Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
Adam Schefter is reporting that Randy Moss is to be traded to New England for a 4th round pick.
Given thatthe Pats used a 2nd rounder to draft a wideout, got Donte and Stallworth, Wes Welker, I expect to hear Len Pastabelly say how "redundant" this move is. If the Redskins were as active as the Pats this offseason the media would be having a field day. That all being said, the move is a good one for everyone. I'd trade a 4th rounder for Moss, especially in light of his willingness to dramatically lower his cap number. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
what a steal for the pats

Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I'm suprised they are taking a chance on MOSS. After last season NOT being into it? Yea, I know the Raiders suck, but your collecting a pay check.

Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
A steal if he performs like he should
|
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
After hearing rumors that Moss has lost a step, I am curious to see if that physical will include the 40 yard time. Does he still have it or not???

I don't know what performs like he should means with this guy? He USED to be a really good WR......but ALWAYS A HEAD CASE. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
Bobby Beathard says that the Pats this year are totally different than the 2000 Redskins. When they went on a shopping spree. He says than Snyder is like a kid in the candy store, while the Pats are making moves that make more sense. The Pats have got to be the front runners for a Super Bowl appearance. The went from the worst recieving corps to one of the best

Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
Wait until Brady maintains his superior ability to spread the ball around thus limiting Moss' production. We'll see how long he holds his tongue.

Yeah he's been a head case since day one, but he was dominant in Minny. He stopped playing hard in Oaktown because "he said he wasn't having fun". Last time I checked, NFL stood for NO FUN LEAGUE |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I can't wait until Brady throws to Stallworth, or Gaffney, or Caldwell, or anybody other than Moss and he decides to throw a tantrum/walk off the field early/not run a route. There is a reason the worst team in football, with no offense, thought getting rid of him was worth a 4th round pick.

Well everyone at the time said the moves made sense. We were a top pick for the SB in prseason. Only now in hindsight is the folly of those moves obvious. Maybe in 5 or 6 years people will be saying the same thing about the Pats. Maybe not. |

ESPN (mort) JUST said they verified his 40 time.......4.29....he lost a baby step. |

I know. That's a damn shame go to WORK make ALL that CASH and NOT HAVE ANY FUN, and just decide not to do my job. I wouldn't know how to go to work and have so much FUN, and if not having fun decide to STOP WORK. Glad he's in a Gaytriot jersey. No use for a HEAD CASE like MOSS in DC, we might already have one? Hopefully he'll do better this year? |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I doubt Randy Moss will be a malcontent. Even if he doesn't get the ball as much as he wants, he won't be in the type of environment where mouthing off is allowed. The veteran players will keep him in check, IMO.
I've always seen Moss as the type of player who wants to fit in, and will be careful not to alienate himself. The only times I have seen him be a poor teammate is when there are other questionable teammates on the same team. Unlike Owens, I don't think he'll put himself in a position where the rest of the team hates him. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
Moss has lost a step, or maybe his motivation level is just shot after playing in the black hole. If he can't revive himself in New England he probably never will.

Disagree. He will be excited to be there. Much like Meariweather from Miami. They will understand how a REAL team is run. I put Belly dick right up there behind Gibbs. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
4.29? Damn that's blazing
|
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I love this move by the Pats. I think that if he's gonna be happy anywhere it's going to be in New England. I think he's probably over having to get the ball all the time if a team is winning football games. I think receivers get more upset when the team is losing and they're not involved. I kinda agree because if you feel like you can help a team win, but you're not getting that opportunity, it's understandable to be frustrated. I don't like the way Moss goes about expressing it most of the time, but I think that will change with the Pats. I think Belichick and Brady can rein him in.

Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
Great move for the Pats. His potential to return to All-Pro form is at least 50/50. He is surrounded by a great organization with lots of character guys. If he doesn't work out what has NE lost, a fourth rounder. What did we do with our fourth rounder for this year.....case closed.
|
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
This is just further evidence that we need an experienced GM at Redskins Park. We are always shopping for groceries on an empty stomach.
Not only do the Patriots get Randy Moss, but they get him at a discount! Now the chance for a championship has something to do with it, but Randy Moss was on a HOF track until he went to Oakland. He's better than any receiver you'll find left on the draft board, plus he'll be catching passes from Tom Brady. Great trade, great value, great gm. And he's going to restructure his contract for less money! |

