Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
In the article it also mentions some stuff on Etan Thomas, I can't wait to see agent zero back with us, and hopefully he will be back to his normal form.

Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
I had free tickets to see Wizards vs Bucks, and they need Arenas and Caron back. I was so bored. It looked like the type of game you see at the park, only with dunks.

I dunno about that, last night they shot and made a bunch of 3's especially Antawn Jamison. |

They're so tired. Butler and Arenas out for extended periods of time with AD, DeShawn and Jamison banged up plus they are trying to stay below the luxury tax so they aren't bringing in fresh bodies. They have been all playing mad minutes. Once Arenas is back and they can cut down on some minutes they'll start pepping up. |

I don't understand how Antawn Jamison hasn't been hurt yet, he's playing like 40 minutes each game, and he's 30 years old, that probably not going to be good for his future. |

He's banged up to death. He has a chronic bad back and I think some knee issues but they have been so undermanned that he just played through most of it. He is their team MVP this year without a doubt even though he is only the third best on the team. Dallas blew it when they traded him away for Stackhouse. What a coup for DC that became. Let's see, we'll give you a constant malcontent who just wants to score points and couldn't care less about winning and you send us your team leader who does about 4 different things well and is respected by most everyone in the league. Now if only AJ could play a lick of defense. |
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
One thing that I don't understand is why Olesky Pecherov doesn't get more playing time, in the limited playing time he gets he's played pretty well, he can shoot, handle the ball, pass, iffy on defense, but he's a good young player that could help out and give Antawn Jamison a break every now and then.
|
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
Jordan is clearly weary of youngsters. McGuire almost never plays but seems to do well when given a chance. The biggest problem with him and Pecherov is that they really are lacking in specific areas. Pechrov can't play a lick of defense and McGuire has no offensive game to speak of. They are pretty big holes in those regards. Plus the 'Zards 2-6 are pretty solid. AD and Stevenson can play, Brenda has been better than one would imagine and Jamison is really a nice player. Body X starts for Butler and they have some decent production there and their pieces have been decent Mason and Young to be specific (the latter being the only youngster getting any serious time).
There's not a lot of minutes for Pecherov and McGuire I guess. |

he cant cover anyone. the name of the game, especially for the reserves is defense. and Pecherov couldnt cover me or you |
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
The Wizards played one of their best games of the year last night against the Pistons. I was at the game and it was great to watch 40 minutes of solid, fundamental basketball.

What do you expect? They are the wizards for goodness sake. (I know it's an old post, but I couldn't resist.) |
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
You guys should follow a REAL team:
Celtics.com: The official website of the Boston Celtics. The wizards should be thankful they are in the East, where else could they be a 5 seed when barely over .500? |
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
I guess it feels pretty good for you to finally talk about the Celtics as a real team again.

You have NO IDEA!!!! :D I actually bought a KG jersey...the first Celtics jersey since I bought a Reggie Lewis jersey. It's been a long drought. I've been lucky with the Red Sox, and the Bruins have not done anything in many years, as well as the Skins...at least I can have the Celtics. |

Too bad that Butler isn't #5 instead of #3. They could be the 504 Boyz, oh wait, that's already been done.

Well, if you really think those 3 from the wizards beat the 3 from the Celts, you need your head examined. I was going to post stats to prove my point, but what you are suggesting is so blatantly incorrect it's amusing, and not worth my time and effort. The celts 3 might be one of the best 3 trios to EVER play. Likely not the best, but they are certainly up there. You would be better suited trying to say that Spurrier was a better coach than Gibbs than say the wizards 3 is better than the Celts 3. I know you're a fan and all, but come on. Come clean and admit it was a joke. |

The 304 Boys from West Virginia, represent ;) It's nice that Grunfeld and Jordan have built a competitive team in Les Boulez. I'm not a big NBA fan, but it makes it easier that the local team has been competitive. |

They already clinched home field advantage. But hey, if beating the best team in the NBA makes you sleep better at night, more power to you. Congrats on the win. You need to win a couple more so that you don't have to face Detroit first round. (you are two games above 7th place right now) NBA - Standings - Yahoo! Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
Home field?? What sport are we talking about here?
Did they have nothing to play for the last two times? Nothing to play for yet each of their top 3 players played at least 30 minutes (close to 40 for Allen and Pierce). |

