Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Well, what can I say?? This is not exactly a pretty game especially on O side..
- Jason Campbell: He looked good, but not great as we were hyped for him to be.. He threw some good throws and threw some bad throws too.. But he's getting smarter, I could tell.. - Mark Brunell: He looked horrible, no positive thing he did on field.. I mean he even laughed at sidelines after coming in from horrible series.. I think this man should be cut from Skins and give Jordan Palmer a chance to play.. - Todd Collins: Even though it was only one series but I am impressed by him.. He was perfect, offense moved pretty well which ended up a td by Marcus Mason.. I admit, I was one of those guys who wanted Skins to cut Collins but after this game and if he continues to do thr the preseason then I say we keep him and cut MB.. - Marcus Mason: He looks pretty good, I hope he makes it on team but this wld cause some plm since we are over-crowded with RBs.. Cut Blaylock and Brown.. - Defense: I am really happy with our D-line against the run.. I really am.. London Fletcher look pretty good.. LaRon Landry did good too.. BUT I am little bit worried about our secondary, granted they were just 2nd and 3rd stringers.. But still.. They still gave WRs plenty of cushions. Even tho this game is ugly cuz of O game, I am still happy we won the game :D |
Your thoughts after Preseason Game One...
Rough night for Jason Campbell. I thought he played ok. Made a few good throws, some not so good throws. He needs to learn to hold onto the ball when he gets hit. He did show that he's not locking in on one receiver, and that's a big plus. Also shown that he has great athleticism to escape and scramble. Our pass protection wasn't there tonight. Maybe the absence of Chris Samuels is a big difference?
The defense? Looks like they have improved big time! London Fletcher....the guy is a beast!!! Awesome pick up for us! Landry had some nice hits tonight as well. Mark Brunell was uninspiring, but what about Todd Collins coming in and going 5 for 5 and to lead our offense to their only score of the night? Of course, against 3rd stringers! All in all, glad we won the game, but hope we see more from our starting offense. I'm satisfied with our starting defense. |

LOL!!! I was about ready to say the samething. I think we tied...lol! |
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
campbell was avg at best. Two fumbles on the first two series. Miss some easy throw. Had a great one to moss.
Brunell sucks has to go no mobilty and no arm strengh Collins looked good Defense was better. Still no pass rush. |
Re: Your thoughts after Preseason Game One...
we need a pass rush. london played well so did rocky. Montgomery made afew plays. Brunell stinks and i'm being kind. Still a long way from being a playoff team.
|
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
At least our D didn't give up a TD. That alone is a plus for our D from last year.
|
Re: Your thoughts after Preseason Game One...
landry looked good too. ARE has to catch that ball he missed.
|
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
it helped that the other team best QB didnt play because he a knucklehead. K. Collins and he mad the skins d look better than we are.
|
Re: Your thoughts after Preseason Game One...
I am just glad that our D, no matter if it was 1st string or 3rd string, did not give up a TD...

Well, who cares about Brunell? He's not the starter anyway. I am more concerned with Jason Campbell and hope he can be our leader this year. I thought he made some good throws, but would've been a little more happier if he could've lead us to a TD drive, but anyway, the defense was pretty solid. I'm excited about London and Rocky! Hope to see more from Fred Smoot. |
Re: Your thoughts after Preseason Game One...
our offense stinks right now. The running game was horrible. Pass protection was ok

I think we can fix our pass protection, but it is important that we have a healthy Clinton Portis playing for us this year! |

Merged...

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Considering it's the first game I'm happy with it. As usual the offense takes a bit longer to come around. If our starting crew has another night like that in game 3, then it's time to worry.
Question, how many of the starters on our line played consistently? I know I saw the rookie T from MD in there, but I had company and couldn't quite focus on the game as much as normal. It seemed as if the Titans had a lot of pressure with just the front 4. Will 10 yard torrents haved this game? Since I missed large chunks? Did Lloyd get any playtime? |
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
the reason i bring brunell up is he still on this roster. He taking a roster spot from someone who could help this team win. The man cant play. Also he Gibb's boy. He painful to watch.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
lloyd not playing he has a boo boo
|
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Campbell looked ok. Our starting offensive line sucks, Jansen didn't look good, neither did Heyer or Wade. Our backup o-line didn't look good either. Brunell was unimpressive. Collins did decent, led our o to the only scoring drive of the night. If Collins continues to look good and Brunell looks bad, we could see Collins take the #2 spot. Our defense was by far the most impressive thing of the night, great decision to bring Fletcher in, he's a beast. Landry looked ok from what I saw, but I didn't see much of him lol. We still aren't getting any pressure from the d-line, but then again I didn't have high expectations for them to begin with.
|
Re: Your thoughts after Preseason Game One...
The D looked great. No running game to speak of early on. Brunell is redefining the "over the hill gang" [leader]. So typical of Collins to look good against 3rd stringers. Is he now the 2nd stringer since Brunell is god awful? Not joking here...
The Offense looks like a reflection of 2004 season all over again. Saunders was sweating bullets up in the booth. Man I'd hate to be him right now. Campbell actually looked alright. Unfortunately the O line just sucks. Please no, not another Patric Ramsey!! Hail! |

