he showed more recieving skills than any of throwing talent he showed while playing QB. Right now he obviously is thinking that normal rules don't apply to him because of his last name and he might be throwing his future down the drain right now. And Bryan Randall has played too well the past 2 years to have his starting job taken away by someone making these types of mistakes off the field.
Bryan Randall was also very good in high school, being the AA athlete of the year 2 years in a row in VA...so its not like he wasnt awesome
Guess we won't be seeing him at Fed Ex Field in August against USC! :party-smi
He made a mistake and should and will be penalized criminally and/or via the university. We musn't forget he's 20 years old and famous with a millionaire older brother and a pretty good future (at 20 yrs old) of becoming another Vick millionaire. He will outgrow these legal happenings whether he chooses to be 'good' and follow in the steps of his bro becoming a great NFL QB or chooses to work on cars or whatever. Might not be smart, but shit he's 20 yrs old. Anyone here drive fast and smoke weed before you were 21? Some of us have learned its not a real smart thing to do!
Guys - Vick has had very limited exposure as far as what we've seen as a QB. However, Marcus crushed Mikes highschool records and has a load of talent (thank god for Kazaa, they have everything. Even some HS Vick games!) If I do remember SkinsNCanes, they put Marcus in because we were already up by quite a few touchdowns =p
Keep it in perspective he smokes weed and drove too fast and got caught up with some young girls, he is still a kid. People are so quick to judge but those are relatively small infractions, we should pay more attention to the people raping our kids and smiling in our faces everyday. but those kinds of people get a slap on the wrist and get sent to another district to perpetrate again. It would matter if he was a driver or fighter pilot or precher but as a quarterback who cares about his lifestyle is that really important? Can he run can he throw can he learn the plays? We hold 20 year old kids to higher standards than we hold our leaders. Cheney has two dui's and Bush has one should that have their lives runined? No. He might become a born again christian one day, he still has time to grow into a man and be a productive citizen.
so havin sex with a 15 year old is a small infraction? Getting the girls drunk and telling them to strip is a small infraction?
well how old was he a the time of that situation?
It was in Janurary or Feburary of this year I belive. So he cant be any older now than he was then, unless his birthday was between now and then.
I wasn't doing that shit when I was in my teens. This whole “he is still a kid” shit needs to be dropped. Honestly, how many times does one get the chance to fuck up? I for one hope he doesn't see the playing field this whole season, at least.
Making excuses for him isn't going to help him. He may not be Mike but he has talent and to see him waste it away a la Todd Marinovich (and countless others) would be a shame.
he should realize he's gonna be under an intense magnifying glass not only because his last name is vick but because like Daseal said, he decimated his brothers hs records, so there is a huge amount of expectations for him to perform espcially playing at the college his brother helped put on the national stage. Any of u saying he's just a kid and kids make mistakes don't think that his ego has anything to do with some of the recent choices he's made? Like I told my friends, I'd like to hear how much weed it was and how fast he was driving cuz u can get charged with reckless driving for only driving 20 miles over the speed limit which a majority of people do on highways. But thats still no excuse cuz with each slip up he's not only lossing points with possible scouts due to his maturity, but he's going to miss a lot of practice and playing time and he is still in need of both to help refine his mechanics and field smarts.
as for the underage girl thing I think he was 19 at the time and I honestly didn't think it was bad as it was made out to be cuz its not like there aren't quite a few girls that age partying harder than people my age(23). and he was just one year removed from high school so its not like it was a huge age difference and it's not like he gave them ruffies like that kicker from the raiders. |
Kids make mistakes, its part of growing up. I think the university took the right step by suspending him indefinitely, hopefully he does have that heart to heart with Beamer and straighten up.
He's got a ton of talent, but he doesn't seem too bright. I see him sitting out the majority of the year, but he's got a lot to live up to. And now he's got to show that he's worth all the trouble he's caused, because I guarantee he'll suit up for at least one game this year and will probably start next year. He is incredibly gifted, love the naysayers who want to judge him after a few games this season. Give him time. |

This may be the best thing for his career as a QB. He is not going to unseat Randall, maybe he should play next year for a QB friendly I-AA team like Marshall or Texas Tech. |

Speaking of Marinovich, I remember reading an article about him when i first moved to LA. He actually told the reporter that he needed to shoot up during arena league practice in order to perform... I have enough trouble calculating algorithmic functions under ganj-induced states- how the hell did this guy dodge rushing D-ends and connect with his flanker high on smack??? |
marinovich was obviously watching too much Playmakers ;)
maybe you should tell him that that stuff isn't real... |

He didn't. I'd take any member of the Warpath over Marinovich, any day. I wonder if that was Heath Shuler's problem in DC? He needed to be high on something. |
i dont' think vick realized how old the girls were. as a star player on a big college team you can get mostly any girl u want and they'll likely do anything he wants ... so it was probraly just as much a shock to him she was 15, as was the publics
i think we are giving him the benefit of the doubt here. He messed up, many times now, and they arent small violations. I dont know many 15 year olds that look like they are of age, much less 3, which were at the apartment. This isnt the first time hes been busted for pot, cmon guys. Too many free passes. Hes a f*ck up.

I don't know where u r seeing girls then cuz there r a plethera of girls looking of legal age that aren't. plus it wouldn't be the first time in the world if the girls LIED about their age. he didn't rape them, we don't know the amount of pot in his possesion, and we don't know what warrented his driving to be classified as wreckless. Has he messed up? yes, but last time I checked he had earned his "passes" and hasn't had much if anything given to him for free. when else was he busted for pot, cuz I've honestly never heard anything about that? |
he was suspended last season for a reason not released by the school, but it was thought to be pot related. The girls are testifying that he did rape them and make them strip, along with 2 other players (Imoh and Hill). Whether or not he actually did is unknown, but he put himself in a bad situation.

I hadn't heard about them saying they raped the girls and I would think that would be huge news in this area. maybe I'm just missing the wrong nights of the news but I would think my VA Tech alum friends would be cussing their heads off as well if they had heard that. I'd heard that his suspension last year for one game was for a curfew violation or something of that nature. |
read it in the local paper
Everything I've read or heard has only talked about him contributing to the deliquancy of a minor. Not even a little blurb about possible rape charges and thats a type of charge that a news source would use in the headline or first paragraph of the story close to a 100% of the time. If I'm the only one who hasn't heard about him and the other 2 being accused of rape then I must be reading the news from all the wrong places. plus he's been cleared of charges that he had sex with any of the girls. the only charges remaining r the supplying of alcohol to minors and encouraging them to strip.
"The amount of marijuana in Vick's car was small enough that Vick signed a summons on the roadside and was released." obviously it wasn't that much weed and he was going 88 in a 65 mph zone. That is pretty bad but how many of us see other cars or actually drive around that fast on the highway all the time? its not excusable but its not uncommon either. |
weed is weed man. he prolly smoked the rest of it
Interestingly enough, his domain name went up for bid on ebay a couple of days ago