Ah, good point that's a better value than the fourth we gave up for Lloyd |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
Lets see: The Pats get a reciever that although is considered a head case has some pretty amazing career stats and was considered a elite reciever in Minnesota and the Pats have to give up a 4th rounder to get him.
Meanwhile the Redskins go out and get a wr that is also considered a headcase (at least by former 49ers, but not as much of a headcase as Moss) who does not have great career stats but has "potential" and the Skins have to give up not just a 4th rounder but also a 3rd rounder. Just think we could have had a chance to grab either a potential guard to replace Dockery or a DE who can actually get pressure on the qb but we are stuck with 0td, 30 some odd receptions a year Brandon Llyod - good job Front Office. Here is my suggestion - stop trading draft picks and get Denver and SF off the speedial button at Redskin Park. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I hope they make it to the play offs and who ever the NFC team is I hope they stomp them.lol. Just to tease Moss. He's only going because he wants to win a SB. He wants a ring.
|
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
LOL what a joke we gave up a 3rd and a 4th for that ***** Lloyd.New England gets Randy Moss for a 4th and thats it.What a ****ing joke.:argue:
|
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
What a fantastic move. New England for whatever reason can streamline malcontents into their system without incident. Corey Dillon came over and led the league in rushing his first year with the team, while helping them win a superbowl. People forget that there were a lot of questions about this move at the time. As long as they are winning games, and they will be, Moss won't complain.

Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I think its a huge pickup for NE. I mean a 4th rounder might not even make the team, so to get Randy Moss instead is a huge steal. He'll like in NE because they are a good team and go to the playoffs often. He'll be a top 10 receiver again I bet.

Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
The History of Moss:
Signed Letter of Intent to ND then went to jail. Scholarship negated Went to FSU, but kicked out after smoking pot Transfered to Marshall Drafted by Vikings. Assaults cop and charged with marijuana possession; walks off field at Fedex Traded to Raiders - admits to smoking pot everyday to Bryant Gumbel; qoted as saying "I play when I want to play" There is a lot of talent in this kid but anybody who says that simply going to NE is going to straighten him out is naive. Merriweather from the U is a dumb college kid that made mistakes. Who hasn't. Moss is a dumb adult who continues to make mistakes. Time will tell. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I think this is a HUGE pickup for NE. And the fact that the man still runs a 4.29 is unreal.
|
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
HE'll fit in good at NE.if he does'nt bruchski, harrison, brady, and a few of those big dline and o line will just jolly stomp the living hell out of him!the pats, barring a major injury to brady, may not lose a game next year.the JAMFS are gonna be tough to beat anywhere they play!!!

A 4th rounder is not a bad price to pay, but Moss is not someone who will make the Pats better for very long. |

I guess our FO is going to prove that point experimentally. Ah well, better late than never. |

we should trade our 2 6's for Kris Jenkins

He tore his ACL in the AFC Championship game. His rehab is on schedule be he still won't be ready until mid-season. Man, Brady has some weapons now. That offense is gonna be absurd. Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Watson, Maroney... yikes. They are gonna be scary good. And we have to play them IN Foxboro. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
I think this is a good move for both NE and Moss. I expect Moss to step it up with the Patriots.
ESPN (mort) JUST said they verified his 40 time.......4.29....he lost a baby step.
Yeah, a 4.29 would have tied him with the fastest 40 time at this years combine, and would have been tops among any of the WRs. Hey, if it doesn't workout they only lose a 4th rounder. If it does, man oh man. I don't think Moss will be a locker room problem. Those are close-knit guys. He's never been in a locker room with that much character and discipline. Belichick and Co. will not let him screw around with that. Mark my words, this works out well for the Pats, even if it's only for a season or two. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder

A 4th rounder is not a bad price to pay, but Moss is not someone who will make the Pats better for very long.
I agree, if Randy Moss is your leader then he may quit. But in NE with that coaching staff and veteran core plus Moss' own desire to win a championship. It's a no-brainer and it makes what we paid for Lloyd seem like a king's ransom, considering Lloyd is about 1/3 the receiver that Moss is and that's being generous. I agree, Moss is not someone who will make the Pats better for very long. He's someone who will make the Patriots MUCH better for as long as he suits up. He's still an elite receiver and now playing with one of the 2 best qbs in the league, it's almost unfair. |
Re: Randy Moss to Patriots for 4th Rounder
good trade.
