Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Who's your MVP tonight?
Collins Portis Smoot The run 'D' against Peterson |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
None of the above.
* The dude that whispered in Gibbs' ear to throw the challenge flag. :) |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Coaches. Great game plan.

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Well there wasnt an option for "The dude upstairs" So I picked the run D. Though it was a hard choice between the D and Collins.
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I vote Collins cause the guy managed the game pretty damn well and ran the O like a pro (less those fumbles of course). Portis ran hard but Collins was making all the key throws!
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
The spirit of Sean Taylor. God bless the Redskins! Hail!

* The dude that whispered in Gibbs' ear to throw the challenge flag. :)
yeah no shit, everybody came up huge tonight, that would have been HUGE for smooty if he would have scored on that int you could also include the off line in this, they protected Collins well and only the 3rd team to rush for over 100 yrs against vikings, and opening those holes for portis after the 12 man deal was huge |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Coaching staff gets my game ball.
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I gotta go with Gregg Williams. By the time the Vikes had figured out Andre Carter was playing on the other side, we were already up 25 points.
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I wanted to pick Collins and the Run D....I picked the Run D....They held Peterson to 9 carries for 27 yards. You can't do it better than that!!
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
This is the hardest one yet. Portis had a great game, toss for a TD and nice moves. Collins had a really big game, but yet again my vote went to Smoot. I really feel that first pick really set the tone for the game. Smoot played some pretty good D. The run D played the vikes running game good too. Honestly, this game ball goes to the coaches. You don't hear that a lot from me -- but Gibbs, Saunders, and Williams deserve this one. Great gameplan.

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Shawn Springs kicked serious butt tonight....serious butt
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
The Defense Shut Down ALL DAY ALL NITE LONG!!!
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
TC gets my game ball. awesome game from him
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Stopping the run and forcing Tavaris to make plays was key. The D line gets my vote.
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I really loved how Portis is coming alive. The D was important but i gave Clinton my vote.

no crap. i noticed on like our second offensive play yet they still didn't run at him. |

I don't know, the Skins were covering that area particularly well...I saw quite a number of times where one of our LB or safety squatted close to the line between the DE and the DT. Great calls by GW all night long. |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
GIBBS,GIBBS,GIBBS,GIBBS,GIBBS,GIBBS,GIBBS,GIBBS!!!
Just for his inner fire and savvy experience, no one else could have done what he's doing. When our backs are against the wall and all experts pick the other teams, Joe proves everyone wrong. |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I gotta go defense, with Portis a very close second...The two things I thought we would really struggle with tonight were stopping the run, and rushing the football...We did a great job of each. I cant really find a "bad" spot. I was getting nervous until that challenge fiasco, but a very good game start to finish.

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Coaches. Great game plan.
Credit the coaches for their best coached game since the Dallas game at FedEx in 2005, and the players for executing the plan to perfection. Gregg Williams dialed up a lot of looks that I've never seen him do here (5-3 fronts, 4-4 fronts). He really took Peterson out of the game and put it in the young QB's hands.
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Tough one, but I voted Portis for his overall great play. Plus, he's the emotional leader of the team.
Collins and the defense were outstanding, too. |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Entire defense. All day long, the Vikings were only able to manage three decent drives. It just so happens that they put up seven each time, but that's a function of luck. When a defense forces as many turnovers as it gives up quality drives, that's game ball material.
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
i didnt vote because i want to say the coaches, but the game of football is all about execution. i dont think our coaching staff all of a sudden got "smarter"
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I went with the Defense. They set the tone early and pretty much controlled the game.
Key guys who stepped up: Smoot, Godfrey, Fletcher, and the entire d-line. |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
after the skins d,whoever told gibbs to challenge the fumble because there were 12 men on the field should get the next game ball.hell,i think the whole damn team deserves one.

Yup. I love what Portis did against the best run defense in the league, how our D played lights out against the best running offense in the league, and the coaches' game plan, but 22/28 for about 250 yards and 2 TDs and 0 INTs is about as flawless as they come. |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
The D during the First half
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I voted Run D but i would like to add that it's not just for the players. Agreed, our defense played LIGHTS OUT for about 50 minutes of 60 that game but it just seemed to me like the scheme we were running was fantastic. The coaching this week up until the game HAD to be awesome. They stacked the hell outta the box with 8 people every down and dare them to throw the ball. Then you factor in the CB play of Springs and Smoot, and there you have it. Excellent planning and preparing and excellent execution.
Game ball to the D and D coaches. Awesome game. Hail. |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
the d gets mine... and shawn springs has been playing out of his mind lately... He's been pretty much unheralded, with alot of attention going to smoot, but springs is handling his business making amazing plays on almost every series...
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
i was lucky enough to be at that game, and it would be hard to give only one game ball. the run d was awesome, smoot had a monster game. (they booed him all night long.) springs is playing like a madman. portis is coming alive. collins is spreading the ball around. the coaching staff is calling good plays. with collins running the offence anything is possible. we look like a team again...
|
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Bill Khayat QC coach and Todd Davis Assistant Video Director get Game Balls for noticing and relaying the message to JG the 12th man on the field challenge.

i have been to a whole bunch of visiting stadiums. how were the fans? and whats the metrodome like? |
Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I would give it to "the run D against Peterson", but they had a lot of help with 8 and 9 in the box to stop it. The coaches came up with a plan that said "go ahead Jackson, try to beat us". No team, no player can run the ball with 8 and 9 in the box. The coaches would get my pick, it was a superbly coached game, something we haven't been able to say in a while.
