Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Wide receivers Cris Carter and Herman Moore and cornerback Darrell Green are first-year eligible candidates among a list of 124 modern-era players, coaches, and contributors who make up the preliminary list of nominees for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2008.

Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Hopefully this will be the year Green and Monk get in. If that's the case I'll be in Canton to cheer them both on. LOVE those 2, I wish we have 53 Monk & Greens on the roster. Terrell Davis from NFL.com said Monk is way overdo. These are the two classiest players ever!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
I really hope they both get in. If they both do, its highly likley we'll be in the HOF game....not that I want the 5th preseason game, but I'm already planning on going if they both get in and that will be even more reason to go to watch the game....I think Green is a first ballot guy, but I'm hoping for Monk.

Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
I say this years class is exclusive, only Monk, Green, Lomas Brown and Nickerson. You have to have class to get in and those other 2 also were classy players too.

Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
monk better make it n green tooo
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
IMO Green should be a lock.
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
IMO Green should be a lock.
Common sense would dictate the same, but you never know what the HOF committee does behind closed doors. I thought Monk was a first year lock too. For that matter, even Riggo didn't get in his first year. If all of those guys were Giants, they would have been first year inductees.
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Green is a first-time ballot lock. Monk should finally get in.
Has it been 5 years for Cris Carter? I thought he came back a few years ago to play for the Dolphins . . . |

Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
is gary clark on the list? or any other skins?
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
I don't think we want Gary Clark on the list until Art gets in. Clark is the biggest excuse that the sportshaters... err sportswriters give for Monk's absence.
I've never been to the HoF though I have driven through Ohio once. I would consider going up for the ceremonies if Art and Darrell got in, though. Anybody ever been to one before? Do you need tickets or something? |

If Herman Moore makes it in before Art Monk, the HOF needs burnt to the ground. (after all of the good stuff is removed, leave the Dallas crap in) |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
the guys at harry hog football have some stuff through cafe press vote art HOF good stuff and on the Hogs.net they list the email and snail mail addresses of all the HOF voters. Write them a letter and present them with the facts.
it's high time he is in. Him and Green this year would be a wonderful thing. |

(after all of the good stuff is removed, leave the Dallas crap in)
I totally agree with you Buster. D.Green should be a first year lock. But do you think that might hurt Monks chances again this year? Have two players from the same team ever made it in the same year? |
Have two players from the same team ever made it in the same year?
Yep, several times. I think the last was 2000 with Joe Montana and Ronnie Lott. A ton of Cowboys went into the hall in '94. |
If Herman Moore makes it in before Art Monk, the HOF needs burnt to the ground.
(after all of the good stuff is removed, leave the Dallas crap in)
Honestly, if either Moore or Carter get in before Monk it will be prime evidence that the HoF voters are hypocrites. Monk has better numbers in every category than Moore, and Carter has gaudier TD's and marginally better receiving yards, but won a whopping 4 playoff games in his career and never even WENT to a Super Bowl. The worst thing they can say about Monk is that he played on a team with a lot of other talented players, so he wasn't the star of the offense. And considering the fact that this is true and he still finished with numbers as impressive as he did, says all you need to know about the man. Plus, regardless of the situation, Carter should NOT have been talking as a journalist about Monk's chances in the HoF when he knew he himself was going to be eligible the next year. If Carter makes it and Art does not, it will prove once and for all that the voters care more about the loudmouths in the loud suits who are on TV, than the guys who busted their asses every week without becoming a self-indulging spectacle. |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
What did Carter say about Monk's chances ?
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Here is the list. I didn't see it posted in this thread.

Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
I thought it was on TV but it was just on the Intarwebs, I stand corrected there:
Ask Cris: Strategic move - NFL - Yahoo! Sports Basically he said that Monk was not the most feared receiver on his team and didn't make a lot of Pro Bowls. Which, surprise, surprise, are both things that were true of Carter and his Vikings. Except they flamed out in the playoffs perennially. I think it's fairly disingenuous for Carter to answer this question just a few weeks before the HoF nominations come out, knowing he'd be a first ballot candidate. That question shouldn't have been picked for his little "mailbag" at all. |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
I gotta believe Green is a lock and Monk may just get to ride his coat-tails in as well.
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
If there's ever a year for sentiment to prevail over common sense and get Art in, this would be the year. Like I said, if it doesn't happen this year in my mind that's just outright intentional.

Hardy Nickerson, you mean The Dragon, El Drag-on...(if someone can find this commercial on the 'net, please throw it up) Herman Moore is not a HOF receiver, so I wouldn't worry about him getting in. |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
I don't know... what's Green's signature interception? /sarcasm
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Darrell Green WILL be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
EVIDENCE: - 7 time Pro-Bowl Selection - 54 Career Interceptions - Played 20 years in the NFL - Faster than jeebus. Clocked at 4.125 in the 40 yard dash. Ran a 10.08 100m dash. (I know that last one has nothing to do with the HOF, but daaaaamn...). He has the numbers, the reputation, and the character to be a first ballot hall of famer |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Only 7 Pro-Bowls ? We may be asking a bit too much of the HOF voters for him to get in.
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
anyone know how many pro-bowls that Chris Hanburger went to? i think it was more then 7. which raises the question, why not him?
|

I agree,Monk better get in before Carter and Moore!:soapbox: |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Hanburger had 9 Pro Bowls
Chris Hanburger statistics - pro-football-reference.com I wonder if Mr. Cooke will ever be nominated. |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
If they both make it I will be there as well. Hail!!
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
Was Chris on the list?
Who makes up this stuff? Christian Hanburger Jr went into the army out of Hampton High and then to North Carolina to college No redskin has gone to the Pro Bowl 9 times and played from 1965 to 1978 for his Redskins Guess what ? He has NEVER been nominated and this should tell you something about so- called Washington Post reporters
anyone know how many pro-bowls that Chris Hanburger went to? i think it was more then 7. which raises the question, why not him?
|
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
I still can't believe there are no hogs in yet. I mean, 3 Super Bowl championships with 3 quarterbacks and 3 different running back tandems. Hogs like Grimm, Bostic and Jacoby were the constant engine to their success.
And it wasn't like they were doing any smoke & mirrors zone blocking . . . they dominated and changed the game. Now every line is 300-plus pounds. |
Re: Hall Of Fame Nomination List For 08'
In no particular order, Redskins HOF snubs(just to recap). Please feel free to add.
Chris Hanburger Art Monk Russ Grimm Joe Jacoby Jeff Bostic Jack Kent Cooke |
