KJ still has some gas in the tank, I'm suprised.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
i am not surprised but he shouldnt have a problem finding a new home
greenbay, maybe? |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
How ironic. He was just on TV opining about the draft.
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
Oh wicked burn! On Saturday he was interviewing Dwayne Jarrett from the ESPN set at the draft, and telling Jarrett how excited he was to teach a fellow USC alum how it's done in the NFL. And now he gets friggin axed outright! That's hilarious! Dude couldn't possibly have more egg on his face right now.

They paid him a 3M dollar bonus last month. I think he can deal with the egg ;) |

EFF THAT !!!! HELL YEAH !!! BRING HIM HERE. I wanted him when he left Dallas, and before that when he left the Jets. He's a big target, sure handed receiver. Bring that Mo Fo here ! Please give me a reason not to ! |

Yup, the role that made Vince Vaughn. There's not much funnier in this world than injuring video Wayne Gretzky. Except Keyshawn getting axed right after being on national TV talking about how he's going to teach Jarrett how to play WR! |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
Personally to bring him here for vet min. wouldn't be a bad idea for 1 season - he is a possession reciever, none of the guys we have can essentially be classed that.
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
OH MY GOD !!!! PLEASE GET THE PLANE IN THE AIR AND SIGN HIM NOW !!!!!
Not since the days of Darnerian McCants has there been a "big" target receiver that I could trust would come down with the ball when is's in the air. We NEED a guy like him. He blocks, he can catch, and he still has some gas left in the tank. SIGN HIM !!! |

:towel:Bring him to Fed Ex...:towel: NOW!!!!:towel: |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
we dont need him and i imagine we cant afford him
we have a great corps of receivers right now. if we can bring the focus back to the run (which gibbs has already promised) and campbell and our existing receivers can continue to build chemistry and adapt to saunders passing attack.... i think an enviable offensive unit will emerge i like keyshawn but he is an old dog who would have to learn too many new tricks coming here |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
You can't learn height. Keyshawn is 6'4". 6'4" !!!!!!
That, we need ! |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
You know maybe he's ready to try for a championship(not to jinx us). Maybe he will take the Minimum or close for a one year deal. We can use him on third downs at the least as a possession receiver. Especially while he learns the Offense.
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
if we get him, that means we totally gave up on Llloyd and I not sure we should do that. I think we r holdin out until they cut Kris Jenkins, if they cut him. Johnson and hicks would be nice picks ups but r they necesary?

Remember, he was with Tampa in SB 37.... With the timing of the release, he won't get much in salary... I say if you get a chance to sign a stud at a bargin price, you do it..... Do I hear an "AMEN!!!"? :soapbox: |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
I wouldn't mind seeing a possession receiver in Washington. They have a bunch of gamebreakers, but Keyshawn can block and he can go over the middle. He doesn't need to be a #2 or a #3, just come in and make a few plays when you need 7 yards. He'll make the catch and he's tough enough to take shots. I don't think it would hurt to add a guy like Keyshawn.
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
If the cash was right....vet min. or close, he'd be a hell a a reciever to add.
Finally add some size to the mix for a year or two. Santana #1, KJ #2, EL #3, Lloyd whatever. I would welcome a KJ coming to DC |

He had all of 53 catches in 3 seasons for us, and '03 was the only year he did anything of note with a whopping 27 catches. We have a good over the middle pass catcher who can block and is very effective in the red-zone. #47 anyone?? Isn't Keyshawn the same guy who wrote a book telling teams to "get him the damn ball" ??? If we sign him and make him a #3, the we'll have a the most expensive #4 in league history. We need to build continuity and stability with this offense, especially with Campbell and the WRs. Bringing in a 34 year-old malcontent who will end up bitching when not enough passes come his way is just an awful decision. IMO |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
let me see, keshawn is old, high priced, and a disruption in the locker room. sounds exactly like a guy i want on my team. and did i mention he cant run?

He is OLD! and we have enough WRs on our rooster.. |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
I'd work him out with Lloyd and Campbell. That would be great to see Lloyd put on notice. With that said, I think that Lloyd has the potential to be a better fit here, and he blocks great also, but he could use a fire lit under his a**.

If being labeled an overpaid bust, a disappointment, getting called out by his fans and the media, and getting benched a couple of times last year didn't light a fire under his ass then I say cut the bum now. |

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
As your charlotte Skins fan, All I heard on the ride home was how pissed off all the fans are. On every radio show fans were ripping the organization calling it one of the dumbest moves. suprising hearing people talk good about keyshawn

I think part of what they were pissed about was the fact that Carolina gave him a $3M roster bonus just a few weeks back and then decided to cut him. Seems kind of stupid to me. |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
What's funny is Keyshawn should have realized something was up when he said, "(about Dwayne Jarrett) He reminds me a lot of myself." So, they just drafted a young version of you. What made him think he wasn't expendable? I'm about as close to a Keyshawn fan as I will allow myself to be after he was a Cowboy, but come on, you've been around, you know how this thing works.
As for the "Give Me the Damn Ball," I think that portion of his life is behind him. He is still a loud mouth, but at least he's a hard worker and does the dirty work. Keyshawn plays the game I would want players to play it. It's the off the field garbage that I don't need from him. All in all, I think it would be worth a gamble for one season if I were the Skins. |

Sounds like your speaking of LLoyd? With no results to boot. At least KJ is still very productive, alot more than I can say for Lloyd, and I believe his locker room problems are probably a lot milder than they used to be. NFL.com - Keyshawn Johnson I would take him over Lloyd anyday. |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
Key is no longer a locker room distraction, having been cut from Tampa Bay kinda cured him of that. I'd take him in a heartbeat, and in case you haven't noticed we've got one guy (Cooley) capable of going across the middle.
He is great between the 20s and I don't think he'll be a free agent for long if he still wants to play. |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
I'd take him, actually, but I think he will sign with New Orleans or some other team he deems 'a contender'.
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
Keyshawn had a really productive year last year I thought
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
I'm not generally one to scream "sign him!", everytime someone with name recognition gets cut, but if the price were right this might not be all bad. I think Keyshawn is physically well-suited to catch the type of ball that Campbell delivers. He is also the perfect compliment to Moss. Having said that he probably isn't interested in playing for us or for the scant money we would be offering.
He's going to play for somebody, though, and I believe he represents an improvement over Brandon LLoyd who has not shown the toughness needed to do what the Skins need him to do. |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
It actually wouldn't surprise me to see him return to the Jets. I think the Chargers and Packers could also be possibilities
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
John Clayton just got finished saying there is a very good chance this is the end of the road for Meshawn. He said if he did sign he'd have to be willing to take a 1 year minimum value contract, which would be right around $1M. He also said if he is going to sign with anyone it will be right around the start of training camp.
|
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
Goal Line and Third Down guy....Lord knows we could use that jump ball in the end zone

I doubt very seriously KJ is gonna hang up those cleats, he's got something left and I'm sure he's interested in that last paycheck. |

I pretty much agree with you, but usually John Clayton is pretty right on, so I thought it was worth mentioning. |
Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.
he sure would help out on 3rd down and in the red zone.
