Trade Value...
A friend of mine is in Indy covering the Combine. It's his job. :cool-smil
I just talked to him on the phone and he said that Pacman Jones is definitely avalailable and the price to get him is dropping like a rock. He said that the Giants were offered Jones earlier today (and Lord knows the Giants need help in the secondary) for a 2nd round pick this year and a third next year. The Giants said no. :nono: Later, he said, after other teams had passed on any similar deals for Jones, the Giants were offered Jones for a 3rd round pick this year and a "conditional fifth" next year. The Giants still said no. :nono: :nono: Pacman was a high pick in the first round not all that long ago. Talk about plummeting value... :Flush: Here's another reason why "character matters"... |
Re: Trade Value...
If pacman can't stay out of trouble in Nashville, there is no way he won't be able to stay out of trouble in D.C.
He's a loser and this won't be the last bad news we hear about him. It only gets worse from here for Mr. Jones... |
Re: Trade Value...
I have to admit that upon the news of Pacman throwing $81,000 in cash around at a strip club that the thougt crossed my mind of him coming to DC.
Not saying it's a good idea given his problems, but he's becoming a very good cb, I'd say better than our own Carlos Rogers who was picked 3 spots after him in 05. A part of me feels that if he's still availabe this summer & we've cut Springs & not signed anyone, out of desparation I could see Gibbs at least talking to him & considering a trade. |

(sorry, it had to be done!) |

That's impressive you remembered the names. I've secured an exclusive picture of PacMan partying the night of the incident |

Nice work on the pic. Guess I spent too much time in arcades growing up. Oh, the good old days... |
Re: Trade Value...
crazy. if you could guarantee he'll behave and not be in prison it might even be worth considering. he really needs some jail time though.
|
Re: Trade Value...
I'd love to get a talent like him for a 5th round pick. I just don't think he fits though and at the end of the day we don't JUST need talent but guys who can get the job done. It's hard to get the job done when you're in jail, or still drunk, or mouthing off. On top of all that he'd be such a distraction. He'd be a TO level distraction for the Skins I think. No go.
|
Re: Trade Value...
The question is......are the 'Skins willing to make a deal with the preverbial devil? No doubt the guy can play, but is his on field production worth the headache of his off the field endeavors? Don't do it! how does the 'ole saying go? Once is an accident, two is a coincidence, three times is a trend!
|
Re: Trade Value...
I think its safe to say he's not a Gibbs guy
|
Re: Trade Value...
Pro sports forgives quick, if you are good; but, I think this guy is out of control.
He should go somewhere safe, like Minnesota! |
Re: Trade Value...
Isn't there a good chance he could do jail time? You'd have to be brain dead to trade picks for a guy who may end up in jail. So expect the Skins FO to give our 1st round and 3rd next year for him. Give it a week.

I think he's clear of jail time, but the guy is a trouble magnet. Maybe he can incorporate this into his touchdown celebrations, score a td, pull out a wad of cash from his sock and make it rain on the fans.... |

Ahhh...this is why I miss the 80's so much! I remember watching the Pac-Man cartoon on Saturday mornings, eating Pac-Man ice-cream on Fridays, which was always ice-cream day in school, but most importantly playing pac-man for like 3 hours at a time trying to beat the highest score. And you know, after all of these years, I can still have fun playing pac-man! |
Re: Trade Value...
no, no, and more no. i think the skins have been pretty free of troublemakers since old #56 left. what was his name anyway?
|
Re: Trade Value...
Surely it was Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde?
|
Re: Trade Value...
Let the Raiders take him.
|
Re: Trade Value...
No way, unless we also bring back Smoot... and then they should only be in charge of the parties. (metal detectors required).
|
Re: Trade Value...
NO WAY IN HECK! THIS FREAK BELONGS BEHIND BARS! Maybe him and TANK will be cell mates.

Never Happen! NOT ON ANY JOE GIBBS FOOTBALL TEAM, PERIOD |
Re: Trade Value...
If the price is reasonable, e.g. 3rd rnd. pick, I think we'd at least think about it, not that vinny & Danny are reasonable!
I agree that he's not a "Gibbs guy" as someone posted, so ultimately I don't see it happening. Just keep in mind though that Gibbs wants to win badly & is running out of time. Gibbs might also feel that he could sit him down & tell him what's expected of him, maybe even making a deal contingent upon him adding incentives to his contract. Ordinarily that sounds out of the question, but this guy's name is dirt right now & nfl teams are becoming weary of problem players. I actually wanted us to draft Pacman in 05 but he was gone by our pick. He's a great player that is just starting to come into his own. Unfortunately he may lack discipline AND enough brains to keep out of the headlines. In his defense, I've never read anything about him being a bad teamate a la TO. Anyone have any info in that regard? |
Re: Trade Value...
I wouldn't take him if the Titans gave US a third rounder.

I wouldn't trade Archuleta for him.

Re: Trade Value...
If we could get him for something very cheap, I'd be interested. He'd be forced into signing a contract that would be very Redskin friendly. If he ****s up, he's gone within the hour and the skins take a minimal/no cap hit.

The only problem there is that we're giving up a potential roster space for someone like say Dre Bly, for a ticking time bomb. |

Wow!that's saying a lot I'd be willing to take that deal in a heartbeat, but for that matter I think about anything would could get for AA might be a bonus at this point. I get your point though, this dude isn't worth the trouble. Can't argue w/that, but a part of me wants him to make a turnaround & if it is w/the skins we'd get the sweet end of the deal. Don't be surprised to see JJ call on him to come to dallas. Also hate to say it, but it occurred to me this week that Springs might be interested in dallas too since his dad played there. It doesn't sound good for us restructuring w/him, maybe that's why I'm a little more interested in this Pacman thread. |

You are correct sir! Should have done my research. I'll print a full retraction. Please note that memphisskin mistakenly indentified the ghosts. He must have been playing on a bootleg machine, or perhaps all those warnings about drinking and recreational drug use killing brain cells are correct. (message!) |

Re: Trade Value...
I think Pacman is going to jail. I was listening to WFAN in NY on Friday and a guy valled in who said he was a relative of the paralized shooting victim. He said there were 7 eye witnesses that saw Pacman tell the bouncer on his way out the door..."You will be dead before the night is out." He also said that Pacman was seen on camera clowning around with the shooter all night as well as slamming a girls head on the ground. There's always a chance the guy was making up or exagerating the story but he had a lot of details and got choked up during the story a couple times...he sounded pretty credible. Strip clubs are filled with cameras...they are going to be able to build much more than a he said she said case against him and his thug buddies. So why would anyone give up draft picks for a guy who may never play in the league again?
|
Re: Trade Value...
PacMan is such a total loser....the poster child of how the NFL is turning into a league of punks and thugs.
|
Re: Trade Value...
He gives a bad name to the great video games/cartoons of the '80s plus the many good guys that do exist in the NFL.

There are undoubtedly many great guys in the NFL who donate their money and/or time to good causes, don't get into trouble, and are generally "good people." My only point was that the number of players who are getting in trouble with the law and generally act like little wannabe gangsters seems to be growing to unacceptable levels. |