Chris Samuels was out, so that probably had some to do with it. I don't think Lloyd suited up for this game. I didn't see him in there at all. |
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
brunell should be third sting at best. Cut his A-- keep palmer. At least he younger.
|
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
JC looked pretty good, that is, when he was protected. Granted, he fumbled twice, but both fumbles occurred when pass protection completely broke down. I was happy just to see him get a few throws downfield.
The O-line was dreadful - they couldn't open running lanes, they couldn't pass protect, etc. I was simply shocked by how poorly they performed. The first team defense looked pretty nice. London Fletcher looked promising. Laron Landry can definately lay the wood. Imagine how they would have looked had Griffin been in. |

He was out due to some minor injury. I believe his vagina is bruised. Sorry, I simply don't like Lloyd, but he actually was held out due to injury. |
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Will JC could have done better and threw Good passes and who have been 12-14.But alot of the WR droped the passes which is ok.But I'm impressed with how he turned out to be but also this showed how he would be if it was him being pressure? Wait.............Could this be a test FOr jc you know let the DL of the titans slide to see how JC can do with that much pressure?.
K its em brassing if you had 3 Turnovers 4 Sacks and a 6-0 LEad in the 4th with 2 min's left:nono: I'm impressed with the D but the O i hope was just playing in a bad day . |
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Game is a mixed bag. O line gave up 4 sacks and the running game was not there, but most of the preseason games you will not see much of a running game anyway. JC was ok, but 6/14 with 2 fumbles isn't going to get the job done. Liked the nice grabs by Moss and Randle El, but that was pretty much all of JC's passing yardage. We need Llyod in the mix to really do the damage. Defensively we were back to '05 form against the run for the most part, but alas.. no pass rush yet again. Secondary is average and so far will get burned for the occasional big play again. So far I do not see much of anything to say we are a playoff calibre team yet.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Fletcher looks like the real deal and finally a good veteran pick up by the FO. Campbell had some moments, but didn't do a good job at all of feeling the pressure. Defense overall looked pretty sharp and got their hands up in the Titans qb's faces, but most of the pressure came on blitzes. Speaking of, Landry looks like he could be a force coming on the safety blitz. Offense definitely wasn't clicking like we'd all want, especially the running game, but we know they'll open up more non basic plays next week.

lol SGG

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
In a nutshell, the total offense has alot of work to do to include JC, I thought he would look better, but its week one of pre-season. I'm also Keeping in mind we have some key guys out, that will make a difference. JC however needs to learn how to hold on to the football, those mistakes could have been very costly. Same old Brunell. Collins looked better, put together a nice scoring drive! I think it would have to be time to send Brunell packing, looks like the same old same old.
The defense looked much improved! Fleetch played GREAT. LL looks like he is gonna be special, just ask Kerry Collins. As a unit they looked better than I expected, MAJOR PLUS! The positive ending note we won the damn game! That will be a boost, confidence well needed! 1-0 :) |
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Not impressed at all with the O-line. Buges definately has his work cut out for him. It's the first pre-season game, so I'm not going to get all stressed about it. It wasn't the prettiest of wins, but I'll take it.
But, the main lesson we should all take from tonight is this. If you lose your helmet, perhaps you should reconsider going for a tackle. I appreciate a player who has heart, but Anderson was a complete dumbass for going after that guy. |
Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans
Biggest victory for tonight! NO MAJOR INJURIES!!!!!

Your wrong SGG. It wasn't his vagina this time.....it was that hang nail on his catching hand. He's a big wus! The damn boy better do something this year, or hes the next ARCH! One way ticket outta DC. I would rather give espy or bradford a shot, let them fight it out. I have the same feelings on Lloyd,BAD! |

"F" it we won!

I believe Lloyd's out with shin splints if I'm not mistaken. |

I gotta give this guy some credits for trying to tackling with no helmet on.. This guy should be on the rooster, perhaps practice squad.. |

ravin caldwell did the same thing in the 80's and was important on ST. Love the hustle

rather have him than lloyd or brunell

Yeah, I understand all that, but look what happened to him. I just don't think it was smart to do that. You can't win a roster spot when your head is splattered on the field. |
