Renaldo Wynn told reporters on Saturday afternoon that he had been released by the team.
Wynn, among the longest-tenured Redskins, has played for the Redskins since 2002. He previously played five seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Wynn, a 6-3, 296-pounder out of Notre Dame, established himself as one of the more popular players in the Redskins locker room, as well as in the Washington, D.C., community.

On the field, Wynn was a steady presence, particularly as a run-stopper, the last five seasons.

He logged 18 tackles (14 solo) as a reserve last season. His best season was 2004, when he started 16 games and recorded 58 tackles (38 solo) and three sacks.

In the community, Wynn started the Family of Faith Foundation. Every year, he hosted a holiday shopping spree for local families in need at a Target shopping store.

Last June, he had the first-ever Renaldo Wynn Car Show Summer Fest at Redskins Park to help raise money for Wynn's foundation.

Wynn is the third veteran defensive player the Redskins have released in the last two weeks. Linebacker Lemar Marshall was released on Aug. 21, and defensive tackle Joe Salave'a was released on Aug. 28.

Sad to see him go. Hes a nice guy.

Well not real surprising after seeing us let Lemar, and Joe go. I had Wynn making the team, it's sad to see him go. Hopefully he can hitch on somewhere else. Good Luck Renaldo, thanks for the 5 years of wonderful memories you gave Redskins fans.

I really thought we would of held on to him for at least another year. I like him as a player and person.

I really like Jimoh, nice special teamer/gunner, but not even a good depth corner back, and we already have solid depth at CB. He was gonna have to make it with his ST abilities.

With that said I did not thank him or stout would make the final 53.

I have heard that Ade Jimoh confirmed to reporters at Redskins Park that he has been officially cut.

While it hasn't happened around here in a long time, I wouldn't be too surprised if a few of these cuts get re-signed after Week 1, when their salaries are no longer guaranteed.

I was one of those who wanted The Ade gone, so I'm happy. I don't think someone should hold onto a roster spot simply because he can play special teams, he should also be improving on his chosen position, and The Ade was not improving at all at being a cornerback. Good luck to him elsewhere, i'm sure he'll catch on.
