Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
With all the talk about changes and identical threads, lets think about Saturday. How great will it be when Monk, Green, and Grimm all get into the HOF? Announcement is this coming Saturday!

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
I think this is Monk's year...
If Darrell Green doesn't get in....I'm burning something haha! |
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Oh dear football gods how I hope you are correct... I just don't think anyone who votes gives a damn about our Glory Years!
That entire O-Line should be in the Hall - they made people begin to notice fat guys too can be loved! Joking aside, it is a slap in the face the number of SuperBowls we were in and won with little representation in the Hall. |
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Definetly Monk has to get in and Green and Grimm definetly deserve it
|
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
With as fubared as the Skins FO feels right now, we really need Art, Darrell, and Russ to get in. I hope the voters understand what's at stake.
|
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Green is almost a lock.
This should be Monk's year, however I won't be surprised if he doesn't make it. Grimm deserves it, but I don't think this is his year. |

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
I think Green and Monk make it this year, poor Grimm will be left out. Too many Redskins to be inducted at once and they don't like us. I hope I'm wrong and all 3 get in.

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Guys I am very young (19) and I couldn't really watch the Skins growing up, with that said what was Darrel Green like as a player, is he a lock his first time out!??!
|
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
should be...you got to see him some didn't you?

7 pro-bowls, yes. I think he got ripped out of a few more because Deion (mr. self promotion)Sanders. The things that I love about Monk and Green is that besides being great they are humble and classy, unlike most of today's NFl players. |

Darrell Green was awesome! On most days, it was rather quiet on Green's side of the ball. You need to go to you tube and look at video clips from his playing days. Definitely a hall of famer! Good thread! It's about time we see fans representing their love for the Redskins! |
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Green is damn near a shoo-in. I believe that Monk will get in FINALLY. As for Grimm, both he and Jacoby deserve the HOF. The Hogs were the heart and soul of 3 Super Bowl championships in 10 years. With Monk and Green garnering greater attention, Grimm will probably have to wait.

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
I'll tell you what - if Monk does not get in and Cris Carter does there will be no bigger injustice.
I'll tell you what - if Monk does not get in and Cris Carter does there will be no bigger injustice.
Cris Carter's best years in Minnesota were as a #2 receiver to Randy Moss. He'll get in on raw numbers, but by that measure, Monk should get in as well. BTW, Monk has 3 rings compared to ZERO for Carter.

Carter should NOT get in this year for the simple fact that he couldn't keep his damned mouth shut when he was being paid as an NFL commentator and stated that Art should not be in the HoF because of his numbers. Conflict of interest and most of all, just totally classless. |

Coach Mike Frandsen endorses Art Monk for the NFL Hall of Fame
damn I read a lot of things I didn't know about Monk... I really hope he makes it this year. Like it says in the article "he needs to be judged in the era in which he played, just like Hall of Famer Lynn Swann’s paltry 336 catches (604 fewer than Monk) need to be judged in that era". He deserves it... |
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Green was a shut down corner.. he dropped a lot of interceptions also..which would have made his lofty int numbers ever better.. definately deserves to get in THIS weekend

first game he ever played,he ran tony dorsett down from behind!dorsett had 10 yards on him,and green caught him.during the course of his career,he also ran eric dickerson, barry sanders and a shitload of other HOF type players down from behind.he's also the only redskin in recent memory to intercept 3 passes in 1 game.monk, and grimm should have been in a long time ago,but certain assholes from espn and sports illustrated just could'nt see past their pea size brains to vote for them. |

yes darrell was the corner every team wanted to avoid at all cost but at times had no choice and they paid dearly for it.. darrell was the ultimate redskin on and off the field..... yes he should be a lock..and hopefully monk joins him in the HOF. |
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Russ deserves better than a Tripod image.

green ran a 4.2 when he was 40 years old... that's nuts.

And won the NFL man fastest player competition 3 times, he was also clocked at 4.15 if I recall in his younger days. |

#28's punt return against the Bears when he tore cartiledge in his chest. Also if you didn't see #28 play, then you prob didn't see #81 (the original 81) play. Go to youtube, theres tons of clips there on him. |
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
I bet that not a one of them are put into the HOF. Monk should have already been in years ago and Grimm should have made it in last year and Green this year. But just because they played for the Skins they want be put in. I guess you have to be a cowgirls player who had all kinds of off the field troubles to make it in. Art did things that no other receiver was willing to do (i.e.) block, catch passes across the middle knowing he was going to get hit and hard, and keep his nose clean on and off the field and he played during a time where there was no five yard rule, a defender could bump you all the way down the field and knock you around pretty much a he wanted to. I'm not saying that the cowpuke players didn't deserve to get in but so do these three Monk, Grimm and Greenjust as much. And even Michael Irvin agrees that Monk should have been in long before him.

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
...not in order
Monk ,Green,Derrick Thomas,Tagliabue,Ray Guy,Kuchinburg.......will make it. |
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
plaxico burress talked about monk today at media day. they asked him when did he start playing football and what number he wore. he said he wore #81 and they asked why 81. he said because of art monk due to growing up in virginia. then he went on to say monk needs to be in the hall of fame and it is a shame that he is not in and should have been in years ago.
|
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
Art Monk looooonnnggg over due. Would be great to see Green in the HoF this year as well. Heck, go ahead and throw Grimm into the mix as well. It's a shame that not more Redskins players from our glory years era isn't already in the HoF.
|
Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
What a great way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of SBXVII (Jan 30, 1983) than Art Monk making the HOF. Monk deserves it and if not this year its a tough road ahead with Jerry Rice and Tim Brown becoming eligible next year. The longer he doesn't get in the more younger WRs will start becoming available and it will make the road tougher. With Doug Williams being honored at the Super Bowl, its a Redskins sweep on Saturday. All 3 get in!

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
I am hoping Grimm makes it. He is just overshadowed by Monk in people being upset.

I was glad to see a current player speaking out on Monk's behalf but I fear it might have been missed by more people because of in all the media day garbage. |

Plaxico has got my respect. I already have my sign made for the induction ceremonies, it says: THE INJUSTICE IS OVER, ART IS FINALLY IN!!! |

Why isn't Bobby Beathard in the HOF? He's been responsible or involved for 7 SB, going back to when he started in KC, Miami, Washington, SD. Here's a guy that's way overdo.

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)
No other reciever in the HOF has better numbers than Monk. It has been argued that he doesn't belong in the hall because he doesn't have the numbers to support putting him in. Lets compare his numbers to the last reciever put in the HOF Michael Irvin.
1.Receptions- Irvin 750/Monk 940 thats 190 more catches than Irvin 2. Rec yards- Irvin 11,904/Monk 12,721 thats 817 yards more than Irvin 3. TD's- Irvin 65/Monk 68 thats 3 more than Irvin 4. Super Bowl Rings Irvin 3/Monk 3 their even on that 5. Pro Bowls Irvin 5/Monk 3 so Michael has 2 more there, so what. who ever said Monk didn't have the numbers to be in the HOF apparently can't count worth a darn or just don't know football. The numbers speak loud and clear and so do we Redskins fans Mr. Peter "I don't think Monk belongs in the HOF" King. Yes Peter King of SI has led the charge to keep Art Monk out of the hall of fame. Shame on him he knows nothing about Art Monk's playing career it seems. |
