Re: NFL to release full schedules at 2pm today, 4.15.08
how insane is it that they are going to have a "schedule release show?" What's next, a "Franchise Tag Designation Extravaganza?" How about "OTA Attendance Sheet Special Report with Rich Eisen?"
|
Re: NFL to release full schedules at 2pm today, 4.15.08
We're to play Steelers on a Monday Night.

I just heard the same on Redskin radio. They haven't said yet whether it's a early in the season Monday night game or latter in the season game yet.......? Find out at 2pm. Side note: El is the special guest. Bram is giving El constructive criticism on his lack of production on punt returns, Bram said he expected more from El. El said stay tuned the Skins fans would be getting more this year. |

I watched that thing last year, it was pretty boring. All it was was the usual NFLN crew talking about which matches were gonna be the biggest n such. |
Re: NFL to release full schedules at 2pm today, 4.15.08
Yeah looks like that'll be our only Monday night game. Definitely not what we requested
|
Re: NFL to release full schedules at 2pm today, 4.15.08
Bram just said Larry already knows the schedule, and Larry agreed........but Bram is not allowed to look at it. huh.....the privileges Mr. Redskins gets......geez

Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
WOW! Thanks SS!
Our toughest stretch is Pitt, Dallas, @Seattle, NYG. And 3 outta the 4 are at home with a bye week thrown in after the Pitt game! I like it! I can't remember the last time we had a week 10 bye. I like that too. A late bye to gear up for the stretch run. I don't like playing 3 out of our last 4 on the road. |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
Schedule looks good.
I'm not really dreading a lot of the opponents that we have to face. Also our division games are spread out as opposed to years past. |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
It's been a while since we've been done with the Cowboys before Thanksgiving, too. Seems like in most recent years we've played our 2nd game against them very late.
Pros: The bye week comes at a good time.
Cons: I don't like 11/3 vs PIT BYE 11/16 vs DAL 11/23 @ SEA 11/30 vs NYG
It looks pretty tough as we sit here in April, but that is what happens when you play in the NFC East and draw the AFC North - I guess having the NFC West might help, but Seattle and New Orleans should be tough also. The bigger question I have, and which we won't know until later in the day, is how many teams we have to play coming off their Bye weeks. That is usually a tough draw. You are right, though, that four game stretch of road games doesn't do us any favors. Tough places to play all, and two in division. I guess it is good that at least the Bye week falls in there. |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
I thought we might play the Cowboys for the final game at Texas Stadium
Steelers isn't the MNF game we were expecting/hoping for (I think Titans vs Lions is one of the Thanksgiving games. Considering the PacMan rumors Titans vs Cowboys could have been better) |

wait a minute, where's our annual trip to Tampa Bay?

Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
I'm not crazy about the Oct. 12th and 19th games. Not because of difficulty,
but do to other commitments may be hard to attend. |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
Browns and Packers are each on three times on Monday night. Texans finally make it, hosting the Jaguars

Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
wait a minute, where's our annual trip to Tampa Bay?
Looks like it got cancelled this year. The reason for that is because we don't play the NFC South this year, and since New Orleans came in third in the NFC South we play them. The reason for playing Tampa Bay for like 4 consecutive years was because we either were A. playing the entire NFC South, or B. because they came in the same place as us in their division all those other years. The schedule looks good, I like it. There aren't too many stretches that I think we'll have difficulty with, although playing Steelers, then bye week, then Cowboys and then Giants will be somewhat tough. I like that we get the bye week before we play the Cowboys at home, that will give our coaching staff more time to prepare. Overall looks pretty good. |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
The late bye isn't good, but all in all the schedule appears to be pretty favorable. We're no strangers to ridiculously difficult November scheduling, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.
Here's where the Skins will earn their keep: October. Dallas, Philly, St. Louis, Cleveland, and Detroit. The Rams, Browns, and Lions all have their byes within three weeks prior to playing us, while we have no bye until week ten. I mean, the team is going to have to go 3-2 in October, and they are going to have to do it against some very prepared football teams. I do like the bye week right before Dallas comes to FedEx though. |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
Looks good right now but that really doesn't mean much. Teams that look tough now might not be so good and teams that look weak now could be tough, so who knows.
I do like the bye week though. Seems like we always get stuck with early byes. |

Guess they wanted to make sure they won their last game there ;) |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
I like the bye where it is. I like having it in the middle of the year, let's the player recharge when they're typically dinged.
I dislike the 4 Away games out of 6 to finish the season, including two trips all the way out to the west coast (Seattle week 12, San Fran week 17). But I love the 4 home games out of 5 from week 6 through week 11, including the bye in there. That's quite a homestand in there. Hopefully we can get it going! |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
I've seen better and I have seen worse. Its just so tough to tell anymore until the season starts. Like last year we thought beating Miami to start the year was a good win only to see them fall to the bottom.

I'm surprised by the september 28 date for the final skins game at texas stadium. Maybe the thinking is that it's best played early in the year when both teams are in it, rather than take a chance that late in the year nothing will be at stake. I really don't like it that we play them that early, or for that matter that we have 3 of the first 5 vs. div. teams. I think this team will be slow in getting in synch, but by mid season will start to come together. Dallas v.Baltimore in the last game at texas stadium would be cool if it were still the Colts, but the Ravens don't have that sense of tradition (though they have made a name for themselves this decade). Seems an odd choice to me. |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
It could be that the NFL just didn't consider the last game at Texas Stadium to be a big deal. I mean it's not like Fenway Park or Wrigley Field or something. To me, and most NFL fans, it's just another stadium. I wouldn't see any significance.

Well there's the tradition of the rivalry between the two teams. And the fact that the Cowboys played the final game at RFK |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
We'll start the season 5-3 go through our midseason slide and recover just in time to make the playoffs.

It's not just another stadium to me. I have so many memories of hearing summerall & madden on cbs doing a dallas game at 4:00. Whether it was the Skins or not, I always loved watching them cause they were the team we constantly hated the most. Also, I think you're underestimating dallas' popularity, they are "america's team", i.e. the team you root for if your not from texas and have no real fanhood. I hate to say it , but Texas Stadium is a bit special. I went to the Skins game there last year & had a great time till JC threw that pick. There's not a bad seat in the house. It's one of the most easily recognized stadiums in football & is one of the few small venues left. I think the last Skins v. Boys game there should be a big deal for the NFL as well as fans of both teams. |

Do you really give input into the schedules. I would have watned the steelers as our monday night game personally. my best friend is a steelers fan...all those years of playing madden against each other. what were you hoping for? |
Re: 2008 Redskins Schedule
Best part of this schedule IMO is the closing game againsed San Fran, just in case we really need that game like the last couple years....

There are so many damn Steelers fans it should be a huge game. Possibly the best MNF game they have in the line-up. |
