Who Stays, Who Goes?
Well here we are again. At the crossroads, where coaches and players meet to discuss whether a Bentley is within the budget or a bus ticket to the unemployment line. I have several veterans who I think will not be returning. James Thrash, Mark Brunell,Ade Jimoh and Khari Campbell. Jimoh is a decent special teams guy but never transferred the talent as a CB in coverage. I mean damn, just take a look at the Redskins website and you see Jimoh on the highlights and photos out of position. Like Jimoh, Campbell's strength is in special teams. But has a LB who can stop the run and drop back in coverage? I don't think that's what GW is expecting. Basically, H.B. Blades just out tackled all of the LBs in the league with 21 before the Jacksonville game. The rest of the guys are:
Askew Beasley Bell Berman Bradford Brown Brunell -Seahawks Buzbee Doughty Edwards Lefotu Nordin Sinclair Trucks Thrash Albright Boshetti Armstrong Sartz |

Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
Bradford isnt going anywhere with the loss of espy.

I think it'd be a very bad move to cut him because he's shown very good potential. On a personal level I wouldn't wanna see Doughty go because of his child. Can't help but feel for the guy. |
Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
I don't see a receiver on our roster that will take the 4th receiver spot from Thrash. He's reliable, has good hands, and busts his ass on special teams.
There are 75 guys listed on the roster (according to Redskins.com). Eighteen cuts from my ignorant eyes: Berman, Carl Hoag, Ryan Toler, Burl Nordin, Jake Edwards, Eric Armstrong, Calvin Brown, Dee Mason, Marcus (Practice Squad) Brunell, Mark (trade to someone for a 5th) Whitley, Taylor Fabini, Jason Trucks, Anthony (Practice Squad) Sinclair, Matt Askew, Matthias Torrence, Leigh Westbrook, Byron (Practice Squad) Wilson, Chris Bell, Brian There are certainly vulnerable players left on the 53-man roster. I'd expect that Bradford would be expendable if McCardell wants to keep playing. The right player cut from the right franchise might shake things up here as well. |

Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
wow sunra, we cut our only long snapper?????? lol. very interesting
|
Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
Practice squad predictions Buzbee, Hickman, Mason, Westbrook, Sartz and that animal who chased down the play with no helmet! Love that guy.
From everything I have read Chris Wilson is making the team. Bold prediction: Trucks make the team. |
Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
mason has undoubtedly done the best of all our backs. tho he is goin against 3rd stringers. he was veryy good vision.
he is better at returnin kicks then rock is. cut rock |
Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
Here is who I have getting cut:
LB Matt Sinclair LB Anthony Trucks DT Ryan Boschetti DT Matthias Askew DE Justin Hickman DE Alex Buzbee CB Leigh Torrence CB Byron Westbrook CB John Eubanks S Reed Doughty OL Taylor Whitley WR Burl Toler WR Carl Berman WR Ryan Hoag OL Calvin Armstrong OL Kili Lefotu RB Dee Brown RB Marcus Mason FB Brian Bell TE Jake Nordin TE Eric Edwards QB Jordan Palmer/Mark Brunell |
Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
You heard it here, Jimoh gets cut and Torrence stays. The animal with out the the helmet stays to. Another promise is Fabini is gone. I cant see Sinclair making the team, but the coaches love him.
|
Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
i like trucks, mason, westbrook for PS. hating palmer right now, but he may stick around anyways. he didn't look like he'll ever be able to play in the nfl... depressing.
for DB, i think springs, smoot, rodger, macklin, taylor, landry, prioleau, and stoutmire are locks, leaving at most 1-2 spots there... rough. that's doughty or jimoh or fox... they tend to prefer 5cbs though. |

Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
don't cut boschetti, hes a really nice guy. haha but in all seriousness he's gone unfortunately.

You may be right. I hope he or Macklin can cover punts. Macklin does well for me on Madden, but that's 90% me. Yes I punt on Madden against the CPU (All-Madden skill level). Who do they keep instead of Fabini on my roster above? Update: Jason La Canfora says they keep Kili Lefotu. And Marcus Mason might stay so that would push Beasley out possibly or they could cut Sartz and go with 6 Lbers instead of the seven. Also they could keep 6 CBs and 4 safeties which would mean Stoutmire or Doughty are out and possibly Lee Torrance and Jimoh could stay. To me that's the toughest call they will have. Furthermore, obviously Hoag as 5th WR is a flyer on my part. It will more likely be Bradford. Gibbs was asked about this in his presser today and said that keeping 5 is not "essential" but that you would be "right on the ragged edge" with 4. You have to hope no one gets hurt. I interpret that to mean they are most likely keeping 5 but if they absolutely can't bring themselves to cut Doughty, for example, they might take that chance. |
Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
I'm crossing my fingers for Trucks. He works his butt off, and I'm also a complete and utter homer for a local guy. In all seriousness, I think he may have earned a spot.

Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
if we dont cut jordan palmer i will be extremely disappointed because that kid will never play a down of nfl football at QB. he was awful against mop ups for jacksonville, very very unimpressed and i hope nobody argues with me. we can find a talent equal too or greater in the 7th round next year or even in rookie free agents next year, let him go!
on another hand i also think reed doughty is gonna make the team over jimoh because the skins are invested in him after last year. he has also shown pretty well too. we would be crazy to put westbrook on the practice squad, he gets toasted frequently and just looks like he cant compete with nfl athletes. i was rooting for him though because he was a fellow division 3 player. how about ryan hoag on the practice squad? hes played good. i like trucks and sinclar but its a numbers game and i dont think either will make the team unless the redskins cut khary campbell which very well could happen since hb blades has shown so well. practice squad is as follows: ryan hoag, leigh torrence, alex buzbee, dallas sartz, pete schmitt (will be resigned), marcus mason, stephon heyer (that may shock you), lorenzo alexander (although i really see him making the 53 man roster). |

The Skins are thin at wide reciever and I would not want to cut that position making it even thinner...but what would 2BIG2BSKINNY know about thin! |

Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
yeah all the rosters in the NFL should be down by 53 by now. I've been looking but I haven't found anything yet, other than a J-La blog post saying he thinks so and so has been cut.

Re: Who Stays, Who Goes?
JLC's blog on the WaPo website. He just said he talked to Renaldo and Renaldo told him he got the axe. I'm saddened by this news but I understand that it's the part of the business nobody likes but has to get done. He was a leader in the locker room for these past few years and another one of those truly nice guys you always wanted to see succeed. I really hope him and Salave'a find another franchise to sign with, both are some of the nicest guys in this league and I would hate to see them end their careers on this note.
