Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?

**Last paragraph of the article** Says Snyder has been impressed with Michael Strahan and should he become available, he could pursuit him. This is by far the dumbest thing Snyder could ever. Our D-Line is already suffering from aged players. Why add another? He's 35 and could ask for a hell of a lot of money. |

Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
This makes me curious as to what the Giants want as far as compensation would go. Strahan said he wanted to play for a contender. I doubt he'd want to come to DC.
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Redskins won't sign Strahan unless Strahan wants to stick it to Coughlin for a lesser than 4 million style 1 year contract. He's 35 recently divorced hoping for some help. Turns out he'll end up jobless til late preseason....
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
like i said in a previous thread, he wants 5-7 million per year. for three years. no way

Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Ugh, it will be Deion all over again. Please Danny just say no to Strahan!!

much worse than that IMO. When Deion was here, he played well, but he was no longer prime time & teams threw his way rather than to champ's side. Strahan is old & coming off injuries, I'm not even sure he would be able to take Daniels' starting job. |

That's BS. Strahan wants to be paid. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Although I believe Strahan could go somewhere and make a bit of a difference. I dont think he is the player that he wants to get paid to be. He is asking for way to much for someone not just on the downside of his career but nearly at the bottom of the hill. he wants to much and is to much of a risk. But if there is a team that likes these old players who only stick around for a year or two and are a shell of the player they were it is Dan Snyder and the Redskins.
I agree NO to Strahan! |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
He's definitely looking for one last payday and Snyder is the only one dumb enough to give it to him. Please don't let this happen.
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
I mean, if we didn't go after any fresh talent in the draft, I can't see us going after Strahan unless it's some divisional thing a la Arrington.
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Strahan wants big money and probably atleast a 5 year contract, he aint coming cheap. he is 35 so he is not young in football years. Like I said I do beleive he can still produce a little but he is not going to produce what he wants money wise.
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
It is all about the ROI (return on Investment) and I dont see the ROI in Strahans case high enough.
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Strahan was not a horrible player, but if he had played in Seattle or Green Bay, most people would not know who he is. He is largely a mythological creation of the New York Press. Mike Lupica probably had him on speed-dial. Pass.

Maybe we can get TJ Duckett for 3rd and 4th round draft picks! :smashfrea I don't care for Strahan either.. Old and has missed a lot of games the past 2 years.. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
We dont need Duckett we have Blaylock and T. Collins. both could be stars as they both know Saunders offense...:Flush:

I don't think Blaylock is in the same category as Collins in terms of general crapulence. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
The thing that concerns me along with the fact he's old and looking for a payday is he's been banged up 2 of the last 3 years. His best days are clearly far behind him.

Hmm, Ok. Leading active sacker in the NFL, and most sacks in a season wow that New Yrk Press knows how to creat. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Regardless he is on the way down, outside of 2003 he has barely cracked the top 10 In the NFC since 2002. Last 3 years he has not been in the top 5 in the NFC and he will want TOP 5 MONEY and CONTRACT. Again not a good investment as the ROI more than likely will not be good.

Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
This guy has been a pain in the arse for the Redskins for over a decade. If we could get him in here at a resonable price he would be worth it for the two games vs the Giants alone. He is a very vocal leader who could inspire our team the way the Lavar did last year.
If we could make this happen for the right financials then it would be a no brainer... Strahan has enough in the tank to rotate in at DE and stay fresh this season. Plus it would be worth it to see the look on Giants fans when he dons the burgandy and Gold. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
You are right but I would bring in alot of players for the right financials... shoot we would have bomb team if we could get the right financials. But a big part of his holdout is financial the guy is looking to make 4-5 mill this year with a contract extension. He may be a decent player this year stay with his recent trend of 7-10 sacks, but is it worth it to pay him that much for that? He also wants an extension, and is threatening retirement. I dont want that kind of guy, like has been stated he is looking for one last payday and once he gets it, he is done. he will collect his money and be another role player counting his benjamins....

Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
No interest at all in Straham. If they were going to sign an aging DE why didn't they look into S. Rice? Rice is younger and more available because he was already cut. Don't misunderstand me...I don't want either of them. Some said in a previous post that they need to look into a back-up for Betts? They already have that guy in D. Blaylock who if you recall, was a stud back up for the Chiefs (Holmes) under Big Al. No more signing of useless players please!
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
We don't need an old, often injured, past his prime DE looking to get paid cause his ex-wife took his ass to the cleaners.

The article said that we received sub par scouting reports on Rice and did not entertain the idea of bringing him to Redskins park. |

It was in the Simeon Rice thread, Matty posted it. From the washington post.

WHAT? The man has the all time single season sack record...he is the current leader in sacks for those still playing. While I do think New York players get a lot of attention, Strahan, whether in Seattle or Green Bay would get the same amount. That being said, we'd be dumb to sign him. He hasn't really been the same since he had 18.5 sacks in 03...in 04 he got injured (forgot what he injured) and has only had 18.5 sacks in 04, 05, and 06 COMBINED. (33 games). He's old, and any player that has played his entire career (14 seasons not including this year) with one team and wants to leave at the last minute doesn't care about the team he is going to. He cares about himself. No thanks. |

Thank you. Dude had 22.5 sacks in 2001. He was definitely a stud. Not so much, anymore. I don't really see Gibbs getting on board with this -- no matter how much Danny wants him. |

I think these writers just write stuff to hear themself think. I also heard buy someone at FOX who has talked to Strahan everyday the past two weeks said Strahan IS NOT looking for a new deal. He also said Strahan was disapointed that the Giants are making this look like all he wants is a new contract when in fact he just does not know if he wants to play or retire. Its hard to tell who is telling the truth. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
The Danny may have upped the price on Leonard Davis & the pokes paid him 18.5 mil in bonus $.
Maybe the Danny, intentionally or not, is driving the price up on Strahan. I hope! |

Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
The thing is, when there were rumors of the Skins trading for Strahan in the offseason, guys like Merrill Hoge were talking about how Strahan would instantly make the Skins D legit.
If they were hell bent on going after a defensive end, I'd rather them look for situational help. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Rice > Strahan
|
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
LOL......................
You guys want him you can have him!The Skins are the best retirment plan the Giants have ,need I go and start naming players from NY to Wash? Look he has'nt played a full season for us in 2 years and his wife took him to the cleaners ,he's coming off a serous foot injury and we don't know if he's healthy or not,and most of all do you really think the Giants will let him go inside the divison.....remember he's still under contract. |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Everyone was saying that Rice is over the hill and his best days have past. Well Michael Strahan is old and washed up. Why would we sign a guy that is 4 years older then Rice. Synder is an idiot, he is killing this team. I would go after Alex Brown or Rice before I would go after Strahan. The possibility of signing Strahan reminds me a lot of when we signed
Barrow, Armstead, Trotter, Deion Sanders, Dan Wilkinson, Dana Stubblefield, Duckett, Brunell, Brad Johnson, Larry Centers, David Patten, Andre Reed, Troy Vincent, Mike Rumph, Matt Bowen, Trung Canidate, Laveranues Coles, Jeff Posey, Lloyd, Randel El, Believe me Strahan will fit on this list of under acheivers--over paid players that Snyder brought in. Here's a list of guys we could have made a move for this year. Darwin Walker, Kris Jenkins, Tank Johnson, Corey Simon, Alex Brown, Kevin Carter, Ian Scott |
Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
Why for Godsake will we go after him!!!!!!! If the Gmen don't want him why do we? We will pay up the qazoo for a guy who will give us maybe one decent year if that. If we should have gone for anyone it should have been Rice. Strahan's tank is empty, Rice still has something left to give. Can you say Dana Stubblefield?!!!!!!!

Re: Redskins Could Become a Suitor for Strahan?
