Trading #85
The Bengals are thinking about trading #85 after this season I think he is worth giving up a draft pick. If T.J. Duckett & Brandon Lloyd was worth a draft pick #85 is definietly worth a draft pick. He is a proven NFL star he has the numbers to prove it. I don't see him as a distraction do you see Synder moving on #85 and would it be a good move for the franchise?

Re: Trading #85
While I'm definitely in the camp that says keep your draft picks, if we could acquire him w/out giving up too much, he'd be worth it. solid vet reciever, seems to have a good attitude, only this year he's been seen on the sidelines complaining about something.
Why do they want to trade him? |
Re: Trading #85
i thought you were referring to Brandon Lloyd, no way Chad Johnson ends up in D.C.
|
Re: Trading #85
we have enoguh receivers.... the combo of moss, randel el, cooley, and thrash is suffiecient... we need oline help.......
|
Re: Trading #85
no doubt, he's better than any receiver we could draft or have now.....if you put him on the other side of ARE or Moss, then they will be great #2's, i'd be for give a 3rd up for him......and Brandon Lloyd
|
Re: Trading #85
I don't think I would warm to the idea of Ocho Cinco playing for us. I like him, he's a damn good WR and puts up great numbers, but that's a distraction that isn't needed on a team trying to identify it's self. We all know we have a team that capable of winning, were just not clicking yet. Bringing in more big names isn't going to do anything special for us, just ask Dan Snyder.

Re: Trading #85
oh sh...
My BAD! I was thinking of #84. Disregard prior post. you should've said - ocho cinco (sp?) NO! |
Re: Trading #85
i still say we are good enough at reciever.
|
Re: Trading #85
Chad Johnson is great, and has one of the best work ethics of any receiver in the game. I would love to have him here. That said, he won't come cheap. There's NO WAY he's traded for anything less than a 1st round pick, and probably more. If we didn't have so many other issues to address, I wouldn't mind trading a 1st for him.
Is there a source for this info? |
Re: Trading #85
Not to say he wouldn't be a GREAT addition, but seriously, let's try to work with the draft some. Let's look at a young WR in the second or third rounds and see how that works out.

Re: Trading #85
This has got to be a joke. No way they trade Chad Johnson and if they do it'll be for at least 2 first round picks not for some scrubs.

WHAT! 2 first round picks, who is this Ocho Cinco you speak of? He is a good player, no doubt, but no reciever would be traded for 2 first round picks. |
Re: Trading #85
I also heard about Ocho Cinco being dealt away, I think it was on either Rotoworld.com or Profootballtalk.com

didnt they get rid of the best WR in the NFL now, for a 4th round pick...(Raiders) no way it cost 2 first rounders.......please, when the organization and coach say the consider, its the best offer.......not what they want, but the best they can get... |

So you're saying if the best they can get is a 6th rounder they would take it? No. They wouldn't. Also, Moss was largely considered to be past his prime, plus a malcontent, and a lot of his success was credited to working with Culpepper and Carter. Obviously that's not the case, but perception is everything. |
Re: Trading #85
Gibbs likely wouldn't want him, especially w/a young qb just starting to come into his own.
I bet JJ makes a play for him on the Cowpokes. They will look at it as the "final piece." |
Re: Trading #85
I disagree I think Gibbs would love a hardworking WR that will catch the ball & wants the ball every down and every game plus a team player.

Joey Galloway to the Cowboys for 2 first rounders ring a bell? |

Until maybe 2 years ago I'd agree, but in that time CJ has let all of the attention go to his head. He started keeping track of all the cb's in the season & writing it down that they couldn't stop him. The press interviewed him cause he was always willing to talk. By self promotion he's become a big star in a small market. Lately though, his hard work is overshadowed by his mouth on & off the field. There were reports of him causing a scene in the locker room at half of their playoff game v. pitt a couple years ago. When a player starts to draw that much attention to himself on the sideline on a regular basis you have to question the guy's concept of the team. We've got our own problems w/a #85, let's get rid of him & not bring in another problem w/the same #. |
Re: Trading #85
I think the answer is no. We have talent at WR but can't get everyone involved for whatever reason. Let's build some more peices to puzzle rather than giving away more draft picks.

