Is Anyone Else Getting That '05 Season Vibe?
 

The Lions lost (6-7 creamed them early this year), Cards lost (6-7 beat them too), Vikes won (7-6 but we play in week 16). Dallas might rest there players the last week I would if I was Wade Phillips no need for unnecessary injuries. We control our destiny just like '05 if we win out were in. I feel like we are going to do I'm catching that same '05 vibe!!!

I'm not really getting that same kind of vibe. I am getting a sort of nervous/anxious feeling about seeing if Todd Collins really can execute Saunders offense the way I think everyone envisioned it. I think more than anything Campbell has a great opportunity to watch Collins implement the playbook with Redskins players. Winning, of course, is cake but Campbell's continued progression is tanatmount.

No. Not at all. We've won 1 of our last 5 games and our starting QB is on the shelf. I'm not even getting a faint smell of 2005.

I'm hopeful for sure, but to say I'm feeling the vibe? Not so much.

I don't think Collins will look anywhere near as good against a defense not from Chicago.

I have to admit that I don't see us winning in New Jersey; however, if we do I will start to believe the playoffs are a realistic hope. I too think the most important thing here is for Campbell to watch Collins run the Saunders offensive at or near its fullness. Things obviously openned up significantly w/ TC in the game and that is probably the most cogent reason to believe we can win the next three games. Teams will not really know what to expect since the only pertinent game tape is from Chicago and Lord knows Saunders/TC have the potential to open things up well beyond that. I'm hoping the offense practices very hard and comes out flying against NY, MN, and Dallas.

Well, if we beat the Giants this coming week, then I might start getting that '05 feeling. However, right now? Well, I just get the feeling that this is a season just to get through in order for us to do better things next year. I hate talking about next year, since that is what we always seem to start talking about year after year, but I get the feeling this team is onto something much better. But, probably not this season.

I think we can win this game and set up a playoff-style showdown in week 16.

It's going to take a lot of luck to make the playoffs though.

Of course we could've and should've beaten both of those teams. Just makes this year a very strange, unexplainable year for us!

Drinking too much Kool Aid my friend. It is possible, but unlikely. I think we can handle the Gmen, and I think Dallas will rest their guys probably, but the Vikes are chasing the playoffs just like us and are not as decimated like we are. We had a healthy team in '05 with a killer D, our D is a sieve as of late. Anything is possible, but I don't get the '05 feel here. Also, we have a crappy record against the Gmen in Gibbs II, even if we have the better personnel. My bet is NY will solidify their wildcard spot against us next Sunday night. Although usually not in a pretty fashion, they get the job done, meaning pulling out the W in the end. Something we need to learn how to do.

No, just means we can't put a team away. You can explain this season away with A. Ungodly injuries/tragedies and B. poor execution at critical junctures in a game.

Um, no, not feeling the '05 vibe at all. Considering all of the miserable things that have happened to the 'Skins this year, all I can hope for is just another win, maybe two if we're really, really lucky. In what seems like my wish after every season for say, oh, the last 15 years, I wish that black cloud blows the hell outta here and good things start coming our way for once. Dear God, have we not hit rock bottom finally?

Come on ladies and gentleman let's stand behind this team. We have a realistic shot to make a run at the playoffs this year. 3 games...that's it...win three damn games. We act like it's impossible to win three straight games. We control our destiny. Win and in. It's that simple. I'm a believer. Go ahead call it drinking the Kool-Aid or whatever. Well guess what...I'll chug the damn Kool-Aid if it will get this team in the playoffs. On any given day we can compete with any team in the NFL. We've proven all year we can compete. Let's stop acting like we don't belong in the NFL Playoff hunt. Let's go out and prove we do. We have to play to win and not to play not to lose. Playing not to lose is the mentality of this year's team. That's why we have blown so many 2nd half leads this year. That's gotta change and it starts this week.

I agree with you! The 05' season was done with the run game! now that JC i not here than the run game will be a big part of weather we win or lose...destiny is in our hands...

i think the toughest game is this week v.s. the giants. one good thing for us is that the last 3 games will be close and we will have a chance to win. but we will actually win who really knows. atleast we have a interest to watch this weeks game because if we win we are still alive.

If the Giants had lost that game this week against the Eagles I would not like our chances this week, but they got the win and the backs against the wall feeling for the Giants is diminished. The Skins need this so much more than the Giants and I think we pull one off this week against them - remember we had this team against the ropes the last time we played them and I like our chances this time for payback. The only teams I think the Skins don't have any chance against are in the AFC (Patriots, Colts, Steelers). Other than those teams I like our chances against anyone else. Yeah we have had a heck of a lot of injuries and this could be our downfall this year, but I do beleive the players continue to fight till the end - heck we are pretty battled tested and have gone through everything that can possibly be thrown at us not too mention we have a couple days rest over the Giants.

If we win these last 3 and make the playoffs, honestly I think with all that the team has been through this year this season would stand above the accomplishments of 2005.

Especially considering that will be doing it with Todd freaking Collins at QB. Who would have guessed that back in August?

I don't feel that vibe in terms of the way the Redskins have played, but in looking at the NFC standings, it would not take a miracle for us to get into the playoffs. We're actually in better shape than we were at this point in 2005 when the possibility of a playoff berth was extremely remote.

Honestly, I was watching for the score of the Lions, Cards and Vikes games, and seeing 2 of them lose made me think we still have a chance.

See JLC's latest update -root for the Falcons tonight! We are close to the driver's seat for that 2nd wild card. Chances are good that if we win out we're in. Much like in 05 our conference record & tie breakers are a strength.

I don't know if I'm "feelin it" YET, but after only a 1 game win streak it's hard to feel it. If we beat the g-men, which I believe we can, we're all gonna start to talk next week about... Playoffs!
Remember in 05, that 5 game wining streak was preceded by losses in 4 of 5 games, much like our 4 game losing streak this year.

The Saints remaining 4 games are in the NFC. If they win out they will be 9-7 like the Skins, if the Skins win out, so both the Saints and the Skins would be 9-7. They will not and have not played each other so the head to head tiebreaker will not apply. The Saints would be 8-4 in the NFC and the Skins would be 7-5, so the Saints would get that last Wildcard spot. Nothing the Skins can do but win out and hope the Saints lose at least one game, then both teams would be 7-5 in the NFC and the next tiebreaker is common games, which is too complicated to figure at this point. The Skins have a very tough 3 game streach. I don't realistically see us beating the Vikings at home right now, but I think we could be the Giants and maybe the backup Cowboys in week 17.

What about when the skins lose sunday night, what scenarios need to play out for the skins to get in?
