How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home game.

Well finally we get to see some live football in our house!

I look for us to come out and play much better on the offensive side of the football. See the 1st line move the ball effectively and put a few in the endzone, and an improved o-line.....keep JC clean.

Defensively, hopefully a repeat! Last week was a pleasant suprise.

Of course NO INJURIES and we will cap it off with a WIN for the HOME crowd! Can't wait to be at a game!

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

Well, if you go by what we saw last week, it doesn't look good for the Skins. The Steelers' D-line is at least as good, if not better than the Titans. We have another week for the patchwork offensive line to gel, but I'd be suprised if we see a performance leaps and bounds better than what we saw against Tennessee. It'll probably be the difference in the game, and will be the deciding factor in whether the Skins offense can get on track.

If things continue the way they do, it won't be long before the fans and the coaches start fearing for Jason Campbell's health.

On another note, I watched Dallas' front seven harass the Colts' quarterbacks in their opening preseason game. They were in the face of the passer all night long.

We'd better hope Gibbs, Bugel and Saunders can figure things out up front pretty quick.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

The defense should be sound, but I expect the offense to be as bad as last week. As long as the offensive line is in shambles neither the passing game or running game will be effective. I expect JC to be quicker in delivering the ball to his check down receiver, so we may end up seeing a better completion percentage. Coley will be in to block so we will see nothing from him. Perhaps AR will have a good half against his former team.

The O-Line was the best unit on this team last year. If the skins are to have any success, then this year the O-line will have to return to last years form and I ma not sure they can do that

Our O line is swiss cheese. Pittsburgs D line will maul our shoddy excuse for a offensive line. JC wont PHYSICALLY be able to play past the first quarter. The steelers are going to pin their ears back and blitz us ALL FUCKING DAY. I dont think its a good week to watch redskins football.....then again, i could be wrong. I mean, come on, I'm the guy that said Casey Bramlet was GOOD and would be picked up by an nfl team in a week or so! HAHA. oh wait...i was right. crap

Not a good week to watch REDSKIN football......? are you kidding....NO SUCH THING!

The so called swiss cheese, won't be so swiss. The line will be MUCH better prepared......and will do a much improved job protecting JC. The running game will also step it up and be much more productive with an improved o-line coming to work and creating holes for the RB's.

well, lets hope so. For my sanity's sake. if we suck like we did last year, i will die or internal bleeding. I just dont see our makeshift, aging line doing TOO much better of a job. The titans D isnt all that great and they STUFFED our run all night. And if the skins cant run, then we be screwed and I think JG would tell you the same. Lets all just hope that our line will actually become a line and not a piece of cheese. Moldy swiss cheese.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

I want to see how Jansen and Wade look. I hope we have a better running game than against Tennessee. Also I would like to see more game planning for Pittsburgh's defense which we all know about. They will bring as much or more pressure than the Titans and I would like to see the Skins attack it rather than running the basics. At some point the first offense needs to get into rythmn and score some points. It's hard to do that with vanilla when the defenses are bringing the house.

Update: Wade isn't playing. So change Wade to Pucillo.

I think we match up pretty well. I would rather see our first team offense against their 1st team defense versus the titans 1st team defense.

I also hope to see an improved running game, but we have to remember who will be running...no CP and if Betts very little. I beleive Rock is out...,which he didn't do much last week anyway. So that leaves blaylock/mason to carry most of the RB duties. If the o-line holds up their end of the bargain, we should see a much better showing.

JJ will be fine, we'll have to wait and see if wade is gonna be able to make the transition....? Sounds like Pucillo has been working extremely hard, let's see how he looks on game day.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise that Wade is hurt & won't play.
by that I mean if Pucillo can step in & play guard more naturally & hold his own & Wade is slow to recover & get back in, the coaches may feel that Pucillo is the better man for the job & move on. Then we would have Wade if CS or JJ gets hurt.

