Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
With only 58 more rushing yards today, Dunn will surpass the mythical 10,000 rushing yards plateau. If there has ever been a more unimpressive player to reach this goal, I'd like to hear it.
Dunn has only 1 time been in the top 10 in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage (2005, 8th and 7th respectively). That being said, he's 22nd all time in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage. Thoughts? |
Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
I don't think so. I'm not going to go stat hunting but from what I know the guy hasn't been to very many pro bowls. And he really hasn't made much of a splash with those 10,000, and as we have seen you have to make somewhat of a splash to get voted in. I expect to see him on the ballot but not in the Hall.

Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
3 time pro bowler, 97, 00, and 05.

WOn't argue that. In fact, Portis has only been to 1 pro bowl. |

I'm not talking about every player that has reached the mark (ie: Tiki Barber / Ricky Waters / Fred Taylor / Cory Dillon / Eddie George) I'm talking about Dunn. For the record, I agree Taylor is more impressive, but why should Dunn be, or not be a hall of famer? |
Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
I don't think the 10,000 yard mark is as significant as it once was. Of the top 20 all time rushers only 6 of them are below 11,000.

So what is a good mark of success? |

I think at least 12,500 now |

If someone gets 12500, they are no doubters. There are only 7 players all time to reach that mark. Players like John Riggins and Jim Brown would be left off too. I now think that 10k is too low cause it does mean someone like Dunn could make it, and he doesn't deserve it. I would use 11k as the mark. There are only 16 of them at this point, and the ONLY person you could argue is not a hall of famer is Cory Dillon. But more than likely he will make it. |
Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
Uh, no.

Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???

LOL...9???? Very insightful. |
Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
I think he might have meant 9 total in a season.
As I said before Warrick Dunn really hasn't been a guy that makes the highlight reel all to often. He doesen't make a big splash like a lot of other players. And I was switching between the San Diego game and the Atlanta game and LT is either really close or has the 10,000 yard mark already. Look how fast LT made that mark and look how much time it took Warrick Dunn to get it. Dunn only has 5 1,000 yard seasons out of 10 years in the NFL. |

pretty obvious that during one season, as in 9 tds in 1 season was his high, buddy |
Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
He is a consistent player and a game breaker at one time with TB.
Not a HOF'er yet, but if he can play a few more years, why not. Also, If you are one of the people that believe guys like michael irvin shouldnt be in the HOF because of his off the field problems, then Dunn is a first ballot hall of famer for what he has done. He is an better person than he is a football player. Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
Retire today, and no he's not a HOFer. However, if he can put in 4-5 more years, he could quite well be a HOFer.
However, he pretty much got screwed Touchdown wise in both places he's been. In Tampa, they gave the ball to Mike Alstott in goal line situations. And while he's scored more for the Falcons, he's had to content with Michael Vick, TJ Duckett and Jerious Norwood for TDs. He's approaching 14,000 total yards in 10+ seasons. He's a workhorse when the teams he plays on let him carry the ball. It'll all depend on how he's used from here on out. |
Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
SO if he gets 12000 yards for his career, is a hall of famer?

Actually he had 9 tds in a season 3 times, 2000, 2002, and 2004. |

i meant as in a single season...u love being difficult dont you :cheeky-sm he has never had more than 9 touchdowns in a single season |
Re: Warrick Dunn possible hall of famer???
Dunn is a baller and he has been doing it with other people sharing the workload (Alstott in Tampa and Vick and company in Atlanta). He averages 4.1 per a rush and has 46 TDs...not exactly impressive numbers.
People have often compared him to Berry Sanders but he is no Berry Sanders. To Dunns credit he does have more receptions, receiving yards and receptions for TDs than Sanders. Plus he has reached 10K with 15 carries per game where as Sanders consistently got 20 carries per game. In conclusion he is not HOF material IMO because that award is reserved for the top 10 percentile of players and he most certainly isn't in that bracket. Top 20 percentile? Perhaps. |

Hall of Fame person, yes.. Hall of Fame player, no..

Sometimes yes. :D
he has never had more than 9 touchdowns in a single season
That is true, but 9 tds in a season 3 times is nothing to sneeze at. |

I won't bother bringing out stats cause it's like comparing Brett Favre to Jason Campbell. |
