Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Tough question.
I think the easy answer is the Giants, so if we win we'll only be a game behind both of them. However, if the Cowboys and Redskins win, we'll be tied with the Giants and we still play them once, and we'll be two back of Dallas and still have to play them twice. I really don't know who I want to win. Sweeping Dallas will be very tough, but gaining one game on them through the course of the rest of the season may be easier. Maybe they'll just beat each other to a pulp and it won't matter. Any thoughts? |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Giants.
Can't let the Cowboys run away with things. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I would say the Giants. Tighten up the division some.
|
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
"Damn if they do and damn if they don't!"
I don't care who wins this game. I just hope they beat each other up and cart off a few body bags. I have a feeling the G-Women will be ready for the Girls and come up with an upset. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I have no hatred of the Giants. The cowboys are another story however... For them and the eagles my schadenfreude knows no limits... I hope it's a very physical game that leaves both teams reeling the rest of the year, maybe 4 overtimes or something like that? Ha.

Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Anybody against the PUKES! Tighten up the EAST with a WIN against philly.
|
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Giants. I'd like the skins to win the East. I really hate the Giants though.
|
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Giants, always could tolerate them more. Plus, let's think big, there are 2 good scenarios to root for the g-men:
1) We'll be closer to 1st in the div., still possible even though the pokes look too strong. 2) The G-men may do their usual late season fade away. Let it begin AFTER this game. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Giants.
|
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Giants. Any Skins fan that wants the Cowboys to win ANY game has some loyalty issues. :D
The only exception would be if a Dallas win knocked someone out of the playoffs and put us in, but that would be painful to root for them even in that case. Dallas needs to lose this game, or they'll be very close to locking up the division. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
From a playoff perspective, I think it would actually be better for the Cowchips to win.
Dallas is taking this division, there's no other way around it. If the Giants win, it only puts them further ahead in the wild card race, which is Washington's only hope. |

I don't think creating a log jam in the NFC East will work out in Washington's favor, especially considering that they've already dropped a game to the Giants. At best, I see Washington splitting the series with the Cowboys, so I think it'd work out better if the Giants had their typical late season collapse. And honestly, my hate for the Giants is greater than my hate for the Cowboys. Not much greater, but slightly. |

Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
yeah, I gotta say we're rooting for Dallas to take this division. Plus, if it comes down to a tiebreaker, common opponents isnt far dwon in the picking order. Ideally right now we just want the Cowboys to beat all NFC competition (besides us) and hope we can close the gap.

That scenario only help if the Cowboys also fall apart. I doubt very seriously that both the Cowboys and Giants start playing like crap, and Washington miraculously starts clicking on all cylinders. Washington's best hope for the playoffs is finishing with a better record than the Giants. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
G-Men............
Yeah RIGHT........ Cowboys to win in NY! |

As painful as it is, the Cowboys winning really helps us the most. Tightening up the division isn't really that helpful - barring some massive collapse, Dallas is taking the division hands down. Putting the Giants down another NFC East matchup will only help us in the wildcard race. |

They still have the Giants, Lions, Panthers, and Skins on the road; Redskins, Jets, Packers, and Eagles at home. Not a runaway schedule if you ask me. Maybe the only easy game in there is the Jets, but they'll get better with their new QB too. I think the goal is to always win the division, and to say that crown belongs to the Cowboys after 8 games is just plain ridiculuous. I will root for the Giants, and for the Skins to take care of business down the road and the division can still be won. By the way, we still have to beat the Eagles this week. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
anyone that is ready to give Dallas the division after 8 games is probably the same person that is worried who the skins are going to draft next year. we need the giants to win. that will really make the NFC interesting the rest pf the season