The Wiz hit big 3s and free throws to keep the game out of reach towards the stretch. Problem is no one moved in the East last night. Cavs and 76ers both won. |

Basketball. Didn't realize that accidentally saying field instead of court would confuse you as to which sport we were talking about. Now that we're on the same page, can we continue? (you're not the only person that has the sarcasm bone)
Did they have nothing to play for the last two times? We are the elite, and you are the posers. You won't beat Cleveland first round (assuming that is who you will face). It seems that Boston has difficulty with athletic teams, but given the chance to face them in a 7 game series, the Celts would prepare better for it. But again, it's all moot cause you will be dismissed far before you'll have to face the best team in basketball in a series. ps- you were only up by 2 at half. Don't underestimate the importance of Rondo. |

They have Boston's number. Anyway, funny story from last night. I was coming from the Nationals game which let out about the same time as the Wizards/Celtics. So we get to the Metro stop where the Wizards crowd and the Nationals crowd converged on the same platform. People are everywhere, right! You know folks are kind of chatting among themselves in a normal kind of way, but you could tell everyone had been drinking. So this drunk ass Wizards fan starts yelling from the over pass (we're under ground, but he's overlooking the crowd) "All Celtics suck! No Celtics fans allowed on the train!" Folks just erupted and started cheering the guy. I swear I thought the cops were gonna haul his ass away. |

I did.
Congrats on the win.
Sorry though, I am not going to sit here and think that the Wizards are better when the Celts are 21 games better. That's a HUGE difference. The only teams I will worry about are Detroit and who makes it out of the west.
Anyway, funny story from last night. I said SERIES, not a collection of games over the course of the season. When you have a SERIES, then you prepare for that opponant in a much different way. Also, you have 4 games left and are 2 games behind the Cavs. You are facing a few tough teams...Detroit, Phily, and Orlando. (you should beat Indiana without any issues) So what you're saying is the 21 games the Celts are above the Wizards don't mean anything cause the Wizards are better? Maybe it is you that needs to check the standings and give the Celts a little credit. Amazing. Congrats SS, you somehow make others look the other way when you make an instigating post. I didn't have anything against the wizards until this thread. I'm all for being a fan, but come on. |

I still find this to be quite astonishing. Last post on this thread was on 3/25. 15 days later on 4/9 SS writes this "Wizards beat the Celtics 109-95 on Wednesday night, 3rd straight win over the Celtics". And I'm the one causing a stir????? ps- you are only 5-4 in the span of 3/25-4/9. The Celts are 7-1 in that same span. |
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
Ok now you are being way too literal. If anything SS is preventing an extra thread about a Wiz win to be created, so he posted the win in a related thread about the Wizards.
This kind of practice happens, and is encouraged for all threads to make less clutter on this site. You and I both know this. Credit goes to the Celts either way. I don't think any Pats fans needed credit last season to know they were one of the best due to the record. Celtics gain that respect de facto based on record. The point is the Wiz have their number. |
So you suggest he create a new thread about the win?? Come on Js, the point is not to encourage creating new threads.
Why should you post any comment at all about the win???? It's not thread worthy at all. You didn't move up or down. Like I pointed out, you're 5-4 in that span, if you don't want to see the actual instigation behind it, that's your choice. Why not mention the other 4 wins? Why not mention that the Wizards are only 5-6, .455 with Arenas in the lineup this year? Which means they are 36-31, .537 without him. Or is it more likely the last few posts in this thread before SS's post were about the Celts and therefore SS's post? |
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
My main point of bringing up the game was actually to talk about Gil's shoes. I was going to start a new thread about how he was rockin' his Redskins shoes but then it just made more sense to continue this thread because of the tie-in with the Celtics and how this thread left off with Celtics/Wizards discussion.
I'm not ignorant (1310 SAT, MBA Marketing Management, 3.72 GPA ;) ) I realize that the Celtics are the cream of the crop for the Eastern Conference regular season and that ultimately all this did for the Wizards was give their top 3 stars a rare chance to play together this year and do so very effectively against a strong team. I also know that the Celtics' top three players have a bit of a stigma attached to them as to their ability to be successful in the postseason. So we shall see. I didn't start that post to instigate anyone or anything |
Re: Wizards’ Arenas Nears Return From Knee Surgery
I still think the guy at the Metro was funny.