I'm trying to be optimistic about it. Heyer is still w/the 1st team & it would be cool to see him show a lot of progress.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

I don't think we are going to do very well on offense. The left side of our line is a joke and I'm really worried about of WR's. We had better have some max protection schemes on pass plays so we don't get our qb's killed.

Hopefully Roethlisberger will remember to wear a helmet.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

It will be a good game. I think our D doesn't allow a TD in the first half. Our offense will move the ball better, but the O-Line won't be anything special. I look for us to pull out a victory with the backups in the second half.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

Ok, I have read that or Oline is in "schambles" and "the left side is a joke". We have had a total of one preason game and this is what skins fans are allready saying about our line. I'm not sure how someone could draw these conclusion as I would say the line is an area of concern. So what will you say if they come out and blow the Stealers off the line? Do they all of a sudden become supper stars. Maybe we need to just see how things work out befroe drawing these types of cnclusions from only one PREASON GAME.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

Offense
I don't expect the offense to be as good as it was last week. We're playing a better defense. Hopefully Campbell won't get killed out there. I don't see us running the ball effectively either. Brandon Lloyd should be playing and I hope he does because I wanna see him play and see if he got better.

Defense
I heard that Mike Tomlin may play Roethlisberger. But he's not even the problem..it's Charlie Batch. He can light up the field as if he's a starter. But we probably won't see much change from last week on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm buying that 1st, we've had one damn game...? Let's see how we look after the second, third and fourth pre-season games....are we progressing as we think we should.

I think the entire o-line will be just fine to include the left side.....just wait till CS arrives back healthy, ready to rock.

And our defense is suddenly the top group in the NFL. Let's remeber folks, things are never as good or as bad as they seem and in the pre-season things are not always what they seem at all.

Hey, quick question for you guys...

I'm in Chicago right now for a wedding, and the game isn't airing on any of the local channels. Are there any websites I can pay to stream the game?

I know it's just preseason, but I gotta get my Redskins fix.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

Well we have the baddest man on the field and I am sure the Grim Reaper is ready to rumble. Our o-line is going to struggle until Samuels gets back but you take a three time pro-bowl left tackle off of any team and they are going to struggle.

I look forward to seeing the d against a physical running team. Pittsburgh wants to bloody your mouth. Well guess what, so do we.

ncskinsfanec 08-17-2007 11:10 PM

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

I don't think in any way a preseason game is going to give a whole lot of indication in the direction in which a team is headed. The Colts went winless during last preseason and look where they ended up. The only somewhat meaningful preseason game is the third one, and that doesn't really show a whole lot either. The Preseason should be a maximum of three games and probably two. I can't wait till the regular season for some real meaningful football again. The ony game I'm interested in how the Skins size up right now is September 9th against Miami!

I have a baaaad feeling. Steelers have had 15 two a days this camp, Skins have had 5, one of which had a a.m. session that was a walk through.

I think he Steelers are going to come in lean, mean, and on the same page. Plus Timlin, being a first year coach, has a chip on his shoulder.

I think we are going to get it handed to us. THIS SUCKS.

Re: How do you think we size up with the Steelers this Saturday, for our 1st home gam

I think we'll probably see a lot of max protect schemes with Cooley staying in to block, and we'll run mainly 2 WR sets. We want to start developing the timing with the receivers, and also evaluating the potential o-line candidates.

Contrary to what the coaches may say, we wont be trying to win.

Don't look for the flashy 100yd bomb, but rather the execution of basic offense. The game will mainly be for personnel evaluations, and position development (specifically JC).

With this mentality you may as well bury your head in the sand. I don't give a shit if you march the Steel Curtain into here. This is our house and Gibbs isn't going to let anybody walk in here and embarass us.

We are the MUCH better team. We outplayed them with our #1 & #2's, no problem the #3's they probually had us by a notch, but after being at the game and watching the tape several times the QB/MB was not the problem. And once again the D looked really stout, NO TD's ALLOWED, NICE.

The offensive side of the ball looked much better also. Dodged a bullet with JC and MW really good news on both those guys.
