Super Bowl XLI game thread

Discuss the game here and cry about the fact the Skins haven't been to a Super Bowl since 1991.

What the f was that crap they started doing at like 5:50? It looked like some hippie jam peace festival, not the pregame show for the Super Bowl. Perhaps it's just me, but I think the NFL lost track of who it's trying to appeal to.

Can we finally stop the talk about Vinatieri being clutch?

One missed field goal? I think we need to see him miss a few more before we can stop talking about him being clutch.

Is that bumbling goof wearing #8 Grossman or Brunell?

Yeah, when our kicker (or any kicker) wins 2 superbowls.

I can't remember the last time a Skins receiver dotted the eye like Harrison and he does it 10 times a year (usually for a td).

Warpath 02-04-2007 09:23 PM

Re: Super Bowl XLI game thread

That INT Grossman just threw with 11:44 was a lame duck? That was a sad double move thow. He should of thrown it deeper.

Re: Super Bowl XLI game thread

Nice pass Rex Brunell! Would you like a 7 year 42 million dollar contract? We will throw in a third rounder (in 09 since we haven't had one in two years)...

Pocket$ $traight 02-04-2007 09:32 PM

Re: Super Bowl XLI game thread

Rex Brunell, the only thing left for you is 5 straight wide receiver screens and some garbage yards (from a non-hurry up offense) in the last 3 minutes.

Re: Super Bowl XLI game thread

Another pass to the RB in the flat by Rex Brunell. Does anyone else find this eerily comical?

Re: Super Bowl XLI game thread

The monkey is officially off Peyton Manning's back now, I'm happy for him as well as for Tony Dungy. The Colts really dominated the game, and I wouldn't be a bit suprised to see them come back and do it again next year, of course unless the Redskins get back to the big one!
One missed field goal? I think we need to see him miss a few more before we can stop talking about him being clutch.
If clutch doesn't mean that he will hit every pressure field goal, what does it mean?

If he missed a few more, that wouldn't be a matter of clutch, it would be a matter of "not very good."

Congrats to Dungy, Manning, and the entire Colts organization.

Cheers to Dungey and the Colts.

Jeers to CBS for running an anti-American political ad. How ill-mannered of them.

That was pathetic. To use the true heroes of our country and exploit them like that (especially the man who lost his arm) made me sick.

You don't exploit someone who lost their arm fighting for our way of life. That was disgusting.

Re: Super Bowl XLI game thread

Before this thread turns into a political one, how bout the Colts? The Bears screwed up too much to win this game, and we all saw what happened when they turned to Rex Grossman for help. Congrats to Manning and Dungy and the Colts, they deserved to win, and they played a great game.

I mentioned this is the other thread. I think Addai was the MVP here. Rhodes a close second and Peyton came along for the ride.

Hey, it's alright. We do support a D.C. area team so politics aren't a foreign subject to anyone on this board. Everyone knows CBS is a little left of center anyway. The game was great even if it was a bit sloppy! Happy for the Colts!

Good Game, Good Time had here. Congrats to the Colts, although I'm very jealous, but I'm glad Peyton/Dungy won the big one.

Now the one thing that did piss me off tonight, and maybe i'm a woman for this but....

Wasn't some idiot supposed to drop crazy money to propose to his wife via super bowl commerical?? When did that happen?

Anti-American? Are you kidding me? Why would people wanting to get our men and women out of Iraq under constant fire and strife anti-American. The Republicans have done a great job in convincing people that if you are against the war in Iraq that you don't "support the troops" which is beyond bullshit. You can be against a war, but support the troops 100%, such as myself.

Agreed 100%. I think we should keep this on topic, but this is compeltley accurate. I hate the war and have since the start, but I am beyond every single soul over in Iraq right now and weather I agree with it or not I thank each one of them for sacraficing what they do.

Hopefully apology is accepted and we can move on, but I agree.

Congrats to the colts--to think, they won it with defense, running, and the short pass!

I thought one of the RBs should have been MVP, but that was one of those deals where it was for Peyton's career as much as for this game.

How long until the draft? ;)

Re: Super Bowl XLI game thread

I realize I'm beating a dead horse here. Regardless...

To think that Peyton Manning won the SB game by attacking the cover 2 in the same manner that Mark Brunell was doing this season for us...

Sometimes good quarterbacking is taking what the defense gives you, as easy as it may seem.
It was raining though...cough cough
It's true and I'm sure that played a factor in his decision making, but even so did you see how much room Addai had to make plays?

That's just patience at its best.
