Fauria Released

The Redskins have released TE Christian Fauria. I wonder who his backup will be.

I think Todd Yoder will be the backup although we may sign a free agent to bolster the depth.

We are going to be way under the cap. I hope we at least take three chill pills before the clock strikes midnight on thursday night.

Good for Yoder. He did step up, and he's getting what he deserves.

Ahhh, TMC's got nothing on the TAF when it comes to witty posts.

Not hatin, TMC, but seriously, when was the last time you went all Master Yoda up in here? I think it's about time you got back on top your game!

One down, how many more to go?
Any of our capologists have anything on Patten? seems I remember somebody saying here that it wouldn't save anything to cut him.

Fauria, didn't do squat....BYE! I think the Todd Yoder signing is complete, Good move. GOOD BLOCKER, GOOD HANDS!

Re: Fauria Released

Cutting Fauria saved us $1.0 million (on the nose) in cap space.

Cutting David Patten would actually cost us cap space ($2.2 million to be exact). If we cut him as a post-June 1 cut, we'd save $1.3 million this year, and then take a $3.5 million deadcap hit next season.

Chances are Patten will be back, but I've seen stranger things happen.

When is Hall going to get released (post June1st?)

Good move, but not a surprising one.

Now to bring in a blocking TE who can actually block.

thanks Scneed. JLC seems to think Patten is next or on the list, but he never gives cap info like u do.
We could end up w/# 4 & 5 WRs - Loyd & Patten - that don't play spec. teams. I thought Thrash outplayed both last year & earned time at wr, plus he just restructured/extended.

Man, does anybody miss my man R. Royal. Dude was a great TE. In the red zone back in 04' dude was like money. Real sorry we let him go. I really think that he and Lavar by not being on our team this past season hurt us bad. Just saying..........

Arrington is as loyal as they come.

When did Lloyd become #4? If he keeps his nose clean he is back at #2.

Ughhh, seriously. I'm not sure that he realized that football fans are mostly men, so he's probably not going to reach his target audience by swiveling his hips around in a sexual manner.

I dont give a crap if the guy wants to streak across the US so long as he's getting into the endzone.

I actually disagree with cutting Patten. Especially if it's going to cost them money. I couldn't think of a better #4 in this league. He's a talented receiver, he just hasn't produced anything at all in a Skins uniform, however, I still trust him as a #4.

thrash is more realiable and better than him if we cut him now i think i am not sure but i think that it would be better i might be wrong though and on the seahawks billy engram is the 4th string and nate burelson was number 4 for a while and they are both better than david patten and you said that patten hasnt produced in a skins uniform so why i ask you why is he still wearing one?

I agree, I would not mind seeing us cut Patten and use Espy in his place, atleast get him on the field. I think that given a chance he would be decent.

With all of these cuts how much under the cap are the Redskins?

Schneed, with all the talk of Springs getting cut, what does that save us exactly on the cap? Also, it looks like Wynn will get cut as well. So, after Wynn, Springs, and Hall...how much cap room will we gain?

Redskins8588 03-01-2007 03:36 AM

Re: Fauria Released

Someone please correct me so that I know if I am looking at the cap numbers right. This is what I get by cutting the following players and what the Redskins are currently over the cap. By cutting the following players and how much we save...

T. Vincent - $1.291mill
Fauria - $1.000mill
Hall - $1.500mill
Wynn - $2.500mill
Springs - ($92,000)

Total = $6.199mill

But we are currently over the cap by $2.388mill, so after all of this we will be under the cap by about $3.811mill.

Note: I did not account for the recent Brunell restructure. I am not sure how that will affect the cap.

Please someone let me know if I am close with these figures, I used the cap sheet for my numbers... Thanks...

Re: Fauria Released

Also, in looking at the cap numbers I noticed that Cooley is a free agent at the end of this up coming season. I hope the hell that the FO is working on his extension...

To cut Patten it is going to be about a $2.2mill hit against the cap. I think that we will wait it out with Patten... But who knows?!?!

according to espn we were 5.6 under the cap after the brunell release and that the brunell contract got us a extra 3.3 mill so we are 8.9 under right now

Re: Fauria Released

I'm not so sure of the accuracy of ESPN's cap #, I've seen other sources also say that we have $6M of cap space right now.
