Quinn goes to Cleveland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
So Cleavland gets Thomas and Quinn, sick....
But what is worst is Dallas raped them. They get Cleavlands 2nd and next years 1st....that is crazy. |
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
yeah its a great trade for dallas, but its also a great one for cleveland. quinn was a top 10 talent and thats what it takes
|
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
That's an awesome trade for Cleveland what are you talking about? A possible franchise QB is worth all that and more.
|
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Man, Dallas is going to have 2 top 7 picks next year :(
|
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Ugh, I know. Why can't Dallas just suck?

Ok, it isnt bad for Cleavland. But if you havent forgotten, you are a Redskins fan lol. Dallas picked up a freaking 2nd rounder. So now they have two. Maybe a 3rd would have been a little better. And they will have 2 first rounders next year. Assuming Dallas does ok next year and Cleavland struggles(which seems likely) then Dallas will have a first round pick at towards the beginning AND the end of the first round. This is bad news for all Redskins fan. |
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Cowgirls made out great! Cleveland did ok, see how BQ develops as the future QB of a dead beat team.

I mean Dallas does get good value, but they don't pick up any first round talent this year so I am ok with that. Now if they get two studs in the second and Cleveland goes 2-14 next year then that would be very very bad. |

But they get 2 second rounders and a first next year. It doesnt matter if the browns lose 12 games, beacuse then they will get picks both in the beginning and end of the first round, which is like the cream of the crop of talent. After talent begins to drop after that. A fairer trade would have been a 3rd this year and next years 1st****. I mean it is great for the Browns, but better for Dallas. Worst news for us. |

well they have 2 second rounders because they already have an existing one right now. |
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Dallas would never trade out of the first round without getting a first round pick back. That's just basic. No way Dallas makes the deal you proposed. They have to get value for not getting to pick in the first round this year.

that was a typo...see the edit |
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Yeah but the team that trades up usually has to give more especially when Dallas knew that cleveland is hoping to draft a hometown QB. This is the most important position in the game. Anyway we just have to hope Dallas drafts poorly in the second round.

yeah I agree, but that doesnt change the fact they got a good deal. Obviously if you trade up, you have to give up more. I said that Cleavland did well, but Dallas even better. The whole point of this thread is realize this is bad for Skins fans, because the Boys are our rivals and they just got an extra advantage. |

Otherwise it's not that big of a deal. It's not like this trade is way out of proportion draft value wise. |
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
that why we stink
|
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Who cares now? DAL trades back into the first round by PHI (why?) to draft Purdue DE Anthony Spencer 6'2" 250lbs. That doesn't scare me. And to think next year's draft will make DAL much better than last year's is wishful thinking.

Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Dallas needed a Bookend for Ware since Ellis is coming off of Achilles surgery.
They did well to get Cleveland 1st next year while getting the bookend to Ware before the Pats did... |

Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
The trades worked out for both sides, but it doesn't work out very well for the third side which happens to be us :( But Cleveland was smart to make the movie, since they believed Quinn is going to be franchised qb for a team, so why not take it for themselves? So

Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
i was afraid the cattle ranchin imbreds down in dallas were going to take quinn . . i dont think romo can ever be more than an mediocre qb
|
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
Dallas still has to hit on whoever they pick next year -- and who knows how long it'll take for whoever that is to make an impact. Bobby Carpenter didn't exactly spell doom for the Redskins this year.
It was a good deal for both sides. |
Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
at least they have a chance to hit on some picks not like us who half to wait until the 5th round to pick. Also the cowgirls also will have a top 10 pick from cleveland next year and also one in the mid 20's. That gives them alot of flexability.

