Jon Jansen
Just saw that Jansen may have ruptured a tendon and may be out for the season. This could be a disaster for the o-line. I feel real bad for him since he has been in the starting lineup for every game he has been here.
Let's hope it's mis-diagnosed.
The TV crawl said that Tim Brant was reporting this injury. I have great respect for Tim Brant as a journalist but I want to wait and hear this from the team in an official release with a medical report attached.
However, if Jansen is out for the year, the Skins are one - I repeat ONE more major offensive line injury away from a 5-11 season again. Injuries are killers in the NFL. Injuries that pile up in the same position cannot be overcome because there are NO capable replacements out there for the taking. |
Sounds like it's on it's way to being official, Jansen's wife confirmed it's his achilles
They may have to move Dockery to RT. Is the rookie Wilson really Jansen's back-up? He doesn't look like he's ready to start.
Free agents?????
"The Redskins trailed the Denver Broncos 9-3 in the first half of Monday's Hall of Fame Game. But the Redskins suffered a greater blow when right tackle Jon Jansen suffered a ruptured left Achilles. Officials stressed it is premature to call it a season-ending injury.
" from redskins.com. good news. better news atleast. |

I thought K. Jones was backup tackle and looked good in camp? |
JOnes started at Gaurd tonight
he can play both though. hes the best backup olinemen, and we had a guard out so he played there. he would play at tackle over guard if thomas and jansen were both out.
Yeah, I was just pointing out that he was in there tonight. Its gotta be between him and Winey I would think?

Jansen Is Out With Torn Achilles'

Oddly he doesn't look to be in much pain. Hopefully this is a false report! Of all the people to watch go down I feel horrible for him!
Dude, THIS SUCKS!!!! I can't believe Jansen went down. I gotta pray to the football gods tonight that he somehow heals up. This would be a major blow to the team, especially if Brunnel was QB (who on earth would block his blind-side). Man, I am going to have some rotten dreams tonight...
My bet is he's gone for the season. My dad ruptured his achilles, and it did not really hurt, but he could not stand up. Looked like that's what happened here. This is a huge blow. One of the best o linesman, and a leader and captain. Our only hope is that there's enough time to pick up a replacement and to rebuild the line in preseason. Buges really has his work cut out for him now.
He is done for the season!!! I really wish it was not so!!! You are so right about Buges has his work cut out for him now! What about Brandom Winey 6-7/320 2 year pro out of LSU? He played 11 games last year and started 2. Do you think Mark Wilson or Jim Molinaro can step in now?
Yes, he's out. Doesn't mean it's the end of our Redskins world this season. They might move Dockery back to T or can Wilson fill the void? Wilson's big enough but haven't heard much about him during camp so far. WE WILL NOW. I've been too excited about this upcoming season to let this injury ruin my outlook. But let's hope Thomas' knee problem isn't a BIG problem. Two guys out of the picture wouldn't be pretty.
Any achilles injury is a bad one. This is a bad break.
Why do these things always have to be season ending? Why must it happen to our best friggin offensive lineman? Why couldn't it have been just something minor, maybe out only 4-6 weeks or something?
SON OF A B#@$*!!!!!!!! ok, still trying to cool down. Does Jevon Kearse play on the left or right side? What about Michael Strah....oh yeah... he lines up against the right tackle. Wonderful... Oh well. We must move on. Jim Molinaro, Marc Wilson, Brandon Winey, Kenyatta Jones simply have to step up. If there's one coaching staff out there who can squeeze talent out of the less talented, it's Gibbs, Bugel & Co. |
The only positive is that it happened very early in the preseason. I'm not sure what free agents are out there but I'm betting it's probably slim pickings.
I guess we'll see if Wilson is ready, or maybe Jones can slide over to RT. Whatever happens we're going to miss Jansen dearly. |
remember to chant 'JANSEN' at the games. true fans won't forget a true redskin, and we need to show he's not out of sight out of mind this season.
I agree, this season is for you, Jansen.
#1 Dirtbag |
if he tore his achilles then the trainers knew about it as soon as they looked at him because usually when you tear your achilles your calf rolls up into your knee

Welcome aboard!...what a disturbingly vivid first post |
sorry
no need to apologize, hope to hear from you as the season progresses
The Jansen loss has very little up side. The good thing about it is the team has 4 more games and five weeks to try get over it. In the NFL these things happen and a lot of the time a guy comes out of nowhere to fill in real well. Lets hope that is the case! Lets hope that the back ups and the draft picks last year are as good as they are thought to be. I would not be all that surprised if someone dose real well and makes it hard for someone to keep his job next year! If so Samuels with his high cap could be on his way out! Who do you think will do the best in Jansens spot?
this sucks
This would be alot easier if Jon Jansen was a assclown. He really is the #1 Redskin on this team right now. I cant say how much I look up to him for being what he is. You never really think of how much he means to the team until hes gone.
Nooooooo!!!!!! :cussing:
I would be infinitly more upset if we didnt have bugel as our coach now...if anyone can make a noone into a someone on the oline its bugel.
he really is a good guy, and a great lineman to boot, so its really a sad loss... he's the most senior (in terms of successive seasons with the redskins) on the team and a leader. I hope he can make it back, or at least hope that this can be healed and put behind him (all too often serious injuries continue to haunt players for the remainder or their shortened careers).
However, Jansen is tough, i'm hoping for the best, and having bugel is about the best thing you can ask for when you need to train another O-lineman. |
