Team Captains?

Wasn't there a change in the rules so there are like, 3 offensive captains, 3 defensive captains, and 1 special teams captain that stay the same all year? I'm just curious. If so, anyone know who the Redskins picked? I'd assume Campbell, Portis, and Samuels or Jansen. Then Taylor, Washington, and Griffen.

Anyhow, I'd love to know!

I think you are on point there with the offensive ones. How about Fletcher on defense, I know he is new but isn't he suppose be a leader on d. Also what about special teams?

I don't think it has to be 3, 3, and 1. The Pats supposedly have 4 defensive captains.

Re: Team Captains?

I still don't know who the captains are. I didn't see any players with the "C" on their chests and I couldn't find anything on the skins' site. I don't know why this is bothering me so much but I'd would like to know. My guess would be Thrash, Jansen, and Fletcher (though I didn't see the captain logo on him). I saw Green and Feely had the "C's". Maybe the skins aren't doing the captain logo thing I don't know.

Why thrash?

Thrash because he was on the NFL player advisory committee that made the recommendations for the new team captain recognition thing to the commissioner.

Second, because Gibbs loves Thrash and thinks he's an integral part of the team as a leader.

It looked like Rock and Randy Thomas were present at the OT coin toss. Don't know if that means anything per se, but still.

Because he's super smart and fights his guts out.

Ive heard that its a team option to put the C on the uniforms. Im wondering if were not doing it because we have the 75th logo on the jerseys. I personally think its pretty gay. I think its awsome were not doing it. I dont see the reason why a player has to have somthing on his uniform to make himself different from the other players. How about we start putting stars on the helmets for each good play a guy makes like in high school. Just my personal opinion. It would be nice to have a list, or a annocement before each game of who the captins are.

I'm glad we're not using them. It's a nice idea but they're too big and ugly. Besides, it's a team sport anyways.

Re: Team Captains?

Not to mention you shouldn't have to have a patch to be recognized who the "leader" on a team is. The players know who the true leaders are and listen to them patch or not.

Captains, eh? When did we land in the great white north, eh? Does this C on my sweater make me look fat, eh?

That's fine and dandy that they are using this system, but dont' advertise it. It's like the dork who still wears his high school letterman's jacket in college...

Totally unfair analogy, some letterman jackets happen to have a really good fit and theres nothing wrong with wearing them well after graduation? Wait...

I just realized that I totally peaked in high school. Damn

Maybe it's my love of hockey, but I really like the "C" on the jersey. I think it's an added honor for the players. Carson Palmer said getting the C was as honorable as getting the Heisman Trophy. Don't know if I go that far, but I think it's cool.

The captains in hockey, have rights and responsibilities, however. The main one that comes to my mind is that hockey captains are the only players on the ice that can communicate with the referees (if I'm not mistaken).

So are the NFL captains more than just ceremonial. If Ronnie Brown is grabbing Landry's jersey as he tries to get to the QB, can Landry say "Hey ref, keep an eye out on this guy. He's holding." Or does Priloeau have to be the one to go to the ref?