Although, I thought Brownies were gonna push for division behind Balt last year. They will make playoffs and u get 20th or worse pick. (hard to type with fingers crossed) |
Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
Dallas lucked out this draft, they got their guy in Anthony Spencer, and they basically got a 1st next year for a 3rd and a 5th/
|
Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
yep. what a stupid trade for the eagles though
|
Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
Yeah they did, kinda what i have been saying since the quinn trade.
http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-nfl-draft-central/18045-quinn-goes-cleavland-but-dallas.html they got there people and a high 1st rounder bc the browns arent doing anything next year. |
Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
unfortually everyone in the NFL had a good draft compared to us

I posted at the end of the official game thread: Dallas had a pick in the 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th/-2 in the 6th/-2- in the 7th. Maybe our line will look like that next year. |

Really? We came away with the top defensive player, what's there to hate about that? |
Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
If the Dallas first round pick from Purdue who is very light doesn't pan out and obviously he is no sure thing then they had a terrible draft. Yes the first next year was a good move, but it's not like the Cowboys are all that and can afford to give away this years draft.
|
Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
DAL had an OK draft this year. I'm not scared now that they have Spencer (projects as OLB) but, they could have found an eventual starter on the OL in Free and Marten. PHI was foolish to trade with a divisional rival after DAL already benefitted from the CLE trade. Notheless, PHI still made out with some pretty good picks (Kolb has questionable value being PHIs first). ATL seems to have had the best draft without owning the first pick in the top of each round. Quite a few familiar mock-draft names.

What do you expect when you only have 5 picks? I think we did fine with the little that we had. I don't why everyone has their panties in a bunch? You guys act like we found out today that we only had 5 picks. |

I like Anthony Spencer a lot. I think he can be another Demarcus Ware type. I'ts annoying that the Cowboys got him. Nice pick up for them. |

I wanted this guy BADLY the last month leading up to the draft Ellis is coming off an achilles injury, last years 1st rounder, Bobby Carpenter is a better ILB than OLB so Spencer made a lot of sense. Not only can Spencer get after the passer, but he had 93 tackles drom a DE spot and 26.5 of those were tackles for a loss. Combine this with Ware and proven commodity defensive coach in Phillips who's staple is bringing pressure, Im licking my chops. The best line I saw was a reaction from an Eagles fan "We just made a trade with hated rival Dallas and allowed them to draft a guy who is going to kill Kevin Kolb." Awesome! The only thing that pissed me off about the pick were the moron Dallas fans at the draft who were pissy that we didnt draft a corner. WTF? For over a decade, since Haley retird (the 1st time) all we had was a secondary that to cover all friggin day because we couldnt create a pass rush because of bozos like Dave Campo and Mike Zimmer and idiotic draft choices from Jerrah Retards |

Isn't this unprecidented? Not saying it won't work, because if said players are talented enough it will work fine, but it just seems unbalanced to me. If this team ever gets a coach who wants to move back to the 4-3, it would be a disaster. |

There need is on the offensive line. If Spencer works out, great for them but that won't make them a threat to go to the Super Bowl. |

If this team ever gets a coach who wants to move back to the 4-3, it would be a disaster.
The 4-3 is gone in Dallas for the forseeable future Spencer, like Ware, definitely has the athleticism to make the conversion. Hes not quite the athlete Ware is but he plays with more power and had the ability to flatten out that better than Ware (has demonstrated to this point) And unlike Parcells/Zimmer scheme, our LB's will NOT be playing in reverse nearly as much as they have. The Chargers had 61 backs last year with Phillips running the Bolts D. OLB's Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman had 28.5 of those by themselves Thats only 5.5 less sacks than we had 34 as a team last year I like the OL picks--Flozell Adams will be gonne after this year and Columbo is only signed through '08. Free will likely be our LT next year and Maten our RT in '09 The real wildcard is fromer QB soon to be WR Isiah Stanbeck in the 4th. Cowboys Director of Scouting Jeff Ireland nearly creamed himself when talking about this guy. Says Stanbeck compares to Anquan Boldin but with 4.35 to 4.4 better speed. Not bad for a guy 6'2" and 216 He'll be used as a 4th or 5th WR, tried @ KO and punt returns, a potential holder (insert Romo joke), used on specialty plays from the shotgun. Tremendous versatility We got a PK who at worst will be a kickoff specialist for us this year--were were 19th in the league in average opponent starting position. Folk had a very good leg and had the best combine workout. One of the 2 corners we drafted in the 7th will beat out our 5th CB and the other will at worst wind up on the PS if he clears wavers And I havent even mentioned Clevelands number 1 next year who many of us hope turns into Darren McFadden |
