Gregg's talking to the Cowboys

Say it won't be so.

I thought he signed with the Jags?

If he signs with the Cowboys that would give us more reason to go after Spagnuolo.

I see zero chance he takes a position coach job. I bet he'd sit out a year before he did that.

if he goes to the cowgirls he will know ALL of our defensive weaknesses. especially since we will be running the same defensive scheme. I pray this is not true. He would really try and go after JC every chance he got just to stick it to Snyder's dumb a$$

i think williams can do better than a linebackers coach.

This is not a positive move for him. I'm suprised that more teams haven't been jumping at the chance to pick him up as thier DC. This is the reason we shouldn't have let him go, if he signs with the girls, it will make 2 tough games even tougher.

I would tend to agree. But if that were true, why make the trip and interview at all? Why not just tell your agent to respectfully decline the invitation?

Besides, isn't Williams resume' in the 4-3? And Dallas runs the 3-4.

Dom Capers was offered this position but has not accepted nor declined the job. Cowboys are just moving forward in trying to fill a vacant coaching position.

Dont do it Greg!!! I dont really know that he would be willing to take such a step back here. If I were him, after dealing with Snyders crap, I would take a long vacation in some tropical location, and come back into the mix next year when more spots are available. Or, why wouldnt he take the Jags job???

Because in Dallas he knows he would be able to face the team that just spurned him twice a year. The guy was considered a finalist for the Head Coaching position and he gets fired instead? That's gotta sting a bit.

But that is the only reason I could see Williams even remotely considering this opportunity.

Why do you think Parcells took the job in Miami when he was offered the same position in Atlanta? Because he got spurned by the Patriots, and he is garanteed to face them twice a year.

Re: Gregg's talking to the Cowboys

If he goes to Dallas then all love is lost IMO ! Fuck him, I understand he got a "Raw Deal" by getting passed over for the HC position but if he leaves for THEM ! To hell with him and his bullshit scheme. I know, he did a lot while he was here, and I loved him while he was here. But if he goes to The Darkside then screw him! That of course is my opinion !

He's not going to coach dallas...he's going there because he hates Snyder. Jones brought him in to "interview" in order to give his dirt on the Skins

Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?

This would be so awful.
Clipped from JLC's Blog:

[I]Former Redskins assistant head coach - defense, Gregg Williams, has drawn strong interest from Jacksonville, Dallas and Tennessee - sources said his agent had several lengthy meetings with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in Arizona during the Super Bowl festivities - and Williams could decide on his destination shortly (he would also has one year left on his deal with the Redskins, so the lawyer may have ot get involved to untangle that web as well).

If he signs with them, maybe since he's under contract with us we can get some compensation, as in draft picks.

Re: Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?

I could've sworn there was another thread about this but I don't find it now. I think he's more likely to go to the Giants (if Spags becomes our HC) than the Cowboys.

I think more than anything the Cowboys are "interviewing" Williams to get intel on the Redskins.

The link posted in the "Earnest Byner coming back" thread points to the same JLC Blog, but I didn't see any mention of the Williams to Dallas rumor in the discussion. Figured it was thread-worthy.

Like I said in the other thread regarding this. If he goes,...Fuck him ! Don't want to hear anything about a raw deal, how he was treated unfairly. He would be going to the enemy.

He was treated unfairly .. we didnt have any contact with him after the season, then fired him.. He did a lot for this football team.

Anohter scary thought - if you look at our defensive personnel over the past 4 years, it was pretty amazing what he accomplished.

You're right but as I said. He'd be going to DALLAS ! I understand his anger and his frustration, but as far as all of the I hope he does well bull ? NO, not from me ! If he goes anywhere but Dallas he'll get that but not there.

Right. No contact...other than 4 interviews (some at least 10 hours long)

Jax's dfense would be exceptional w/ GW at the helm. They have some good talent too.

I agree, Gregg is a hell of a coach and he was treated unfairly. The personnel he helped aquire over the years was AWESOME (for the most part.)

I'm curious. Do you really think he owes any loyalty to the team that fired him?

No compensation if he was fired, which he was.

Now if he opted out of his contract for a higher position on another team without being fired, then yes, draft compensation could possibly enter into the equation.

Exactly, and on top of that you can't just switch from the 3-4 to the 4-3. Though now that I look at it, seems like the Cowboys could easily switch back to the 4-3.

DE's Greg Elis and DeMarcus Ware
DT - Chris Cantry and Marcus Spears
LB's - Bradie James, Akin Ayodele, and Bobby Carpenter

Of course the secondary would remain intact, but damn, this isn't looking very good.

How anybody could think that Gregg Williams would actually take a position coach job is beyond me.
I'm curious. Do you really think he owes any loyalty to the team that fired him?
No, but if he had chosen to go to Dallas then he would be going to a team that I hate, so I'd be done with him. I never said that he owe's the team not to go to Dallas, but he'd be going there. I would still respect his coaching abilities as well as what he did here but he would be going to Dallas. Plain and simple. Do I owe him any loyalty if he goes to the enemy of my favorite team ? No.

Actually, Parcells wasn't spurned by the Pats. He took the job with the Jets for more $$$ and then took Curtis Martin away from the Pats to play for him and the Jets.

I suspect that Parcells turned down the job with the Falcons because the Falcons are in worse shape from a rebuilding standpoint than the Dolphins are.

Re: Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?

I believe the NFL rule is that there can be compensation for taking a head coach but there is NO compensation for coordinators or position coaches.

I don't know what the rule for GMs/personel directors might be.

I thought there wasn't compensation as long as they got a promotion...

I saw that. Thank goodness. Jax is a much better fit for his style, and Gregg has spent most of his coaching career in the AFC anyway.

I wanted to puke when I heard that Jerry Jones had more than one "positive" meeting w/ Gregg's agent during Super Bowl weekend.
