nfl network gone?

Ive been away for a while and when i got back the nfl network is no longer viewable to me on digital cable. Did this happen to just me or do you have to pay extra for it now?

Me too, and I get it because I get the NFL Sunday ticket so I can watch all teh Skins games. I've had it for like 8 years or something like that. I think I got it when it first came out. I can't live without it.

That is why I had it. I couldn't use it in Europe, but it was great for catching the skins while I lived in Georgia.

Do they not have a direct tv provider in Europe? Cause it's satellite, you should be able to get it from anywhere.
I still have never been to a Redskins home game, just away games. When the season comes around, that's all I do is watch the Skins, then whatever game sounds good to me for the second game. I live for football and I anticipate every week like it's Christmas morning.

DIRECTV does not provide service in Europe. European companies have their own Satelites.

That blows man...just another reason for me not to go there! :D

I love directtv...and they have gotten better with this new DVR...used to the old receiver would go out when it rains...now it has to be a MAJOR storm before it goes out, and I haven't seen it out for more than 10 minutes.

There are so many other reasons to go there that outweigh the lack of NFL football. Just go during the offseason.

Beer, Autobahn, Women, and Redlight are enough by themselves.

Well, Like I have said before, I am not a beer conesiour (sp?), but I would LOVE to drive on the autobahn!!!! I already have a wife, so women aren't an attraction...I'd rather go to hawaii or florida to see the hot bodies there.
My wife has begged me to take her back to Europe and I won't go. I've seen too many bad things happen, and I like the american way. :D

Did I mention that you do not get into trouble for consuming Hippie Lettuce in public. And I am telling you that you do not know what you are missing as far as the beer. I wouldnt be a conesiour of Beer either if all I have ever tasted is American watered down piss.

Haha...but the only beers I like are Bud light, bud select, sam adams, and corona. That's it.

Everywhere in Germany and Amsterdam. In Germany though you are only allowed to have an ounce on your person.

in my situation, comcast took it and bundled it with espn classics, and a bunch of sports stuff. it costs about 25.00 more a month to get. i am ready to switch to dish. can anyone give me some pros and cons of the dish?

angry's right, the beer in Germany is 1000 times better than the preservative laden piss water they serve here. Europe is a really cool place to visit especially if you like history and architecture. The German people are very friendly and most speak English pretty well so getting around is easy. Switzerland is incredible. Italy and Spain always seemed dirty to me but I still liked it.

Know why they want to charge you that fee? Because the NFL network wants to charge them a huge fee, yet wants them to put it on the regular package. The NFL is trying to get it both ways and it doesn't work like that. I pay an extra two whole dollars a month for the NFL network, well worth it in my opinion.

The same exact thing happened to me. You should have got a notice in the mail from Comcast. In my area it only increased my bill $5 or $10. But that was enough for me to call Direct TV. That way I can get the NFL package. So far I really like it. They will come out and install it but what they won't tell you over the phone is that the dish has to be able to face a certain way. It has to be able to face the satelite that Direct TV has in the sky. I live in a house w/ surrounded by lots of trees and they made it work so you should be OK.

My adice to you is call them. Screw Comcast. It's just another way for them to get more $ out of you. 1-800-direct-tv.

I hear you about Comcast screwing with us. I had DirecTV for over five years it was a PAINFULLY five years. First off their customer service is horrible, hope you don't like watching TV when it is raining out, and you will buying up a lot of new equipment in the future to keep up with them. Right now you are in the honeymoon stage with them.
I am not saying Comcast is heaven it is the lesser of the two evils IMO.

It's not gone but your cable company should be. I still have it on Dish Network.

Re: nfl network gone?

I've had DirecTV since December 2005 and I love it. I've never had any major issues with the weather, in fact it seems like my cable internet connection goes out more often during bad weather than the dish does. And of course you can't beat the Sunday Ticket. I've always had good experiences with their customer service and one time I had a longer than usual wait time on the phone and they hooked me up with all of their movie channels for free for 6 months!

Get Dish Network. I've had it for 2 1/2 years with no equipment problems and when I've had to call customer service with stupid questions or requests (like can I add a NYC local station...which they DID for me for just $1.50), they've been great.

Ah don't tell me that. I'm loving this shit right now. It has rained a few times since I've had it and I have not had any problems. I just could not take Comcast anymore.

^ Yeah, my Dish service has only dropped a few times in monsoon-like storms with thunder, lightning and heavy winds...so it's been very reliable. I probably shouldn't have the TV on in those conditions anyways, even with a surge protector.

One of my friends works for them. All I can tell you is they are taking alot of business away from Comcast and Cox in the DC area. So people down here must really like it. They are growing very quickly but still don't carry NFL Network in the DC area.

Get Directv not the Dish network.
Both are pretty good. But Directv is the exclusive provider of the NFL Sunday ticket. the only downside is a 2 year service agreement if you get the HD-DVR Receiver( YOU HAVE TO GET IT!).
They are coming out with a boat load of new HD channels in September.

I've only had 2-3 outages and they're usually very brief and only in extreme weather. You're right, in weather like that I usually unplug stuff anyway especially my plasma. If that got fried I'd probably cry.

Dish has 1-year agreements. :)

If you don't want to pay for the NFL Ticket, I'd go with Dish. Better service from what I've heard and noticed myself and for my preferences, they had a better channel selection and were a couple of bucks cheaper.

Re: nfl network gone?

I really think it comes down to what is best in your area. When I lived in Fairfax Directv was awesome no problems with signal or anything. then I moved to Maryland signal was out all the time and the local Directv workers were really bad.

Monkeydad 07-16-2007 11:36 AM

Re: nfl network gone?

Yeah, that is true. I've worked with a wireless network at my job and there are some locations where it's the best service available and other places where mountains or neighbor's trees that they refuse to cut make the service horrible.

Also I would like to add if you are raising a family and are mairred, if you can justify spending $350 on NFL Tictet to your wife and kids instead of buying food and school clothes, GOD BLESS YOU!

The ticket isn't cheap and of course you need to have your priorities. Still, it's something I enjoy and something worth saving up for.

Re: nfl network gone?

I’ve been a DirecTV subscriber since 1998 here in the ATL after leaving the D.C. area and there are no substitutes. If you thrive on watching the NFL (and especially if you are a ‘Skins fan living outside of D.C.), then DirecTV has you by the short ones. However, even with the high cost (and yes, I have a family) it has been a great experience. Fortunately, my wife and kids are big football fans so the family doesn’t mind eating Ramon noodles every fall. In addition, I recently convinced DirecTV to upgrade my service with the Plus HD DVR…for free! I’m not affiliated w/ them in any way, but I’ve been a happy camper for almost 10-years.

Re: nfl network gone?

I would dish out the money if I lived in ATL so I could see the Skins but, it is hard to pay that money when you get it for free on local channels here. In reality if you are out the DC market it is cheaper to get NFL Ticket every year then going to the bar every Sunday to watch it.

Dlyne8r 07-16-2007 02:30 PM

Re: nfl network gone?

Precisely mredskins. If we were still in the D.C. area, it would be a tough call to pony up the samolians req’d for the NFL Ticket. Yet, given that so many people in D.C. are not natives, and thus fans of other NFL teams, it remains the only venue to watch your favorite team if they reside elsewhere. Plus, that whole family thing I mentioned in my previous post? Well, that would be an even tougher call if I spent my time and money at the local watering hole!

MTK 07-16-2007 02:35 PM

Re: nfl network gone?

Regardless of where I lived I would still have the ticket. I like to be able to flip around and watch any game.
