1 yard rushing

Even in a meaningless game for Dallas that was a pretty nice accomplishment by the D.

In fact for the past few games they've done a great job at stuffing the run.

Nice job D!

Whats the record for all time low rushing yards in a game?

firstdown 12-31-2007 01:05 PM

Re: 1 yard rushing

Well Sandtrap will say that because they did not even try. Didn't you see their O line just stand up and let our D line just run by them and then their runner just sliding to the ground.

Re: 1 yard rushing

Why didn't they just forfeit the game and save themselves a plane ride since it was so meaningless.

Primetime Sanders said this morning that Jason Garrett wasn't about to show all his cards in a game like this. Bullshit!

There's a big difference in not showing all your cards and not trying to win. I think after their 5 to 6 three and out they knew they had no chance.

1 yard is pretty damn good accomplishment considering they had both Barber and Jones playing the entire first half. It's one for the history books that aught to adds to the rivalry.

Plus Barber was trying to get to 1,000 yards.

in turn it was worthless for both the skins and the boyz afterall since the broncos took care of buisness ..
this is the toughest rivalry in sports and they tell us this game meant nothing, yeah right sure...it goes in the win column and i,ll take it too.
1 yard is just that 1 yard...the longest yard....

any way your slice it, holding a team to 1 yard is impressive. nobody like to get embarrassed, even in a meaningless matchup.

I disagree. It was a must win game regardless of whether the Vikings lost or not.

I agree. It was important to keep the momentum going.

It definitely wasn't worthless.

The Cowboys were trying, they were just getting embarassed. You couldn't see the frustrations on the starter(s) faces? They were just getting an ass whooping.

Anthony Montgomery played his best game as a Redskin. He was dominating the middle, allowing Fletcher and Godfrey to roam free.

We go into the playoffs being billed a the "Hottest Team" in pro ball! The team certainly believes it (which is most important). The ASS kickin' Big D recieved served to further cement that sentiment. The team and fans are beginning to believe in the .......destiny factor, and possibly the ST is pulling some strings from the other side............certainly not worthless

B.S. they didn't try look Romo & Witten were trying so was Marion Barber for his individual record also. Well our defense is ready and playing with passion first was AP now Dallas you have to be excited about the playoff.

I have not seen that "swarming" style of shutdown D in a long time. Maybe having Dex in the booth had a positive motivating effect? Dude is a maniac

Fewest Yards Gained Rushing, Game

-53 Detroit vs. Chi. Cardinals, Oct. 17, 1943
-36 Philadelphia vs. Chi. Bears, Nov. 19, 1939
-33 Brooklyn vs. Phil-Pitt, Oct. 2, 1943

They still do it that way in college. -53 yards is still very impressive but those stats are a little misleading.

Well... I have to agree with that. I would bet that Dallas was attempting to win playing fundamental football, but they probably held back a lot with the scheme knowing that they could have to face us in the playoffs. In that case, we did exactly what we should have done. We totally dominated them. That is not what they wanted to see. Now, whether they admit it or not, know that they will have their hands full if they see us again no matter what they held back.

I bet they put in just enough scheme that they thought they could get the individual accomplishments, which they couldn't, but it was evident by how long they left there starters in that they were very uncomfortable with how bad they were getting their butts kicked.

I think we are being billed as the hottest team in the NFC as the Pats are the hottest team in the NFL right now. Even if Dallas did not try that hard giving us a big win like that has really giving this team a big boost which will come back to haunt them.

In contrast I feel I need to point out that in 16 regular season games in 2007 for the Dallas Defense, NO single running back eclipsed 100 yards rushing for any single game.

Save one

Clinton Portis was the ONLY RB to get over 100 yards rushing against Dallas the entre season and he did it in the season finale.

Yea, CP asked Gibbs to let him back into the game so he could get the 3 yards he needed and he got 7.

Very impressive stat indeed. Hopefully we get another shot in two weeks!!!

Re: 1 yard rushing

Well, I don't believe that Dallas didn't try, but I do believe that their whole heart and soul wasn't into this game like it was for the Redskins. After all, they weren't playing for their playoff lives. A couple meaningless records is all they were playing for, and to go into the playoffs at least as healthy as they were entering the game. So, if the two teams do end up playing each other again in a couple weeks, we will see an entirely different game in Dallas. Probably something similar to the first game they played this season where it went down to the wire.

That being said, it was pretty stupid for Dallas not to try to knock the Skins out, because there isn't another team in the playoffs that will give them a better game than the Skins will.
