Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Just wondering, don't want to miss out on this league.

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
I was looking for the thread in which this one was started but can't find it. We had one and 8588 had made the list of unkeepable players.

Johnson T. Barber L. Tomlinson S. Alexander C. Portis Ronnie Brown C. Williams R. Johnson B. Westbrook S. Jackson E. James C. Johnson L. Jordan P. Manning L. Fitzgerald W. McGahee A. Boldin T. Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Other rules that i was unsure of:
1. We are keeping 3? 2. If you keep a player, you lose the pick in round in which he was chosen. 3. How does No.2 affect a keeper who was picked up as a free agent? 4. Will the ineligible and kept players be removed from the draft or do we need to know them going in? 5. When do we need to provide our list of kept players? |
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Yeah, all stuff I wanted to figure out, but I also want to join up in yahoo football again.

I personally think it'd be helpful to 8588 if we have them decided by this weekend so he can have those players taken care of as quickly as possible. (mine are once again Cooley, Travis Henry, and Baltimore) that's just going off of what my friend told me about keeper league's in general, but it's it's 8588's league. another problem it looks like we are going to encounter is we are missing 3 teams from what was already previously an undersized league. |
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
First, I want to move the draft date to a weeknight, I am thinking of having it on August 7 at 9:00 pm eastern. I will change this on monday night if I do not hear any responses as to why I shouldnt change it.

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Ok here are some Rules.
Roster size : 14 players. No injured reserved. There are no roster restrictions except that you must draft enough players at each position to field a starting lineup on opening day. With a roster size of 14, it is expected that 1 or 2 young players will be included on each team's roster during the season to develop into keepers. Each team can keep from 0 to 3 players. Any players drafted in rounds 1 - 3 of the previous year cannot be keepers. Players can be kept a maximum of 3 times. For example, you can draft a player in 2001, and then keep them for the next 3 years: 2002, 2003, 2004. In 2005, this player must go back into the draft pool of players. For each player you keep, you must give up a draft pick 1 round higher than the player's draft position the year before. If you keep an undrafted players (UDP) from the previous year, you must give up your 12th round pick. Players that were drafted and then cut still maintain their draft status. Example 1 : You draft Vince Young QB Titans in round 9 in 2006. He becomes the starter and you decide he's one of your keepers. In 2007, you must give up your 8th round draft pick (he becomes effectively your 8th round pick) to keep him. In 2008, he becomes your 7th round choice, and if you keep him for a third year, you must give up your 6th round pick in 2009. Example 2 : You draft S. Moss, WR Redskins in round 4 in 2006. You decide to keep him. In 2007, he becomes your 3rd round draft pick (you give up a 3rd rounder). In 2008, because his draft status was round 3 in the previous year, he is no longer eligible for keeper status and is returned to the draft pool. If you do not have a draft pick for the correct round to give up to keep a player, you must give up the next higher draft pick. This can happened if you trade away a draft pick during the season or have 2 keepers that have the same draft status from the previous year. Example 1 : You decide to keep your draft pick in round 13 from the previous year and you also want to keep an UnDrafted Player (UDP). Both require that you give up your 12th round draft pick. Since you only have one 12th round selection, to keep both players, you must give up picks for rounds 10 and 11. Example 2 : You want to keep a player you drafted in the 5th round last year. You also traded away your 4th round pick during the season. To keep last year's 5th round pick, you must give up your 4th round pick this year. Since you have no 4th round selection, to keep this player, you must give up your 3rd pick. When the draft is complete, the draft position the player ends up at will determine next year's draft position status. For Example : You have 2 undrafted players (UDPs) you want to keep. Based on the rule above, you will have to give up a 12th and an 11th round pick to keep each. If the draft completes with your 2nd keeper being your 11th round draft pick, and you decide to keep that same player next year, you will have to give up a 10th round pick to keep that player the following year. Keeper Status follows the traded player. When trading players, the players draft status (position) and keeper status (years he can be kept) is traded with the player. Example :In 2006, you drafted SEA QB M. Hasselbeck in the 5th round. His keeper status is as follows : Year Draft Position Keeper Status ---- --------------- ------------------------ 2006 5th round pick - Initial year drafted. 2007 4th round pick - 1st keeper year. 2008 3rd round pick - 2nd keeper year. 2009 Cannot be kept, picks in round 1-3 are always returned. Since his draft and keeper status follows him to whatever team he is traded to, he can only be kept for the 2007 and the 2008 season. 2009, he must go back into the draft because his draft position, which rises 1 round each year got too high. If this team could have drafted him in the 7th round, Hasselbeck could have been kept the full max of 3 years. |
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Also, we need atleast 3 more teams from last year for this to really work. If anyone has any questions or comments please, let's hear them. Even though I am the commish in for this league, I want it to be a league that the managers have a say in how to make it better...

I'm soooo in!
|
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
8588 - Should we just PM you with our list of keepers?
Also, will the draft automatically remove kept players and delete you from the draft round for which you are not eligible or will all that have to be done manually at the draft? BTW - Thanks for doing all the work on this. |

As i get the list from each of you i will list them and what round they are accountable for on our league page. Being that we are using yahoo, the managers will be responsable getting the players they want to keep on there team in the correct round... |
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Also, if you go into our league at the top and to the right of where it says our league name there is a drop down that says 2007. If you click on the arrow it will show 2006, there you can access last years league to see the final rosters and the draft results.

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
well my friend was completely wrong & it seems almost like one of those nfl network commercials. in that case I'm only going to keep Baltimore which was a 10th round pick and Travis Henry whom I picked up from free agency. so I lose my 9th and 12th rounders correct?

You don't really lose your 9th and 12th round picks, it is just that with yahoo, you have to pick Baltimore with your 9th and Travis Henry with your 12th. No one else can pick those players... |
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
So on draft day we actually have to use the appropriate pick and choose the player manually? Isn't there a way to set it up through yahoo? Will we all get a list of the pick's being lost so we will know ahead of time how the draft order will be affected? People will have a lot going on, I'm sure, on draft day, what happens if you screw up and use a pick you weren't supposed to?
I am not trying to be a prick and I greatly appreciate you working this through 8588. I am just trying to make sure we get it set up right and anticipate some of hte possible problems. Thanks 8588 |

Thanks 8588
I under stand what you are saying, and as far as I know with yahoo there is no way to take out players. What I need you managers to do is when I post the list of players that are hands off in our league, copy them down on a piece of paper that way come draft night you will have that piece of paper telling you what players are hands off. If by chance someone messes up then when the draft is over I will fix it. Being that I am the commish I have the power to remove and add players to teams... I am glad that you are asking these questions they need to be answered and asked. Truth be told, I am new to this myself. So any input is good input. And with me being new to this I will need help from time to time... |

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
I have 2 players I'm keeping for sure, but man. I'm struggling on one player if I should keep him or not. I didn't realize we lost draft picks!
|
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
A quick question, in the rules that I posted earlier, it says "a player that is drafted and then cut still maintains their draft status."
My question is this, do you want to keep that rule? Or if a player gets cut they just go back into the player pool. I am asking this because if you picked up a player that was drafted but not by you and you want to keep him then you have to abide by the rule of giving up a draft choice 1 spot ahead of where someone else drafted him. It makes no difference to me either way, just looking for input... |

Your not really loosing draft picks, you are just being forced in to drafting that player that you want 1 round earlier than when you drafted him last year. There are only 14 picks per team no more no less. |

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
I may have missed it, but have we set a draft order for this Tuesday's draft?
|
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Yes. Draft Order, No pick list, Keeper list and rounds people are ineligible.
For Me: Keeping Santanna Moss: Picked Rd. 4 - So I lose 3rd pick. P. Rivers (he p's a river heh-heh heeh): Picked 8th Rd. - So lose 7th Rd. M. Jones-Drew: Free Agent (don't think he was initially picked) - So Lose last round. Also: How will the no-pick round work? Can the draft manager make a person ineligible for a round? |

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
What does the Round next to the player's name mean? That's when they will be drafted tonight?
|
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
Drafted 8th when I won, gonna draft 8th and win again!

Yes, the round next to the players name is where that manager must pick that player, if that said manager doesn't pick that player with that pick than that player will become a free agent after that person neglects to draft that player. |
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
UPDATE: Players that are ineligible
Daseal's Darlings Andre Johnson - RD5 Joseph Addai - RD8 Ahman Green - RD13 |

Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
I am hoping it is not too late.
I would like to change from: Carnivorus Pigs Santana Moss - RD 3 Philip Rivers - RD 7 Maurice Jones-Drew - RD 12 TO: Carnivorus Pigs Santana Moss - RD 3 T. Gonzalez - RD 11 Maurice Jones-Drew - RD 12 |
Re: Warpath Keeper League: Starting up soon?
the draft's in half an hour, who's gonna be there?
8588, I just noticed that there are 3 players on that list of keepers that were drafted in Round 3 and therefore should be ineligible. The players are Santana Moss, Carnivorus Pigs, RD 3 Carson Palmer, The Posse, RD 3 Terrell Owens, Raging Dunderheads, RD 3 I might be wrong on this one, but shouldn't those players be ineligible to be kept because they were drafted in the third round of the previous year? |
