SportsNation knows something
SportsNation is doing a poll to see who fans think are the top quarterbacks in the league.
ESPN.com: SPORTSNATION - 709 They've speculated who the starting quarterback will be for the teams with a question mark at that position. Guess who they're expecting to be the starter in Washington next season... |
Re: SportsNation knows something
They are retarded
|
Re: SportsNation knows something
Ahhh, the media gotta love those douchebags.
|
Re: SportsNation knows something
They also have Tom Brady starting in New England. These guys...
But seriously, these polls are written probably by interns who don't follow the league all that closely. |
Re: SportsNation knows something
its a stretch and id be guessin but maybe since they wanted people to vote/rank the best qbs they thought brunell and his career stats would get/deserve more recognition then campbell . . or it shows a complete lapse or disinterest with the skins by the disney/yankee media monster that is ESPN . . i love how some of the players are bringing a chip to their shoulder this year, even springs (who is playing for a contract with another team next year) said he is going to lay it all on the line next year.

Re: SportsNation knows something
I checked out the sight, doesn't mean squat. Just asks you to rank the starters from last season for this season. Jeff Garcia is in the mix, and I think he is pretty much toast as being a starter anymore.

Well someone must have tipped them off that their list was flawed because this line: Rank these 32 quarterbacks for the 2007 season, SportsNation! was originally written: Rank these 32 speculated starting quarterbacks for the 2007-08 season, SportsNation! Either way, Russell and Schaub are both on the list, so obviously they're refering to next season. |
Re: SportsNation knows something
Come on. They still have Brunell in there? Foolish!
|
Re: SportsNation knows something
As much as I hope I'm wrong, I could see something happening to Campbell like happened to Ramsey. This isn't a Ramsey thread, but one little break gets Brunell back in the game, after that we know how hard it is to bench him....

But Campbell is also a "Gibbs guy" so it's not the same situation necessarily |

I guess any player can get hurt at any time. For what reason do you see something happening to JC? Also, I haven't heard or read that MB is #2, it could be Collin's. I would think that will be descided in camp. With MB coming off surgery in the off season I don't think there are any guarantees for him automatically being #2. |
Re: SportsNation knows something
Damn you sports nation for giving us another excuse to utter his name! Why do I feel like we'll still be talking about MB in 20 years?

nn, I say something like something very small that forces them to come of the field shortly.

To be expected, should have known. NARKMAN |
Re: SportsNation knows something
MB is the only choice for Redskins QB. Its not like MB was choosen OVER JC, its just that he is the only choice. I mean there is only 1 QB per team there is no depth so I think its pretty hard to rank. JC is our guy.

Don't you have connections yet? |
Don't you have connections yet?
Connections sure. That's how I got them to at least get them to change the wording from "these speculated starting QBs" to "these QBs" but those guys don't work for me. I can't tell them what to do. I was going back and forth with them all afternoon |

Well good work, atleast you gave it a try...:) |

I cannot believe that VY is in the top 10. What in the hell are people thinking!?

For some reason people go crazy for a RUNNING QB... |
Re: SportsNation knows something
Well if they want to evaluate running QB's then do it on another poll. Ron Mexico still beats VY in that dept. and I dont believe that he was in the top ten. If he was then oops.

I agree, I do not believe that MV or VY are in todays top ten QB's... All I am saying is that the public, for whatever reason, goes crazy when they see a running QB... |

Yes, yes, because the do it (run) so much more differently than the other 21 players on the field. |

Must be the reason, because most running QB's have piss poor passing abilities... |
Re: SportsNation knows something
Why don't they just call them what they are "Eighth backs" or "Path Backs". Something, but just not a QB.

not to add fuel to the fire with mentioning the name ramsey here but didnt gibbs say ramsey was his starter at one point...and then end up putting brunnell in there? campbell maybe a "gibbs" draft pick but the reality is any slight injury and here comes brunell off the bench. Gibbs did it once and i am sure he wouldnt hesitate doing it again. I dont know what his infatuation is with brunell but the truth of the matter is this...brunell unfortunately is the orignal "gibbs" pick at qb. |

screw brunell gibbs if he puts him in again and sportsnation |
Re: SportsNation knows something
Man I really wish Brunell's name wasn't up in that poll. Just to avoid more discussion about him and Gibbs and Ramsey and so on

You really can't make a direct comparison there. The difference is Ramsey was not handpicked by Gibbs, Campbell was though. |
Re: SportsNation knows something
Someone at ESPN must know that Skins fans would be irked over this, either that or they just didn't do their homework on this.
JC closed the season as the starter and he's our unquestioned starter headed into this season. Nothing to see here, move along. |

JC closed the season as the starter and he's our unquestioned starter headed into this season. Nothing to see here, move along.
Here's how my conversation with them yesterday afternoon went Smack: Hey what's the deal with this SportsNation poll? Jason Campbell is the Redskins starter, not Brunell. You gotta change that (saying this knowing full well he probably won't) Editor: I see what you're saying. I'll change the wording to make it more clear. It's not necessarily starters. We wanted guys like Brunell who have a greater body of work in the NFL and it makes it more interesting to compare Favre to him than someone who has hardly played in the NFL yet. We threw Russell in there because he's the #1 pick. Smack: Sure it's interesting, but what about credibility? It's only hardcore fans really that check out polls like these. And I don't think we're appealing to the fan that knows Campbell is the starter. Plus we even say JC is the starter on the team page on our website. I realize that on some teams-such as Minnesota-there are no alternatives for a guy like Travaris Jackson. But I think Campbell has started enough games in his career to be included in this poll, regardless of what Brunell has done. Editor: He might. We wanted to try to represent each team. In retrospect, we probably should have just hand picked 10 or so QBs of different skill levels and been done with it. The difficulty comes with trying to represent each team. Thanks for the feeback. Good debate. Smack: Yeah it's definitely tricky. I think some fans could misunderstand the poll thinking now "Wait, Brunell is the starter again? ESPN must know something we don't" I agree though, it's a tough call, as many polls can be. My vote is still for Campbell though :) |
Re: SportsNation knows something
I don't see what's so hard in making up this poll, Campbell is clearly the starter.

That makes perfect sense. And guys like Jay Cutler(five starts), Tony Romo (ten starts), and Matt Schaub (TWO starts) all have a much more extensive body of work than Campbell as well... |

Yeah I shouldn't have brought this up in the first place. I'm just digging a deeper hole for my colleagues. Bottom line, I hear what everyone is saying and I made my point to the people that need to know. So hopefully things will be different next time |
