Well if it's any consolation to you (and I know it's not) I hear he's gotten down to around 320 |
Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
QB - Campbell
RB - Portis/Betts: I think its a good Bet that Betts shares the load with Portis, almost 50-50, maybe 51-49 to Portis but close enough. FB - Sellers TE - Cooley WR - Moss, Lloyd, Randel El, Thrash/Espy OL - Samules, Wade, Rabach, Thomas, Jansen: Think Wade is the front runner at the moment, he wouldn't have resigned without a guaranteed shot to start. DL - Carter, Griff, Golston, ???: We currently have no one worthy of this spot!! My guess would be be Daniels, but i hope not! LB - Washington, Fletcher, McIntosh/Marshall: McIntosh and Marshall will split time, until one wins/loses the job. CB - Rogers and Smoot S - Taylor and Landry: Lets just throw him on the field and let him play! |

He's a solid receiver when thrown too. All character issues aside, he is more than adequate for JC. When there's Cooley, Betts, and Portis in the mix... who needs a #2 receiver anyways. If his attitude makes a 180 (and that's a big if) Lloyd will get the job done when his name called. Write that down. |

I think Smootsmack has it right with the following exceptions:
1. Fox will be the 3rd safety behind Landry and Pray-Low and, 2. Who in the heck is Cedric Griffin? (Way to go out on a limb with Allbright) |
Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
OFFENSE: (23)
OT: Jansen, Samuels (Wade, Pucillo) OG: Thomas, Ross Tucker (Tucker Peterson (OFA), Lefotu) C: Rabach - I think the coaches really like Pucillo and Tucker. I think they keep Lefotu as a developmental player. He may be a practice squad guy (if he is still eligible). I don't think Whitworth makes the team - GBay gave up on him when their line stank. He strikes me as big, fat and slow. I like the OFA guy from Vermont simply b/c of the write-up he had. He isn't signed yet but I am thinking he is EXACTLY the type of OFA that will be a player in years to come. Overall, after reviewing the roster, I like our O-Line and its depth. I think it will be the strength of the offense. WR: Moss, Randel-El (LLoyd, Thrash, Espy) - The Lloyd experiment comes to a halt as he tells A. Saunders "It's not my fault I ran the wrong route. Blame it on the Offensive Coodinator and the crap game he is calling." TE: Cooley (Yoder, (Pucillo)) - Not a whole lot of options here. As with last year, I think Pucillo ends up being the blocking tight-end by default. RB: Portis/Betts (Cartwright) FB: Sellers - Again, pretty much set. QB: Campbell (Brunell, Bramlett) - Duh. DEFENSE 22 DE'S: Daniels, Carter (Wynn, Jamal Green) DT'S: Golston, Griffin, (Montgomery, Salavea) - I think we squeeze one more year out of Daniels, Wynn and Salavea. At DE, the young talent just doesn't strike me as all that talented. LB: Washington, Fletcher, McIntosh (Marshall, Blades, (Sartz)) - Marshall is the first one off the bench at each position, Blades learns the ropes. Sartz is the emergency outside backer. CB: Springs, Smoot (Rogers, Macklin (Jimoh)) - Springs stays put, Smoot steps back into the 2 spot and Rogers cools his heels as the no.3 corner. S: Taylor, Prileou (Landry, Doughty, Fox) - Until midseason when Landry teams with Taylor. By the end of the year the two are feeding off each other and playing with scary instinct for each other and the ball. SPECIAL TEAMS: (7) P: Frost K: Suisham LS: Albright ST Players: Jimoh, K. Campbell, Sartz, Chris Wilson - Wilson cracks the team as a STeamer and eventually moves into the back up weakside LB position. Suisham is the Skins kicker for the next 10 years. |

I dont know, Portis was, as we all know, very banged up last year. If Betts gets the fumbling under control (which he should do) then i'd see a huge benefit for us in splitting time at RB. Keeping Portis fresh and healthy is only going to make him better when he does carry. I'd also hope to see both of them in on a fair few plays together, really confuse defences about which way we're running or even passing. |

Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
dont see that either
Why? What reason do we have to believe that either one will get significantly more touches than the other. Betts is a proven pro-caliber running back more than capable of taking on the full load. Saunders will look to even the ball distribution to ease the beating Portis takes during the season, and to prevent the possibility of losing either one of them. Portis is the better full time back, so the nod for most carries will most likely go to him. I also see Betts being a big dump off/hot route option when the blitz is on. They'll keep Portis in to block, since that's an area he excels in, and use Betts as a pass option because he has great hands. |

Betts could easily start in the back field, go into motion and line up as a slot or vice versa (a la Randel El). Betts has earned himself a bigger role in the offense... I can guarantee you that he won't be under utilized. |

Well, as I said in my post "I'm two players short-leaning toward Joe Sykes and keeping Khary Campbell. I like this Peterson kid but I think he's practice squad material in 2007." So yes I know there are only 51 players on my list Also "In a bit of a shocker I’ve got Fox starting week one, with Pierson not quite healthy enough and LaRon too green. I'm talking about Fox starting week one, mainly by default Plus Wynn restructured so I would think he's more likely to stay and Finally We'll see about Wade |

Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
Well, as I said in my post
"I'm two players short-leaning toward Joe Sykes and keeping Khary Campbell. I like this Peterson kid but I think he's practice squad material in 2007." So yes I know there are only 51 players on my list Also "In a bit of a shocker I’ve got Fox starting week one, with Pierson not quite healthy enough and LaRon too green. By the end of September Landry is starting." I'm talking about Fox starting week one, mainly by default Plus Wynn restructured so I would think he's more likely to stay and Finally We'll see about Wade
Thanks for the explanation I misread your post, my apologies. |
What games were you watching?? Fox doesn't suck, he's good but not that good tho..
Sorry but Fox played one good game against Carolina. All the other games he was taking bad angles and missing tackles. If the coaches had any confidence in the guy why did they draft Landry and bring in Omar S? Remember the last game against NY? When Tiki was just running wild?? Fox was freakin TERRIBLE. Leave the guy on teams and that's it. |
Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
For the record I like Omar better than Fox, my gut just says Fox stays

Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
Landry will start over PP, unless he doesnt have the head yet for the pro game, but I am sure he will get it down pat. His pass rushing and hitting will be sorely needed if we do not address the inadequate D line needs before week 1 comes. It would be cool to see Palmer actually show some promise and he gets the #3 spot, but he will probably be heading to Europe til we let Collins and MB go next year. I do not like the fact that we will have two aged vets as backups and would like to see Palmer in there and get a lot of reps come preseason. If JC goes down, I would like to know that we are going to replace JC's howitzer with another one, not a pop gun like we have in MB or Colllins.

Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
If Landry's not the starter will we be hearing that the Redskins have screwed the pooch personell-wise again? I would rather have him get beat for 5 tds than have to listen to that gloatfest. (the inner critic: but if he get's beat for 5 tds it will be even worse)
Also, Gibbs says Wade is taking to the guard position like the proverbial duck to water. Of course Williams was saying that Holdman was playing well half way through last season so you really can't believe everything that you read. And when the eff did we get Jason Fabini? I'm slipping badly this off-season. |
Re: The Official First Unofficial Predict the Opening Day Roster Thread
I think you move Springs to safety and start smoot and rogers at the corners

I was all for that a few months ago, but not now with the addition of Landry |
