Randy McMichael Might Be Available

So the inevitable question is should we consider going after him?

He might not be a need, but he'd be a nice luxury. I've always liked him, outside of his domestic disputes, I like the way he plays.

For the record I agree. Just curious what the board thinks. I think the only additions we should make on offense are on the line. Some say our WR corps needs to be upgraded, I say they need more time together

But McMichael can definitely play, just shouldn't be our priority

Count me in with the "no thanks" crowd. Many people say we need another tight end. I don't agree. There aren't many double TE sets in Saunders' offense anyway.

Get a blocking TE through undrafted free agency, that should do it for us.

I figured if we did go after a free agent TE it would be more of a blocker than catching TE.

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

Although having McMichael would be cool, I say we shouldn't get him. But him just being on the market is good for us. It means that other TE's values go down because there is now more and better options than them, and it also means that those people searching for TE's might potentially get McMichael instead of a guy that we want to target.

skinsfan_nn 03-05-2007 08:24 PM

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

I hope we can sign Yoder fairly cheap. This guy is a solid blocker and can catch very well. I hope they give this guy a shot, he could be a solid backup to the Capt........COOOOOLEY!

McMichael, to low on the priority list.

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

McMichael might be looking for a pretty big contract as well, and plus we have bigger needs to address.

he's going to be looking to come in as the starter...but if he is willing to sign a 1 year deal to serve as the backup then lets do it

I doubt he's lookin at one year? He's definitely isn't looking for backup cash. McMichael can play!

Don't NEED to be wasting cash on a upper end TE. We have other areas of higher concern.

True Cooley is not a great blocker... McMicheal is even worse, we need at least one decent blocking TE. Plus McMicheal will make some bank in FA.

Welcome to the board

Why'd you put an "e" at the end of Green?

Where in CT do you live?

mcmichael would be a good back up to cooley if anything ever happen to him. but it would have to be a bargain contract or hardly any signing bonus. Need to find a guard or dlineman.

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

McMichael is one of the better receiving TEs in the league, no way he's even on our radar.

GTripp0012 03-05-2007 11:36 PM

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

I always like TE depth. I feel like you can never have enough good TEs. I've just never liked McMichael. He's a subpar blocker, has character issues, and is even overrated at what he does well--catching the football.

Graham would be so much more enticing its not even funny.

add me to the like him but dont go after him club way more needs than him and he is looking to make big money i say before we sign a new tight end we should extend colley's contract

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

he'd immediately be the #2 here. I think he's good, but if its over 1mill per, we've got other needs to save for.

Aussie_Skins_Fan 03-06-2007 05:25 AM

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

I doubt he would even want to be here. If he came here, he shouldn't get great money and wouldn't get a start ahead of Cooley (Who will make the Pro Bowl this year, thats my 'lead pipe lock'). So i don't think that makes a very attractive option for him, or us.

Rajmahal33 03-06-2007 09:47 AM

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

McMichael is more of a razzle dazzle kind of player, whereas we need a garbage man. The one thing that he could provide for this team is that he would give JC a big target in the end zone on goal line sets. We currently don't have a tall receiver and McMichael was always great in the red zone at Miami. Still i agree that we shouldn't go after him unless its a real bargain. We need a blocker to seal the ends on those counter plays and such.

He has killed at least 3 of my fantasy teams with his late season disappearing acts.

Let someone throw 30 million at him (hopefully the Cowboys or Niners) so we can laugh.

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

Don't think he's worth our time. He's not needed, and he's not gonna get paid to block. I think the FO is making smart moves this offseason, and this will be one they shy away from

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

would be nice, but not for the likely price
Sign Yoder & draft a TE in rnd. 6 or 7.

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

Nope, Cooley's our man for TE pass-catching.

We need a blocking-monster for our other TE. How will Yoder do this year in that role?

McMichael drops way too many balls. Miami fans are glad he's gone. no need for him in Washington.

If Yoder was adequate for the role we are trying to fill, Pucillo wouldn't have played as much TE as he did.

Goal line? Short yardage?

I see where you're coming from though -- tight ends in Saunders' offense primarily catch. I guess the feeling is, as long as Gibbs still has his hands in the offense, you'll still see some heavy-jumbo formations.

Still, there's plenty to concentrate on with defense alone.

I think 3$mill per year is more than the skins want to spend on a backup TE anyways. I think $1-$2mill per year is probably closer to their range.

Saunders ran alot of Stretch and Counters in KC when running tho, TE are important for those plays.

Re: Randy McMichael Might Be Available

McMichael was arrested on July 9, 2005 in Columbia County, Georgia after witnesses told police he gave his wife a bloody nose. His wife, Cawanna McMichael, told police the contact with her husband was an accident as he was throwing some of her belongings out of their 1984 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Witnesses told police they saw McMichael throw his wife from the car. One witness told police he saw the athlete throw his wife away from the vehicle several times, according to the report. Cawanna McMichael was treated at the scene. According to the police report, McMichael had two glasses of wine and several beers before arguing with his wife, but he refused to take a field Breathalyzer test. [2]

This marked the second domestic incident for McMichael. Prosecutors decided not to file charges after McMichael was arrested in June 2004 and accused of hitting his wife. McMichael had been charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, a second-degree felony that is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
