Your MVP this year?
I know this is probably way to early to have this discussion, but who is the teams MVP? I think I would have to say Todd Collins for coming in and turning the momentum around and being ready to play and win games. Portis is a close second for staying healthy and consistantly being a team player and being able to play all year. London Fletcher is probably next because he hasn't missed any games, he is a great pick up. And maybe Gibbs, for keeping this whole thing together after the loss of Taylor. What does everyone think? Should there be a poll? Or is ist still to early?

Yeah that's what he said, team MVP. |
Re: Your MVP this year?
It has to be, has to be Clinton Portis.

Since that is the case, I would say Cooley when the receiving core was hurt dropping balls he has been a reliable target for both QB's this season. |
Re: Your MVP this year?
Every player that has come in and helped this team win. With all the injuries and other stuff that has gone on this year we have had a bunch of guys come in and contribute to our success. We truly used all 52 players each week and even all the guys on the pratice team and the ones signed durn the year.

I agree, but ever player but Jon Eubanks & Leigh Torrence they kill us sometimes!!! |
Re: Your MVP this year?
I think I'm going to have to go with London Fletcher because I think he was exactly what our defense needed. I think he's probably been team's best FA pick-ups since Marcus Washington
|
Re: Your MVP this year?
Cooley or Fletcher
|
Re: Your MVP this year?
Lets wait until after the Cowboys game.
This game has the weight of the whole season on it..ignoring the most important game of the season to name a player of the year is premature in my opinion |
Re: Your MVP this year?
I think the answer might be #21. Sean was the heart of our defense for half a season, got hurt, and we played poorly. Then after he lost his life, the team has galvanized itself. I think it's safe to say that no other single player has had the impact of Taylor this year.

That would be a very interesting choice too. Only thing, you don't want to somehow diminish or trivialize, if that's even possible, Taylor's death. But I do think it would be a very appropriate choice and nice gesture. |
Re: Your MVP this year?
Offense: Clinton Portis
Defense: London Fletcher Special teams: Either Rock Cartwright or Shawn Suisham |

Wow. Smells like a lot of racist redskins fans. Tod collins has had increidble passing stats and came into the year with the team not even setup for him.

No other way to explain some of the choices of people here but racism. Collins has spectacular stats and has invigorated the team in the last several games. He has one of the best passer ratings in the NFL. The only person who would have had a chance to beat him out for team MVP is, uhh, hopefully in a far better place. Just the facts. |

Just the facts.
Ahh...yeah. You know what, this is a totally racist choice. Collins has played, what, three games? I'll be the first to admit, I was totally thinking race first when I chose Portis. |

Dude, False accusations about racism and arrogance aint making you any friends here....I'd leave those comments aside and just say you like Collins...I do too and if he gets us to the playoffs he is a good choice....unless of course he gets too good of tan....then no way! |

Just the facts.
That's your explanation for saying anyone who doesn't choose Todd Collins as the MVP is a racist? You need to have a long look in the mirror. Portis, Cooley, Fletcher are quite a bit ahead of Collins and his three games of play. Not saying I'm not loving Collins, but to use the word racist in this context just doesn't make any sense to me. |
Re: Your MVP this year?
Obviously this guy is just trolling and trying to pick a stupid fight. I don't think he warrants the wind and spit it takes to argue a point.

It's when they list certain players ahead of Collins. It's ridiculous. Average RB (Portis) versus well above average QB that's playing well at the time of the year it matters the most for those fighting for a wild card? Heh. Whatever. |
Re: Your MVP this year?
I'd say the top 4 for consideration should be Clinton Portis (1520 total yds, 9 TDs), Chris Cooley (61-744-8), London Fletcher (126 total tackles (99 solo), 3 INTs, 9 Passes Deflected), and Andre Carter (40 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 4 Forced Fumbles, Safety).
The way this team has come together and fought their hearts out against all odds, it's quite hard to single out any one person as an MVP. A win next week markes a 4 game improvement over last year, which is incredible considering all the injuries and problems this team has had to face. |

I agree here. No single player really stands out, which is a great thing. Everyone has had a major role to play this year and a lot of guys really stepped up, starters and backups. To have to struggle to determine which player is the team MVP on a playoff bound team (fingers crossed) just shows what a great team Coach Gibbs has assembled for us. |

Re: Your MVP this year?
Todd Collins is the MVP of the year. He came in at the most difficult time of the season and converted our losing streak into a winning streak. If it wasn't for him, do you really think we will be standing at this playoff position today?
|
Re: Your MVP this year?
I'm fine with people thinking Todd Collins should receive MVP consideration, but I have a hard time giving it to him after four games.
Most of these guys have gone though gut wrenching losses for 16 weeks. And let's talk about injuries and the mental toll the season takes on one physically. If Collins get's sacked and knocked around for fifteen or sixteen weeks, is he still this proficient? Chances are, no. |
Re: Your MVP this year?
clinton has had his fair share of bad play this year. iwould say fletcher, then cooley.

todd collins might be the mvp for the last quarter of the season.

Racist? Where did you get that from? I think Todd Collins deserves alot of credit for the teams success as of LATE, but if we're talking about the entire season, then I think the offensive MVP is Portis. The reason why I pick Portis is because he's black. Oh yeah and he's the 3rd leading rusher in the NFC. He's also one of, if not, the best blocking back in the NFL. |
Re: Your MVP this year?
Great thread, and extremely tough choice if we're not doing Co-MVPs. If I had to pick one, I'd have to go with Cooley. If I could pick multiple folks, I'd go with:
Offense: Cooley Defense: Carter (could make a case for Sean Taylor despite his missing a third of the season and the rest of eternity) Special teams: Doesn't matter - Rock and Suisham have both been solid, but I wouldn't elevate either to MVP status. Collins doesn't get picked only because he didn't play the first three quarters of the year. In fairness, this team has had several MVPs. Can anyone honestly say Springs and Smoot haven't played like Pro-Bowlers the last few games? Portis too. Samuels? Montgomery? Fletcher? It is a testament to the team that its hard to single out one person as the MVP. |

Over the past 3 or 4 games, they're playing as good as any tandem in the league. |

You're right, the numerous white people who voted for guys like Portis hate white people. :smashfrea Paranoid much? Yes, a guy who has played in 3 of 15 games and played really well in 2 games is unquestionably our team MVP. Todd Collins has undoubtedly played lights out in the limited action he's seen, but to say anyone who puts guys like Portis above Collins is a racist is just dumb. Now onto serious matters.....I'm not sure that anyone deserves an MVP award. This TEAM has been struggling and winning as a whole. No one really stands out on either side of the ball. I sort of like it that way. In short, I can't think of an MVP. |