Re: Trading #85
Joey Galloway to the Cowboys for 2 first rounders ring a bell?
that was a no. of years ago though & since then the market for trades has really changed. Teams show a lot more value for draft picks than vets. I think it's just a result of teams learning how to work w/in the cap & free agency as the system's gotten older. Also, in the cap era there are really only 2 main reasons to trade a guy: 1) he's at the end of his deal & you don't plan to re-sign him 2) he's a problem Of course you can always say you want picks to get younger, etc. but even then the cap hit has to make sense since trades escalate bonus $. |
Re: Trading #85
Id rather have TJ than him.....plus we don't pass the ball enough to make a guy like chad happy.....He would be a goat within his first five games and barely see the field due to his attitude and disrespect toward gibbs and williams......not a redskin at all

Isn't that all in fun? I do agree he did put himself out there but didn't distract anybody he made the actually football games interesting more than himself. |

Re: Trading #85
As a player, Chad Johnson is great. To me, his antics and humor help keep things light.
I wouldn't mind if the redskins traded for him. My issue is - how the redskins go about the whole trading processing. They just seem too eager for a player that they are interested in and they don't seem good at hiding it (eagerness and interest). My philosophy on deals is - who ever sets the first offer amount (whether it be the dealer or dealee, not a word? ;) ) usually gets the short end of the stick. |

You are right dmek! No way the B&G trade FOR #85. Now the title of the thread reads TRADING #85, and yes, I'm all for that in order to rid our WR corps of BL, but unfortunately the trade deadline has past! |
Re: Trading #85
If we can somehow get Chad Johnson and keep our first round pick for this year I am all for it. I would give up a second and a 4th for him, and use my first rounder on Chris Long out of virginia or derrick Harvey out of florida and use my third rounder on the best available offensive or defensive lineman
|

I clearly stated at the end of the season the Bengals would consider trading #85 plus BL isn't referred as #85 it more like garbage!!! |

How did you get all those picks? ;) I agree. I would love to have CJ on this team. I think he's a team player all the way. However, I can understand how some perceive him to be a malcontent. |

And to the person who said they would rather have TJ Houshmanzadeh than Chad that is assanine. |

What did you guys pay for Joey Galloway a few years back? And that's Joey Galloway! Chad Johnson is worth 2 first round picks that or at least a quality player and a first round pick. |
Re: Trading #85
What would Chad do for this offense? Gibbs is scared to let Campbell make plays already. The Skins have already invested millions into the WR position. I can't see adding yet another huge contract to that unit.
|
Re: Trading #85
Ocho Cinco is one of the best WRs in the league. Why would you pass on him for a draft pick? Because he's got an attitude problem? Well, Randy Moss and his attitude problem are headed to the Super Bowl and a possible undefeated season.
Chad Johnson would be a great addition to the team, if they let JC throw the ball more, which they might do after he's had a year in the system. Which secondary would be able to match up with Santana Moss, ARE, and CJ?!?! Clearly, our offense needs more fire power. Why would you not make this move? |

Why would you not make this move?
CJ will demand far more money than we're already paying Moss, and I have my doubts that Gibbs will ever loosen the reigns on Campbell. The Cowboys and Packers all but handed us a blueprint to attack the weak Giants secondary early and often, yet Gibbs stuck with a conservative approach with the lead in that game, as he did last week vs. Arizona with the lead. I guarantee that if Brady gets us down, he will step on the Skins' collective throats on Sunday. Gibbs seemingly prefers to play for a 17-14 win than to bury an opponent that's down. CJ's talents would be wasted here. |

Re: Trading #85
I really doubt that the bengals trade him....I just can't see that happening. But they are in DESPERATE need of some of defense...so who knows. I really find it odd that Marvin Lewis can't get that D any better than it is.
|
Re: Trading #85
CJ is not a redskin style of player. The grandstanding has never been the character for WR's as much as Gibbs has lead at the helm. Gary Clark was the most spirited WR's an he spoke volumes with his ablility on the field. Chad is a talented player who doesn't understand when people are laughing with him and when they are laughing at him. The later is more accurate when your'e not winning.
|
Re: Trading #85
I see him going to philly before coming here.
|
Re: Trading #85
If a 4th rounder could net Randy Moss, I give no more than a 3rd for Chad Johnson.
|
Re: Trading #85
Cincy will never trade Johnson...Skins need to stop investing in the WR position and use the guys they have:pimp:
