Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
He was just on Mike & Mike in the morning (ESPN) and reported no one came to his defense during this season. He also said Cincy should get rid of the so called cancer in the locker room. He stated that he doesn't get in trouble off the field, he puts up his numbers on the field, just wants to have fun that's it & it personally hurt him when members of the Bengals organization (F.O.) accused his celebrations & interviews to be the reason they are losing. He didn't flat out say I don't want to be in Cincy, he was asked if he wanted to come back he said we'll see what happens & repeated get rid of the cancer or problem maker and make the playoffs. You can read between the lines. Personally they just pissed off there best player.

Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I think Chad is too much into himself. He wants out because he saw Randy and T.O. end up with contenders and he thinks he deserves it too. I wonder if he would go to a team like the Raiders since he wants out so bad?
|
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I'd take him in a heartbeat. I know that he'll cost and I'm not saying that I'd take him no matter the cost or anything like that. I'm just saying that I like him as a player and wouldn't mind him being with the Skins.

Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I don't want him, but i don't want the eagles, giants or cowboys to have him either...
|
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
If he walks, I could see him coming to the East - yes, Dallas included.

Yea but the ball is in his court now he knows they won't keep him if he is unhappy. I don't see anything wrong with Chad and the way he acts. 6 years in the league each year over 1000 each year lead the NFL 3 of the 6 years in yardage. If he puts up numbers I don't care what he does on the field. Bengals should be happy he is scoring TD's hell there are plenty of "big time receiver" doing nothing getting big money "Brandon Lloyd" |
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
A 30 year-old manlcontent who routinely draws 15 yard penalties, despite knowing in advance that such celebrations will draw such penalties? No thanks. I'd rather try to get Art Monk to come out of retirement.
|
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
Chad would instantly give us a reliable reciever with good hands, speed and size. That would open up the rest of the offense.
I would love to see him in burgundy and gold. |

I'll second that! NO THANKS. No cancer in the locker room in DC. Give a kid like Mix a shot. I personally think we are in pretty good shape at WR. Even if we did need help (which I don't think we do), I would pass on his services! |

Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
Before you get excited about him coming here; take a look back at TO's career.
In his early days TO might've been a loud mouth in the SF locker room but was pretty unknown to the public. As he got more productive & became known as a big time reciever, his behavior publicly changed. We've seen this with CJ as well, and what seems to reinforce this behavior is when a team grants their wish & trades them or lets them walk. Not that the team is making a mistake, if the guys a problem get rid of him, but at the same time it reinforces the selfish player's attitude that they should get what they want. What we've seen the last 2 years w/CJ is that his behavior has regressed to being more egotistical & self-absorbed. He's gotten into more public arguments w/Palmer & teamates & now he's going public. It seems a downward spiral to me, the dude may not be anotehr TO, but he may sell out any team that's willing to take a chance on him, like TO did in Philly. TO's behavior only changed after he'd burned most of his bridges. CJ has a lot of bridges left to burn, I say better he do so somewhere else. |

I would welcome that. Two egos in the same locker room? They'd end up pissing someone off for failing to get the ball to them enough. |

I can't imagine anyone wanting to go to the Raiders. I wish Moss was still there tho. Then maybe I wouldn't be seeing something about the Pats every time I turn on a sports channel. |

Unless TO retires, Chad will never be a Cowboy. No room for two egos that size in the same receiving corps. Can you imagine what would happen the first time a reporter asked either of them who the team's #1 WR is? That said, I could definitely see him on the Eagles. Ick. |

If he's a problem this playoffs & offseason like he was in philly, they might decide to cut him. He's probably got 1 really good year left before he slows down & has to become more of a possession reciever. |

You know I was thinking the same thing. If there was a chance he could go to Dallas or the Eagles with Westbrook we would have a tough time with both of those teams. |

Ummm, he had 81 catches for nearly 1400 yards and 15 TDs in 15 games this year. He's showed no signs of slowing down, he's a physical freak, he knows the team and the offense and hasn't been a problem on or off the field this year. I think Dallas needs to get younger at WR. Signing another 30+ year old WR with a big contract and a bigger ego would be dumb. Crayton is solid #2, Witten is all-world, and they have two good backs. Why throw another massive ego into the mix? They should look to draft a good WR prosepct to develop until TO hangs it up. |

We already have a tough time with both of those teams. Every team in the east really. We're 4-8 against the division the past 2 years. We don't need any of them getting any better. |
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I realy believe that this could work in our favor. He is entertaining yet put up top numbers. He would be our number 1 receiver, with moss no. 2 and randle el in the slot with cooley down the middle and portis on the draws. It sounds amazing to me with Saunders calling the plays with no handcuffs. Things like this never works out for us. We make trades that don't make sense (except for LG Kendall) but we won't this time because it makes sense. Synder please do what you do and bring Johnson here.

