Sean Salisbury vs John Clayton

Kinda funny but he definitely crossed the line.

Funny, Clayton has always reminded me of a Keebler Elf.

Seriously thought I actually like Clayton. He is far better than Pastabelly!

How does Salisbury have a paid job period? He is a cross between a hamster and a baboon.

Seriously though, it was probably a bit out of line for Salisbury to say it on camera but the truth is these guys are always playfully ripping each other off camera. At the same time they have a mutual respect. Salisbury's a very blunt, loud guy. On and off camera. He's in your face and likes to heckle. But he's not really a bad person. Clayton is all class all the time, but he's got a sharp sense of humor

salisbury is an idiot who gets his point across by screaming and trying to intimidate people to prove a point. espn will be better when they fire his ass

honestly, no big deal. dust off and get back in the game...

that said, its extremely poor form.

Wow, I think I lost any respect I had for Salisbury. Its always alright to disagree with someone, but I think its better to do so in a more civil manner. I wonder what they're putting in the water these days at ESPN. First the 8 year old Berman tape gets leaked and now this. I guess I'll stick to NFL Network when it comes to Football.

its a weird relationship between the different sportscasters, it seems like it is respect on camera, but you'd think it to be the same off camera.

Wow, I guess Sean Salisbury doesn't know he is the clown! John Clayton is too nice, you could say "A Pro."

sean salisbury is an ass. He definitely uses verbal aggression to get his point across. I think he is a worthless analyst. John Clayton is far better.

Salisbury acts like a high school bully who is being outsmarted by the straight A geek in science class. He makes off like a complete ass but the fact that he does it in Clayton's face is funny as hell.

His follow up "Tales from the crypt" after he calls him cryptkeeper is what had me rolling though. Ah...the locker room days of old.

THAT WAS AWFUL. SS is a dick and he sucked as a QB. It's fine to jab at each other but that was over the line and I've seen him on many occasions do that to Clayton. Clayton is a geek but he's damn good at his job.

Re: Sean Salisbury vs John Clayton

I don't think SS would have went there if he didn't think Clayton could handle it.

First off, Salisbury is an idiot. he will always be. When he couldnot handle Clayton (which is frequently), he went personal.

Note:
Clayton is kind of a........creepster. Always reminds me of the son of the Creepy DEAD preacher on Poltergeist 2

Re: Sean Salisbury vs John Clayton

I'd have to agree with Mattyk72. If you ever watch these two go at it on ESPN, they take shots at each other all the time. Some times Salisbury comes across like a d*ck, some times Clayton is the d-bag. Salisbury probably apologized afterwards, but if he didn't, they are big boys. They can take it. Just my opinion, but think of this: how many times did anyone think Stephen A. Smith came across as being harsh when he was first on ESPN? I did, but after listening to what he had to say over time, I've come to respect what he says. He makes valid points, even if it seems like he's "up in your face" with what he says. He's friggin' awesome & his show is great on ESPN Radio.

Yeah they seem to have a friendly relationship so I don't see this as an issue at all.

I recently started listening to Smith's show and I have to say I really like him too. I like him more on the radio vs. on TV. Plus he just cracks me up how he gets fired up over things.

Stephen A. Smith is hysterical when he goes into his rants. Mattyk72, we some times don't agree about things on here, but on this, I think we are on the same page.

I figured Salisbury was like his character from "The Benchwarmers"...

SmootSmack has said it numerous times that these 2 have nothing but the utmost respect for each other, and since all 3 have the same signature on their paychecks, I'll go ahead and tend to believe Double S when he talks about it.

yup there like the odd couple . . . i enjoy there back n forth routine. calling clayton a "crypt-keeper" wasnt over the line IMO based on the line these two have mutually set. sometimes there funny sometimes there not.

go skins!

i do not like stephen A, but i know how to turn a radio dial so its all good.

Re: Sean Salisbury vs John Clayton

I keep seeing "SS" and think you guys are talking about me :)

As for Stephen A. Smith, I don't know what to make of him. I do seem to remember one time he had a guest on his show, some college basketball coach and he was talking about players that wouldn't be returning and suddenly Smith cut him off at one name and said, in his loud manner, "Are you telling me that (John Doe) is not returning next season?! You're saying that right here? You are confirming that he will not return next season?"

And the coach said, "Well yeah...he's a senior" Poor Stephen got schooled.

Anyhow, as for Clayton and Salisbury they do get a little riled up sometimes but it's not really a huge deal. Salisbury can really push your buttons sometimes though

i think salsbury is a piece of shit that needs to be flushed.he thinks he's the greatest ex nfler to ever live when he really did'nt do shit in the league.he played in canada a few years, but that is'nt the nfl.i hate the bastard, always have and will!!!

Re: Sean Salisbury vs John Clayton

Salisbury does seem the type to pop off at the mouth, I mean he still has yet to walk from Bristol to DC which I heard him say he'd do in '05 when asked about the Skins chances to make the playoffs late in the year.

I think Salisbury does make some good points when he's informed, however when he's not informed about something it doesn't stop him from making bad points because he likes to talk. They always go close to the edge on this segments, not sure why Salisbury went personal and Clayton looks more like the Great Gazoo than the Cryptkeeper. I had a buddy growing up who looked like the cryptkeeper, we called him the "3rd ugliest dude in the world."

As far as third rate former NFL QB's, Salisbury is great. What's Marc Wilson and Todd Blackledge up to these days?
My real question is what was the producer saying to Clayton while he was smiling on the split screen?

Re: Sean Salisbury vs John Clayton

I think I found out why Salsbury did what he did.

Suspension
In the fall of 2006, Salisbury was suspended by ESPN for one week, for alleged indecent exposure [1]. A column[2] in the New York Post by Phil Mushnick on January 19, 2007 confirms the suspension. As part of the terms from returning from his suspension, John Clayton made him drink a gallon of milk in five minutes.

How would you feel if someone made you drink a gallon of milk in five minutes.
