Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
anybody else watching this game? unfortunately both of their offenses and qb's are looking good, even Eli looks good, and Romo just has"it",some people have it and some people dont, and I think Romo def has it,the jury is stil out on Campbell,I would trade Campbell for Romo in a second and I'd throw in lloyd to boot.also Marion Barber is a frickin beast, man he's hard to get down
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
I think both of the QB's are looking good because the secondary coverage of both teams sucks but maybe that's just me. Marion Barber III does look good, though.

I'm much more impressed by Eli today, hes hitting his second and third targets seamlessly. While he's never going to be great, it looks like this will be the year he matures. The Giants D looks pathetic. The Cowboys D doesn't look much better.
Every time Marion Barber touches the ball hes a threat to break into the secondary. We are so lucky that Wade Phillips is in charge of personnel on that team. If I was, Barber would get 80% of the carries. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Giants' D is getting crushed! They're going to be bottom feeding this season.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
It's going to be interesting how serious Umenyiora and Jacobs' injuries are. Ose's doesn't look too bad, but Jacobs might miss a couple of games (maybe the Skins game?)
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
It's quite the conundrum deciding on which team you want to lose. Unfortunately I would rather Dallas win than the Giants. We seem to be able to handle Dallas better than the Giants lately.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
both defenses are playing like utter s@@@
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
both teams have me very concerned. At this point, both of these teams look better than the skins.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Two potent offenses and two thin defenses. Sloppy at times but everyone has seemed to shined at some point. TO has played very well. And Jacobs is a tank.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
yea its not TOO much to worry about, our secondary historically has T.O. scared... our LB's can flat out tackle, so Barber will be in check, both Romo and Eli look like pro bowlers b/c the others defenses are pathetic, especially in the 2ndary... and remember.... any given sunday, im not concerned our D is completely better than either of these teams, it's the offense, getting into a rythym and clicking against them we need worry about to win...
but still, focus on the eagles, they are next, that is all. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Bruised right shoulder for Eli!!!! Wow, this could be huge for the Giants. He is out, Lorenzen is in.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
I agree with the no D comment

Hmm you're in TX and a Redskins fan, so you say? and would trade Campbell for Romo? what are you smoking. umm barber what about Sellers. i would never want to think of romo as a skin nor never thinking of trading campbell now .... If Campbell was going up a D like that today. i think we would have won 40-13 |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
romo is not good(.)
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
A god damn joke. Both defenses are frigging sieves. IF we can get our passing game down we can kick both their asses.Get Cooley and Llyod involved and it will be fun. I am not impressed with our division as a whole so far. Skins and Philly look decent, but just that decent.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Romo is consistent, but they wont score like that against a good d, like ours!!!
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
They both did look good tonight, we are gonna have to work on our game if we expect to compete with them in the East this season.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
^ i dont think they could work as good offensivly against us.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Lorenz (or whatever the backup for NY is called) did one of the stupidest things I've seen today...
Sliding on 4th down! He's this huge guy and could have easily picked up the extra yard if he'd just kept going instead of acting like he's 5'11" 180 lbs..... |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
They both looked awful on defense. I thought our zone coverage was bad. So much for Wade Phillips freeing them up to play the way they're capable.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Horrible defenses. If our defense plays like it did prior to 2006 these guys will not score that much. The scary team in the division is still Philly IMO (I know, they lost to GB).
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
I have to agree the defences of both teams just didn't turn up the first score of the Giants was so predicatable it was untrue ...run run play action over the head of head of Henry and Williams .
I think the play of the first half was when the Cowboys were driving ... when wern't they? Romo barking out audibles and then Gourde just snapped the ball catching Romo totally unprepppared . You want to say they looked better than us then fine you go and support them I think Campbell didn't have the best day but Romo Vs a NFL calibre defence would be destroyed the timing routes where well off and Witten made big play over big play in the middle and was never covered .. The other thing that struck me is the injuries on both teams ...significant . I will conceed Marrion Barber is a stud, big powerful back but then he is being compared to Jones who is an absolute bust |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Romo is consistent, but they wont score like that against a good d, like ours!!!
We had better improve the intermediate passing defense (10-15 yards downfield) if that is going to be true. I'm also curious to see what our d line does against a "varsity" offensive line. We were constantly pushing the line of scrimmage back against Miami, Dallas and NY? We'll see. Kiawanuka (sp?) is a liability on pass plays. Cooley should (and will) abuse him consistently. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Honestly, if I'm EITHER team I'm worried about my defense, the Cowboys in particular. That's supposed to be their bread and butter. Next week we'll see what the Cowboys are really made of. Miami's defense should be able to shut down their offense pretty well.