Well I certainly hope over the last four years if anything Dan has learned something about character. You don't want a time bomb in your locker room, this boy is a ALL ME nut case, leaving the EGO at the door will never happen! If we have the right coach in position, I don't think they would touch him with a ten foot pole! And WIN WIN explain? Last I checked we have no problem filling the stadium right now. |
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I agree we need an upgrade in size at the WR position. But I do not not not think CJ is the answer. Too expensive, too egotistical. I just don't think he'd fit in our locker room.
This team is bonded after what happened to us the last 5 weeks of the season. I hope Danny realizes that the personnel and coaching staff don't need to be blown up. A little tinkering and a few adjustments? Sure. But there's no need for extreme changes. Kinda like when Tomlin came into to Pittsburgh replacing a legend. He kept the personnel, kept the D-coordinator, and kept the smash-mouth style. Willie Parker had more carries than any back in the league. And they went to playoffs again. He understood. If ain't broke, don't fix it. |

That doesn't mean after 1 year he'll be worthless, just that he'll naturally slow down. He's shown no signs of slowing down yet, but he will, maybe even this weekend. You can't be a fast healer all your life, we'll see how this sprain affects him. It may not at all, but age eventually will. He may play out his career like Rice for 4-5 more years, but the years of him being a deep threat + dangerous over the middle & tough to tackle are numbered. |
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
Chad Johnson is one of the few players in this league that seems to embrace what he does. He plays football, he plays it well, and he has fun. He brings fun to the fans and his teammates, and his celebrations rarely hurt the team. This guy is a class act, he does tons of charity work in Cincinatti, much more than I've heard of any current Redskins doing.
I would listen to Chad Johnson almost every week on Sirius NFL radio, and he couldn't care less about himself. All he wanted to talk about were his teammates and his team. He admitted he needed to step it up and said he didn't care if he wasn't getting a single catch every game as long as he was helping his team. Chad says most nights he's in bed by 10PM, he's not out clubbing. He's not involved in shady activities. I don't think we can afford him, but he would make this team instantly better. We'd actually have a WR they have to roll coverage to which would open up everyone else and especially cooley. |

Slow down like Joey Galloway? It's hard to say when WRs will slow down. And if you're right, the typical backloaded Redskins contract would work perfectly for him. |
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
If we still had Gibbs I'd be all for bringing him on for the right price. I am talking no more than a 3rd. Moss got a 4th so I'd say at best a 3rd. But with Gibbs gone I am unsure. We'd be relying on the unknown in managing him. But he does give us something we desparately need.

I don't think he has 4 or 5 dominant years left either. But he is still putting up all world numbers. He's got 2 or 3 very good seasons left IMO. He is a total athletic/physical freak. Comparisons to Rice aren't really fair. Rice was never very physical or fast. He got by on finesse and second-to-none route running. TO is one of the best overall athletes in NFL history. Remember how fast the Cowboys dumped Keyshawn when TO came into the fold? I know CJ is way better than Meshawn, but the point is you simply cannot have two personalities like that on the same team. I don't think Chad would be the problem of he became a Cowboy. I think TO would throw a fit though. |

I don't think he is all about himself and the comparsion to T.O. is crazy. Does anyone have a sense of humor. Look I don't care if he lands in D.C. or not I just feel he shouldn't be judged for nothing. He is a passionate player so you will see him talking to Carson about things on the sideline. You heard Carson say I he thinks there should be a coach change. He damn sure didn't say he wanted CJ to leave and he could have because he is not a problem or the problem in Cincy. He is a class act and the fact that he is 30 doesn't mean nothing Marvin Harrison is what 35 hell if CJ can last that long (He can) that will be worth the investment. If Synder doesn't get him fine but who ever does will get one hell of a player. |

Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
Chad is a good reciever-but he fades in december and is to much into himself!

Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I think the reasons to not bring CJ here are cost related. As for those questioning his character and work-ethic, I think there's a big difference between TO and CHad. I don't see him coming here but if it was possible it would be for the tremendous benefit of this team.
|
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I wouldn't mind getting Chad Johnson.
He's a classy guy who has very elite skills. He doesn't cause problems in the locker room or outside of the locker room. I'm sure Dan wouldn't mind trading in our #85 for that #85. |
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
No prime donas now guys. Chad is a beast, but do we really need locker room crap to go on between him and Moss and Randle El? Plus the money we will be dishing out would be HUGE!!!!! It would consist of lots of $$$$$$$$$ and some draft picks for sure to get him from Cincy, unless his contract is up. Can't we have a decent draft for a change and use that to build a squad? Caldwell and Randle El came along fine. McCardell did well also for us, but like everyone mentions he is old. Use a pick to get one WR and we are set. Use the rest for linemen and DBs.

Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
I wouldn't mind Chad J if he'd keep his trap shut and leave the antics in Cincy.

I agree. As for his charity work compared to that of the Redskins. The Redskins players each do plenty of charity work (some much more than others of course), but the best charity work is the kind that doesn't have to be advertised. Not saying CJ is promoting his own charity work. Just saying just because you don't hear about someone doing charity doesn't mean it doesn't happen. |
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
What leads you to think CJ will have beef with our other WRs? Chad is used to being around other top flight WRs, and every WR around him seems to get better. He was teammates with Steve Smith (carolina) in junior college, and has done nothing but help TJ and Chris Henry on the field.
I totally understand the money argument. That makes sense. But I don't understand this cancer crap. This guy enjoy what he does! |

Too many egos on one team. It would never work. I am pretty much convinced that two number 1 receivers on one team, rarely work. |

i would take him in a second, if the price was right
|
Re: Chad Johnson Wants Out of Cincy
hey if you don't want him we'll take him lol.. seriously I think pretty much any team would be happy to take him. He brings talent, excitement, and he's not a bad guy like people here are pointing out. People really like watching him play.... I just hope that the Patriots don't get him too LOL I wouldn't want to see him on any team that i hate because he's really a talented guy
