Taylor Signed
George Michael just reported on NBC4 that Sean Taylor signed a 6 year deal with a 12.3 million dollar bonus. :biggthump
This is awesome. Looks like he'll be in camp on time and only miss one day of passing camp. |
WooHoo! Now the team is complete. I'm just glad he got in before camp on Friday. This way he dosent fall behind at all, and he should be ready to go week one vs the Bucs. 12.3 Million isnt too bad, I actually thought it would be higher, so its good we got a lower #.
|
This is good news for all us Redskins fans. Except for poor CrazyCanuck who now has to go rework his salary cap spreadsheets.

dude......sweet!
|
And all you guy's where so worried about him, SHAME!!!!!!! :biggthump
|
12.3 is not bad. I guess the tradoff was he signs for 6 years instead of seven. Hey i'll take it. 6 years is a long time not to have to worry about are bone crusher in the back.
|
i'm ready for some serious ST headhunting this season!
|
Lesgetiton!
|
ST, I present you with your official welcoming to the Redskins
:httr: Alright, I'm off to go celebrate with some underage drinking... |
Time to shine
|
so awesome thats hes signed. I wonder if he will be in camp tomorrow.
Weird that he signed for less of a signing bonus then last years fifth pick. I guess because hes a safety he got less. |
its cause his cap number needs to be under 2.18mill this year, so he probably got the biggest bonus possible + minimum salary, and he'll probably get the other 2-4mill as a triggered roster bonus next year or in 2006...
|
He had us all fooled. ;) He takes his good ol' time in getting another agent, but who's to know they don't waste any time in getting him a very, very sweet deal with no time to spare. Brilliant!!!!
|
I'm really pleased about this. Not a bad contract either.
:D |
Hurray! I hope we get to see him rock a couple Bronco's on the 9th!
|
Actually, the collective bargaining agreement for this year calls for a six year maximum on new contracts. His SB reflects that.
|
i was under the impression that the maximum of 6 years was for the amount of years you could spread out signing bonus money, not for limiting player contract durations...
|
will they release info about the incentives that could raise his salary or even provide another bonus if certain stats r achieved?
|
His situation sure improved quickly, in a very short span he went from not even having an agent to having one and then quickly signing a deal. Very nice! I'm sure the staff will be very pleased to have him in on time.
|
I was never worried about Sean Taylor. I knew he would get everything straight. Not so much because I know much about Taylor, but more because Joe Gibbs was on the job.
|
I could care less about what the contract looks like. The important thing is is that he is signed and he'll be in camp on time.
Looks like we will be able to see him come Aug 9. Which is 7 days away! |
aug 9th is a bit more than 7 days from now ;) (13 days) but i know what you're saying.
I guess the guys who polled first week or on time are both right on this one. One day isn't even worth mentioning (and i know its not really training camp, but its gibbs, so it really is). |
The contract terms are unclear. However, Taylor, the fifth overall pick from the University of Miami, was expected to agree to a seven-year deal with a signing bonus of around $15 million.
hmm.. i'll be interested to see if its 6 or 7 years, seem like no one is really sure... either way, from no agent to radified contract in under a week. Talk about grace under pressure. Mato and Moorad should be getting all kinds of good PR for how well they've handled things and how well things went down.

Solid words of advice from Arrington:
"Let him be a rookie, let him learn, give him the opportunity to be a rookie," Arrington said. "And if he exceeds that, then whoop-de-do, that's a great thing, but if he doesn't, then he's a rookie and he has to learn what it is to be a professional in this league and that takes a while. . . . "His athleticism, there's no doubt about it, so it's just a matter of figuring mentally if he's going to catch up sooner or later. It's only a matter of time. He'll be fine." |

That's right - sorry for the confusion. In any case, why would a rookie want a contract longer than that? If he lives up to the hype, it'll get renegotiated - if not, he'll get cut anyway. |

Meanwhile, in Cleveland...   |

Absolutely. These guys just became my favorite agents. |
wow, that's a lot of quotes ;) I'm just glad KWII is definately the wrong pick again, that's the way it should be.

I was just thinking.... Maybe the reason Taylor fired Rosenhaus was that he said they would hold out if necessary, and Taylor didn't want that. So he (finally) chose Mato/Moorad, who were obviously determined to get the deal done. Pure speculation, but it makes sense to me...
Plus, from what I read, they primarily work with baseball players, so maybe it gives him more attention as one of their only NFL clients. Anyway, it is AWESOME to see that the deal is done and he will not only be in TC on time, but is signed in time to attend at least one day of passing camp!!! (not sure if he will participate today or not) :biggthump |

But since it took SO long to get a new agent signed, I would be more inclined to believe it was related to the agent fee percentage. |
ST had a 7:30am flight to DC today, so it's very possible he'll participate in today's passing camp. :)
Things seem to be falling in to place very nicely all of a sudden, let's hope this trend continues in to camp and we don't have many bumps in the road. |
Very good news to wake up to this morning.

And the KWII watch is on......
|
And the KWII watch is on......
LOL - yes, and all of us Redskin fans are watching with smiles now... |
Not that I really care, but just wondering where KWII is in the signing process. Has anyone heard?
Glad to see Sean is signed. |
Taylor Press Conference, 1:15 p.m today.....per the Skins site.
It is official! WOO HOO!!!!! :laughing- :httr: |

The latest word is that the Browns expect Winslow to be a hold-out. The Poston brothers are trying to get Eli Manning type money.