I'm a redskin fan but I'm not blind,Campbell has never had a game or come close to looking as good as Romo did last nite,Campbell consistently misses guys that are wide open, and he misses them badly,I dodnt know if he gets too excited when he sees them that wide open or what.I love Sellers, and maybe if he got more carries he could compare to Barber, but right now he doesnt |

I don't know if it's just me or does anyone else notice that Romo's passes never hit anyone in the hands? I could be crazy, but sometimes I feel like his receivers make him look a lot better than he is. Like in nearly all of his passes last night it looked like some wobbly duck that people had to readjust to catch. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Both defenses played like total garbage and was the main reason both offenses looked 'good'.
Both defenses played like total garbage and was the main reason both offenses looked 'good'.
I agree. That was one of the worst defensive displays I've seen. Dallas kept hitting the same in route over and over and the Giants kept getting single coverage with Reeves on Burress. Neither team ever adjusted to what the other was doing. All the Cowboys players were saying in essence that Parcells was holding them back because he made them think too much and now they were going to be free to do this and that. What a load. Anybody that believes that a Wade Phillips team will outperform a Parcells team has bought a pig in a poke. As for the Giants, if they can't play defense, they are lost because Eli will not put up numbers like did last night much more this year if at all. And they lost that game anyway too. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good

Unfortunately, I tend to agree. It's early however, and if JC can get protection from his O-line, maybe he can calm down and improve. We still don't really have a pass rush defensively, only when we blitz the hell out of our defensive backfield (save the one good rush by Andre Carter). |

If you are speaking of the 'Skins zone coverage, you are absolutely correct. Man, they gave "seam" in zone coverage a whole new definition, and it wasn't good. Miami really tested Smoot as it seemed that they threw in his direction 98% of their passing plays. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
I was disgusted with the Dallas Defense last night. And then a friend of mine reminded me of something. I'll bet you all will remember it:
Dallas defense overpowered in 35-16 loss By TIM COWLISHAW / The Dallas Morning News WASHINGTON – The Cowboys were hoping to turn back the clock a year, to repeat the opening-night success they had enjoyed against Washington. That victory had set the stage for a Super Bowl season. Instead, the Cowboys turned the clock back too far. For the first time since 1989, when the Cowboys endured a 1-15 nightmare of a season, Dallas' defense gave up five touchdowns. One came at the close of a back-breaking 99-yard drive in the third quarter as Washington dominated Dallas, 35-16, before 56,345 fans at RFK Stadium. The date here was Sept 7, 1993 and the Redskins whooped our ass. But it was also the year Dallas went 12-4 and won thier second consecutive Super Bowl title. Now granted this is not the Cowboys of the 90's. But after week one I am certainly not painting a picture of doom and gloom for the remaining 15 games. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Yeah, I wouldn't say doom and gloom, but MAN those injuries are rough. Have you read what the Cowboys are going to do with Ferguson out? That changes the whole defensive scheme.

Dallas knew they were going to be good. They were defending Super Bowl Champs. In short the jury was not still out on that team the way it is on this one. I know one thing. If I'm playing the Cowboys, I'm going after Jaques Reeeves all day long. I have a friend who is an expert on the Broncos and he keeps telling me that Wade Phillips will be the best thing that ever happened to....The Redskins. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
That may very well be, but I fail to see what Emmit holding out would have to do with the defense surrendering 5 TD's.
And BTW, for the record, the Redskins are the best thing to happen to the Broncos. They are loving all those draft picks that have been traded to them over the last few years! And starting next week, Reeves will only be in on nickel packages as Newman will be playing. And the one interception the Cowboys got last night was by Reeves. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
I'm sure they are. Every year though I laugh at the Broncos because their fans must be pissed every year. It's like it's AUTOMATIC for them to make the playoffs, but you can ALWAYS count on them folding in them.
I'd be pissed, it's almost like the season doesn't matter. After that scare against the Bills I'm sure they'll pay more attention. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
I thought the offenses of both teams looked extremely good cause both defenses looked extremely bad. If Dallas has a D like that all season, they won't win even 7 games. It might just be a first night jitters, and a new coaching system. They have talent back there, so I'll chalk it up as a fluke for now.
ps- Does anyone know why Sinorice Moss didn't play at all last night? Also, how bad is Brandon Jacob's injury? |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Jacobs has a sprained MCL, similar to Samuels.
|
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Jacobs has a sprained MCL, similar to Samuels.
How long will he be out? I was hoping it was a tear since I picked up Ward. |
Re: Cowboys And Giants Both Looking Good
Offense sells tickets, defense wins games. IMO these two teams did not look good, defense makes up half of a team.