What we want to happen, and what is likely to happen are two different thing. I'm sure everyone here would be extremely happy if Washington went 7-1 in the last eight games and the Cowboys and Giants went 4-4, but that's not going to happen. Washington has a tougher second half of the season than Dallas, and the Giants are playing ridiculous defense. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I would agree with most here. We want the Cowboys to win the division outright. In fact, with the exception of beating us, I wouldn't mind them running the table.
Guys, the Skins aint going to win this divsion. So it's going to boil down to us, the Giants, and either the Vikes or the Packers for the final wildcard spot. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I know it's hard to say, but we must hope for a Dallas win next sunday. Why?? it's simple, at this point of the season, we already know that they are going to lead the NFC East till the end of the year. Look, the Giants are 6-2, if they loose against the cowboys, they will turn 6-3 and if we win against the eagles we will turn 6-3 as well. It means that we wil still be in the race for the second place.
|
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I just hope Romo and Manning can stay healthy.
|
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Man, I can't root for Dallas under any circumstances unless a win will clearly secure a playoff spot for us. Since that isn't the case here, I hope they lose. Oh, and that everyone on both teams is hit with an injury significant enough such that when we face them again, they're at least on par with the heavy losses we've sustained on that front (if not worse).
|
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I say let NY win and keep the Division tight. We are a second half of the season team anyway. Let Dallas and NY continue to play poor second half of the season football. We are right in the hunt for the division.

Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I find it impossible to root for anyone in these intradivisional games. Mostly I just hope that the teams beat each other up pretty good. Giants, Cowboys, you could make arguments either way, but I'd probably say the Giants at this point. The teams I'll really be rooting against are Detroit and Tampa Bay. If worse comes to worse hopefully the East can send three teams like last year.
Let Dallas and NY continue to play poor second half of the season football.
When did either of them begin to play poorly? The Cowboys have only been beaten by the Pats, and the Giants have reeled off six straight? As I said before, having both the Giants and Cowboys finish the season poorly would be the dream situation, but it's also completely unrealistic. Especially considering Washington is the least consistent of the three teams. While I do think Washington has a good shot to make the playoffs, their chances of actually winning the division are very small. |

It is a tendancy. I realize that they haven't done it yet. Give them a couple of weeks. |

What bearing that has on this season is highly questionable (i.e. it has no bearing whatsoever). The Skins have been the least consistent of the three teams and I agree that dreams of a division crown are a bit pie-in-the-sky at this point. I haven't seen the Giants play since they beat the Skins, but they seem to be hitting on all cylinders at this point (well except for Eli). Speaking of Eli, not sure if anyone else has come across this site, but it is pretty hilarious IMO. Through eight games the Dallas and NY are probably the best two teams in the NFC (I'm still not 100% sold on GB, we should have beaten them at their place despite have a very poor offensive showing). Hopefully something changes in the second half and either (or both) run into a tough stretch of games. The Official Eli Manning Sucks Blog |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
Dating back to the 03 Football season the Cowboys and Giants have finished the last 5 games of the season with a losing record. The only excecption being the 05 Season when the Giants went 5-0
2006 Dallas 2-3 NY 2-3 2005 Dallas 2-3 NY 5-0 (The only excecption) 2004 Dallas 2-3 NY 1-4 2003 Dallas 2-3 NY 0-5 While many may not think that is significant to this season, keep in mind that those teams also historically started off well. (For the most part) It may be a stretch and of no significance whatsoever, but it is my stretch and I'm sticking to it. Feel free to bash me if it doesn't happen. Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
I never root for Dallas but I think in this case it would be better for the skins if they won. Since the skins play Dallas next week it will be much better to play them coming off a win and a little full of themselves. The most important thing the skins need to do is win games...win 10 or 11 games and everything will take care of itself. So if winning is the goal then playing Dallas after a week of patting themself on the back is better then playing them after a tough loss.

Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
So what did each team do the last five seasons from weeks 9 through 13?
Seriously though, that has no bearing on this season...that was then, this is now. Neither are the same team they were last year or any year before that. |
Re: Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?
It is so early we jsut ahve to win. The rest will take care of itself.

In your world, history has no bearing on the present. I said it was a stretch. I am merely looking outside the obvious for something to give me hope. Sorry for bringing it up, but isn't it the experts that say the teams with the best chance are the ones who play well in December? You are correct, those teams are not the same as the ones on the field right now. Alot has changed and they are the two best teams in the NFC. We shouldn't even finish the season or take the field agaist those guys because they have already won the division and made the playoffs. No reason to be optimistic about anything right now, because it is too much of a stretch. Come on, I am making a prediction, a very bold prediction based on previous observations. That is all. Seriously though, conventional wisdom says that -right now NY and Dallas are very solid football teams, and their previous records mean nothing. I understand, but I however, am not conventional. |
