Duckett available?
I really like TJ. Think it was silly to give up so much for him for 1/2 of a season. I'd love to see him resign. Any chance of Duckett coming back? Has he signed elsewhere yet?
|
Re: Duckett available?
no chance, wouldn't want him. he's not big, he's fat, and he doesn't hit the hole hard, he dances around behind the line. total waste of money and a draft pick.
|
Re: Duckett available?
On Madden as a backup he plays like a beast. Previous year in ATL thought he was a beast!? You wouldn't want him? Portis, Betts, Duckett, Sellers. Brutal lineup if ya ask me!

Any chance Duckett was playing not to get hurt last year? If he was, it looks like a really bad decision, but I can't really explain why he didn't hit the holes hard on short yardage the way he did in Atlanta. Only explaination I can think of is that he was protecting himself from injury until he could get out of DC and get a new contract. |

This is the NFL not a video game...
Lol, exactly! Duckett wouldn't want to sign here given that he'd be 3rd on the depth chart and would get as few carries as he got this year. And for the money he'll want we don't need him, the thing about Duckett is that he is big, round 250lbs but runs like a 200lbs back, doesn't use his size as effectively as he could. If Betts is traded somewhere, he could be resigned as a backup but that looks unlikely. And i for one hope this doesn't happen. |
Re: Duckett available?
almost looks like he was out of shape. not really a need for him here

Are we into fantasy or real football? This guy was a waste of a draft pick! Don't care what he did in ATL. He didn't do JACK IN DC! Gettem outta here! :spank: |
Re: Duckett available?
We have a premier back and a guy that multiple teams are trying to trade for and you want to bring back this dead weight because hs is good in Madden? WTF?

Uh, we had that last season, and Duckett never saw the field. which in my opinion was a shame. there were numberous opportunities for him to touch the ball in short yard situations, but the coaches i guess dont think he was good enought to play on this team. I tell one thing about him, he is a class guy. He never once complained about the playing time or lack there of. Always said he enjoyed playing in Washington and would do anything Gibbs asked. |

there is only one ball...if they had any desire to use his skills, they would have...fact is TJ doesn't fit in Gibbs' plan |
Re: Duckett available?
Duckett was an expensive insurance policy we didn't need last year in hindsight. That was a one shot deal, he won't be back here.

Sure he did. In the latter part of the season he had plenty of chances to play. Just didn't do JACK withem! Good to know he's a team guy.... that can't get it done on the field. |
Re: Duckett available?
Wow Lux, next you'll be telling us to bring Darrell Green back to play CB

Re-sign. For the love of all that's sacred, can't you please use the hyphen? I'm begging you please. (nothing personal, just a little peeve of mine) Now, in terms of Duckett's skills, I think we would have gotten a better idea about him if he hadn't stood around most of the season. Also, a big back needs a few carries to get into a rythm. So, in the context of the season and the context of single games, we never saw the real Duckett. Or maybe we did. Atlanta did trade him afterall. I agree with Matty. One year insurance policy. It looks like a bad decision now. At the time we were all a little shell shocked from the Portis injury. I think Betts history of injury swung the decision. If someone had been able assure Gibbs that Betts would have stayed healthy, I don't think he makes the trade. We don't get those guarantees. You have to make the best decision at the time. And the likelihood at the time was that there ws little chance of Betts staying healthy if he played an entire season. |
Re: Duckett available?
Duckett wasn't brought in to be an impact player. He was brought in as insurance incase we lost Betts after losing Portis to injury. With Betts' injury history that luckily didn't resurface last season, it was a very smart move. Without Duckett on the roster, we would've been pretty much screwed at RB if Betts had gone down. Rock would be our only real option and he's unproven at RB, great on kick returns though. It's no one's fault that Betts stayed healthy and we didn't need T.J., but if we were left without a capable RB, I bet all of you would be grilling the coaching staff for it.

Why do you love him so much he averaged 3.5 yrards two TDs and we have Portis & Betts which both are better. |

i would dis agree w/ u. yes he doesn't hit the whole hard but he's not fat at all. i saw him up close once. real low body fat. |

He's not coming back. Your 3rd RB has to be able to do more than just play tailback. Duckett is not a fullback and he does not play teams. He's long gone. |

Ok you have to decide no body fat or low body fat he can't have both. |
Re: Duckett available?
Is Duckett better than Rock?
I think Not |
Re: Duckett available?
Is Duckett better than Rock?
I think Not
I think Rock is way more valuable to the team. He's great on special teams and he's a team leader. Plus Rock can carry the ball if needed. Never should have made the trade in the first place. All Gibbs had to do was look at the film from when OBC was here and he would have saw what Rock can do. |

Did you pull out a ruler and measure his love handles? |
Re: Duckett available?
The most damning thing for me about TJ is how he would pitter-patter in short yardage. I can't recall seeing him ever hit the line with authority, I never saw him move the pile. I saw him run up to it, and if there was no hole, he'd twinkle-toe until someone brought him down. I spoke to some Falcon fan friends of mine last year when i was seeing this, and they said, yep, that's TJ alright.
For a man so big, he plays like he's afraid. I agree with others who think Rock makes a better short yardage option because he at least runs hard. I'll pass, and chalk the mistake of the trade up to yet another learning experience. ~Bang |

It's a blessing that he never had to play. We should have looked at film from him in Atlanta and traded our third round pick for an actual decent running back. |

Rock's a great team guy who could be getting considerable carries somewhere else (as a No. 2), but chose to re-sign here as a teamer and No. 3 back. We really screwed him with the Duckett signing.

If anything we screwed Sellers. He could of been our beast on short yardage |
Re: Duckett available?
Sellers always seems to get like 6-7 yards a pop when he runs it.

Re: Duckett available?
If anything we screwed Sellers. He could of been our beast on short yardage
Well, doesn't Sellers have to play the fullback on short yardage? I guess we could slide Yoder or Cooley back there, but I'd feel much more comfortable with Sellers leading the way for Portis/Betts in short yardage than with Yoder leading the way for Sellers.
I feel that a majority of Duckett's 2006 carries would have gone to Rock. I'm also waiting with great anticipation for the day when Cooley lines up at fullback, gets the handoff, and proceeds to spin 8 times on his way to the endzone, but I digress. |

Re: Duckett available?
man.. F that... I'd like to bring him back JUST so I could have him again on Madden! I crush people with Duckett... get em all inside an toss it to him and crush a DB... 50+yd TDs all day long...
That fool is a madden beast! I don't care if he plays, I'd love to have him on the game! |

and what would be wrong with that? Im sure DG could probably out play alot of corners out there and cover alot of the WRs |

Running out of the singleback wouldn't work if they sold out vs the run. We'd need a few solid PA pass options off a Sellers dive play. |

Uh, remember I did suggest that the first year Gibbs came back... And also people called me crazy when I said we should get Gibbs to come back and coach the Redskins for a second tenure... |
Re: Duckett available?
Oh god, soon as CB problems are mentioned people think Green can solve them lol. Hey why don't we get Riggo in the game again? I am sure he could have taking CPs spot when he went down.

ProFootball Talk has reported Duckett signed a 1yr. 1.5 mil deal with Detroit. Sorry can't post link.
