CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

thought this was interesting ARE is overrated to him

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

Everyone always equates overpaid to overrated. Was his value worth the Redskins spending all that money that could have been used to give Cooley or Taylor an extension? Was it worth the Skins not being able to sign a DE or DT? In my opinion NO. I DO however think that Randle El made the best of his limited looks in the passing game.

Overpaid, yes.
Overrated, no. I don't think ANY pundit expected him to come in and put up a thousand yards receiving.

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

He makes a valid point that ARE is getting big money for a #3 WR, but considering his special teams work and the trick play ability he brings to the table I think it's tough to put a price on him.

I kind of agree with that, he's probably not worth the money, but really who would be able to do all that he can do? I think he can be as good as the QB and the offense allows him to be. I know we have spent a lot more money on far worse so I am not going to cry over Randel'el.

Is he worth it?

FRPLG 06-04-2007 03:27 PM

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

I am not convinced he is not worth the money.

A solid econmoic argument can be made that teams like the Redskins, ie teams flush with cash, operate on a different salary cap than everyone else. Remember the salary cap is largely an accounting number and not a real money amount. In essence $10mil to us is not the same as $10mil to the Bills. For $10mil the bills would need to get far better returns than average. For $10 to us we probably don't even need average returns. The way the cap works in terms of money amounts is really very relative to teams respective financial positions. Of which ours is the best in terms of revenue and profits.

Ty Warren never gets any pub. Year in and year out NE always has a stingy run defense and it all starts w/ the nose tackle. Same with Kelly Gregg. That dude is like a fire hydrant.

I was surprised he gave our underrated to Golston. Personally I think our most underrated player is Randy Thomas, or Mike Sellers.

If I'm being totally honest, it's Santana Moss. WITHOUT a doubt I think he is a good receiver. He's being mentioned among the elite far too often with only one true "elite" season to show for it.

I agree with Golsen being underrated. I wouldn't call Randle El overrated. He does too many things and has the ability to change a game with one play, be on offense or special teams.

I think Golston is going to be a good underrated player in a few years from now, but it's hard to call a guy who only played one season our most underrated player, I much rather think veterens like Randy Thomas, Mike Sellers, Chris Cooley, and Marcus Washington should have received most underrated.

You say Moss but if I'm correct in the past you have really attacked MB for his arm and that he was playing like an old QB. With that said how can you blame Moss.

I haven't attacked him for his arm so much as his stupid decision making.

I don't see how this has to do with my choice.

I'm not so sure about El being overrated, yet. He does bring alot of various skills to the table, but we did pay alot to aquire him.

I'll give him the benefit and see how well he performs this season, before I argree with that.

by that logic shouldnt Andre johnson out of HOU be up there too? Hes bee every bit as prductive as RW with the same or less talent around him I think R. Moss is out of the top 10 now and santana was a lil low IMO i think hes around 6 or 7

I think that is the key. He is for sure overpaid. Now if you are using that as the guideline of defining overrated, then yes he is. But that doesnt mean he is an important part of the team.

Hey atleast he was right about Gloston.

If he is, in your opinion good when healthy, surely this means he isn't overated! How can someone you think is good be overated?

I don't think it is fair to call a player overated due to injuries...if you know he is good when not injured, then he must have been healthy long enough to show you how good he is.

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

There are times when I feel Phillip Daniels is overrated. It's most probably due to his super-human performance versus Dallas in 2005 and then not replicating that performance.

I actually think Santanna Moss is underrated. I think back to so many on-the-fly adjustments he's had to make these past few years. If you look at his touchdown highlights, his agility simply amazing.
Are you crazy?? He constantly keeping get doubled up and yet he still manages to get ball.. He is one of elite WRs..
I knew this would be controversial. When he manages to: 1) stay healthy 2) put up CLOSE to his 2005 numbers and 3) maintain #1 and #2 then I'll consider him elite. I love him. I think he's great and love him as our #1. I also hope he DOES put up those 2005 numbers. People tend to think that if someone labels someone as overrated, they don't like them.

Santana just has to show me that 2005 wasn't a fluke. Prior to 2005 AND in 2006, he was basically a non-factor. I think the potential is there, the fact that people are already anointing him "elite" is what makes him overrated to me.

We have said this time and time and time again about ANY player in this league. One season does not an elite player make.

If you're applying elite to Moss from one season, why not Tony Romo based on half a season?

GridIron26 06-04-2007 10:17 PM

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

You also can't really put Moss under top 10 based on 2006 season because of the QB situation.. All we can do is shut up and watch how far Moss goes this season with only ONE good qb..
