I did see anyone else post this yet. They released Leftwich, Crumpler & five others. I think Crumpler & Cooley would kill'em in the west coast offense.

i i think that that we should sign him for the vet min. i'm such a smart gm, i get grate players on the cheap.

I'm surprised Crumpler was the only good player on the offensive side of the ball, or at least the only one that I recall from the top of my head. I can't believe they did this all for a coordinator thats going to be there for a year or two. It's day like these where I'm glad DS is my owner.

I am honestly pretty shocked they cut Crumpler? He is their strongest offensive weapon. I guess his contract wasn't the best. He'll get paid by someone.

Crumpler would probably sign somewhere else.

Leftwich could definately be our backup QB though.

He'll be 32 when the season starts and only appeared in 5 games last year. No thanks.

Coleman would also be a really good signing, if we could get him at a good price. He wouldn't start for us, but we could actually have a tackle rotation. Go figure.

I had thought they might cut Dunn as well, guess they didn't.

Coleman and Leftwich are decent possibilities (and I supppose to a smaller extent-Crocker). Overall though nothing that really impresses me.

I'm suprised they cut Crumpler, they easily could've gotten a mid round draft pick for him had they traded him. Either way w/e they think is best for the team. I'm not really interested in picking up any of them, I like Coleman but I think he's getting up there in age and I'm not down for paying big bucks to someone who's on the wrong side of 30.

Sounds like it's house cleaning time in ATL.

Crumpler is good but he seems to always be battling injuries.

There is no way in Hades that a former all pro tight end will sign for the Vet minimum.

He would be great here, but some other team that needs tight end may sign him, like the Bengals, Seahawks, or Carolina.

Crumpler is probably headed to Seattle... that would make the most sense IMO... former coach Jim Mora Jr.. and then you'd be giving Matt Hasselbeck a good TE, something which I believe they lack.

The Skins should look into Rod Coleman though. He's on the older side at 31, however I still think he can be a valuable player in the DT position.

Crumpler is a great TE and would be great for the Redskins' situation, but the Redskins wouldn't be a good fit for him. He's just too good to play second fiddle to one of the 7 or so TEs in this league who are better than him.

No way Crumpler would work out here, too many guys that want the ball. Don't take away any of Cooley's action.

I like Leftwich & he grew up in DC as a Skins fan, but that's the ONLY thing that fits about him coming here. He has a ridiculous wind up & is already a big man, which makes his long wind up longer. The WCO is just not a good fit for him.

Lol, read the first part again I was kidding during the start of that post. Then I transitioned to how I feel about the situation. I personally despise the Veteran Minimum suggestion due to the fact that it is one of the most over-suggested solutions to bringing in players over the age of 30.

The veteran minimum usually goes through when you have a player that

1. Your not sure about
2. Usually over the age to 35
3. Feels your a contender and/or would like a chance to play for their childhood team.
4. Has strong ties to your coach and qualifies for point 1.

All I wanna know is WHY in the HELL you cut Algae? He's like, one of the only 3 bright spots on your offense, much less your whole frickin team. The Falcons I think are taking after Bill Parcells recent doings in Miami and following suit.

But, Crumpler though? Why not trade and try to get a pick or re-sign him or something! ANYTHING! I guarantee you next year all the analysts are gonna rag em for doing it when they've got 13 points through 10 games. Lol@ Falcons...Man, Vick really boned 'em.

Maybe, they tried shopping Algae around and couldn't get anything worthwhile. It doesn't make much sense.

The party line is that OC Mike Mularky favors blocking TE's over recieving ones so Crumpler would have little use in the offense. However I disagree with the move myself.

As I stated before I don't know how long Mularky is going to be the OC, especially on a team thats going to suck for the next five years. Personally I see him either being fired or taking a better job on a team that has a chance to score a TD or two. In the mean time Mularky is just trying to give himself something to do. So in my opinon, cutting your best offensive player just because the OC for the time being doesn't favor recieving TE's is a mistake. It's times like this where I'm glad I'm not a Falcons fan. Pat Yasinskas was speculating in an article yesterday that they may be looking to trade Dunn for picks so he still may be on the way out.

I agree with you on the Falcons cuts, nothing impresses.

I've been a leftwich fan since marshall, and would love to see him here, but i think he's still got some left in the tank. I think he goes somewhere where he gets an opportunity to start. He's got heart and a gunslinger's mentality, which can lead to turnovers... that's his drawback... but he's a lot like brett favre.

Actually, he's a lot like a young QB (who shall remain nameless) who played for the Redskins some time ago. Lots of heart, strong arm, intincts of a blind rhino and just as mobile.

I don't know if I'd go that far but I can see why Del Rio released him. He's got sloppy footwork, no molbility and has that long slow wind-up. He's got a big arm and that's it.

coleman could really add depth to the DL... hes a high motor guy that could fit in well here... not to mention hes an ECU alum which makes it a no brainer to me

he'd be a great band aid or injury assurance for 2-3 years. dude was getting 12 sacks as a DT, and i bet he can still get 8 avoiding injuries... either way, him + our roster + a 1st round DE = seriously scary DL.

Not to mention the Redskins are looking for a pass rushing DT (according to Vinny Cerato). However as DE's are concerned, looks like we're happy with what we got (Andre Carter got 10.5 and Marcus Washington/Chris Wilson combined for 9 sacks from the DE position). Of course compare that to the Giants who put up insane numbers this past season

Strahan - 9 sacks
Osi - 13 sacks
Tuck - 10 sacks

Apparently Crumpler may be heading to Carolina, I was a bit surprised to see him released but not that much. That teams is being blown up and re-started from the ground up. They prob are going to trade DeAngelo Hall too...looks like they are cleaning house.

He is a coach killer. Last season he criticized his coaches playcall and then dropped 8 passes in the ensuing game. He is another Micheal Strahan except Strahan can catch a little better.

Honestly, I am not familiar of Hall's playing ability. Just havnt seen enough of him... but being from VT and the fact that he is mad crazy good on Madden, I like him. Anyways.... hes too expensive for us anyway.
