Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
30 minutes to tip-off of Game 1. Discuss the series here.
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Probably going to be my most watched series other than my Mavs facing the Hornets.
Game one is going to be extremely pivotal, if the Wizards can find a way to counteract the Cavs big men they can pull this off, but they need to keep Lebron out of the lane (which is difficult for anyone) Game 1 Wizards 96 Cavs 93 Arenas 24 points off the bench including 11 in the 4th quarter |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Act 3; Go Wizards! I have to go to a nephews birthday party and have to leave around 2:30 and Im going to miss the ends of both this game and the Caps game. Thank heaven for internet phones!

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
If Haywood keeps up the way he has been playing so far, the big man advantage that Cleveland has goes right out hte window.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Lebron looks like a little bitch.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Aww poor baby got his lip cut
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Oh Snap! That 3 pointer by Arenas was sick!!!

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Gilbert from 35 feet away
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Gilbert is on fire right now
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I'm charging the court!!! I hate the Cavs so much. A bunch of prima donna punks.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Hahaha. This series is going to be awesome! (I hope)
That's the most emotion I've seen from Jamison I think ever |

LeBron IS a little bitch. Whiney, premadonna, punk ass bitch. Hope he takes another forearm to the face. GO Wiz. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I don't have the same hatred for LeBron that just about everyone else here seems to have...but we really need to start smacking him around some more. He's on a bit of a roll now. Let's get McGuire in there to rough him up
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
OMG that call was BS LeBron was pretty much hugging him. He gets all the calls his way.
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
LeBron travels every time he goes to the basket. He's the NBA's golden boy, though, so it's OK.
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I can't believe Joe Smith is still in the league. With Smith, Wallace, Eric Snow and Sczerbiak the Cavs must be one of the oldest teams in the East

Yeah, when they did that jump ball I told daseal no way he'd win it - he's 40ish! Then they won it. Boo. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
We need to quiet the crowd down. Time for a deep 3
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Stevenson is really paying a shitty game today. And where's AD?
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Well....there's the 3 and from Stevenson no less!
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
It'd be a lot easier to beat the Cavs if we didn't have to play the refs too. I swear James gets every m.f.ing call and they don't even give a shit when he travels on his way to the basket. The Cavs will always be amongst my most hated teams as long as James is playing. It's like the NBA can't allow James to have a bad game because it will reflect on them or some crap.
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I wonder if when LeBron is just out in public and someone shakes his hand a referee comes running in blowing a whistle to give him two foul shots?
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I think we need to stop making excuses. LeBron is a very good player (great in fact). I don't think he gets "every call" but the reality is that the best players get the benefit of the doubt on calls in every sport, especially in the NBA. And I know some will say he's only great because he gets the calls. I don't buy that.
We (the Wizards) need to do our job and the fans need to stop acting like whiny, bitchy pre-2004 Red Sox fans ("oh we're so cursed, nothing ever goes our way. boo hoo"). Jamison was 1-8 from 3 point land, Stevenson was 1-9 for the game, Songaila 1-6 and we just want to complain about the refs? Tough loss, but the Wizards need to regroup and win Game 2 and go home with a split. And they need to bring in guys like McGuire and Pecherov to rough up the Cavs. I'm not saying hurt anyone. I'm saying throw some elbows in there, making these guys fear coming down the lane. |

As much as I and all the other Wiz fans hate it, we're just gonna have to stop making excuses and play ball good enough to beat them. And I don't want to be compared to pre-04 Red Sox fans, I don't think we're cursed and if we want to be the better team we have to rise above and not let shit like that affect us. I definitely agree about making them fear coming down the lane, we showed some physicality in game 1 but we need to stay consistent with that all game. If we don't stand up to them they will run all over us. And while I agree that Lebron is a great player, I just don't like seeing him get all the calls in his favor. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Well if he's going to get calls and go to the lane why not make the fouls count by knocking him on his ass a few times?
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
While I see what your saying, I just don't believe that the Wizards will do that, they'd rather play him close and get called for touching him. All I know is that we have to start stopping him, and if that means knocking him on his ass so be it.
We can't overlook the offensive side of the ball though, Lebron had a good game but the only reason it wasn't close at the end was because we weren't hitting shots like we should. Deshawn, while he did a decent job on d playing Lebron, wasn't productive on the offensive end and if we are going to beat them we need to hit the buckets when it counts. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Yeah I don't think they'd do that either. We're not the Pistons of 1988. And we definitely need to improve offensively. We can't be counting on 35 footers from Arenas to win games. Overall we played well today though. Just need to play better.
I'll bet Arenas starts Game 3 at Verizon |
I'm not saying hurt anyone. I'm saying throw some elbows in there, making these guys fear coming down the lane.
That's why we you need a guy like Jared Jeffries, a 6-11 SF, he can throw some elbows, and I think that if Dominic McGuire was given more playing time then he could become a Jared Jeffries type player. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Too much talk, and not enough production on the court, not a good combination.
Too much talk, and not enough production on the court, not a good combination.
Yeah, that was pretty dumb of the Wizards. You don't go and verbally bitch slap a team that has your number the past couple years, and wake up a player like Lebron. I know you guys don't like lebron cause he's beat you in the past, but he's a good player that can take over a game. 32 points on 12 of 19 shooting is pretty damn good. Stevenson and Jamison sucked from 3 shooting a combined 2 for 14...throw in Butler and all 3 were 2 for 17. That won't win you games. But hey, it's only 1 game, and it was in Cleveland, so keep your chin up Wiz fans. Also, be happy that the DC area is likely the 2nd best sports town in the country. The Redskins / Wizards / Capitals all made the playoffs...now if you can just get the Nationals to win. (5-13 is an embarrassment) ps- Boston is #1 with the (gag me) Patriots going to the super bowl, Sox winning the series (and in 1st place right now), Celtics going to the 3rd best record in Celtics history and by far best record in the NBA this year, and the Bruins making the playoffs. |

Yes, the curse was something of a persona, but no more so than the Cubs for instance. The Sox fans took mediocrity and unfortunate events for years and they were still there selling out every game and were more passionate about their sox than any other team in the country. That's not bitching and whining. All fans should look to the Sox nation for perseverence and an example of how real fans should behave win or lose. We / They are the role model fans...especially when 3.5+ million people showed up for that victory parade in the rain, and Old people in the hospital died cause they "hung on to finally see their beloved Sox win". Being a Red Sox fan is something your are born into...it's a lifestyle. It's never bitchy or whiny. Bite your tongue SS. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I lived with a couple of Red Sox fans in college and they, their families, and almost all their friends that were Red Sox fans had every excuse in the book for why they lost other than "we were beat, plain and simple." Great roommates, great friends. But annoying as hell as Red Sox fans.

You shouldn't judge the entire Red Sox nation on a couple of lunatic fans. You of all people should know that considering some of the yahoos that show up here claiming to be Skins fans. I was born and raised for 22 years in Boston around millions of Sox fans, and I'm telling you the majority are not like that. I will tell you that people (including myself) always had the idea that we were cursed in the back of our minds, but when we lost we did not bitch and whine about it. Bucky Dent / Buckner / Little not taking Pedro out all sucked, but ultimately we always blamed the team for not coming through. Like Shiraldi and Stanley actually screwed us in the 86 series, Buckner was just the last thing to go wrong. There were plenty of fans that actually enjoyed the fact that the team lost cause they got to keep their persona, and that history alive. (I know it's stupid, but they did exist) So no matter what team you have, there are always those few. But be careful labelling an entire fan base on a few. Otherwise, we skins fans could be the worst fans in the world in someone's eyes. ps- no fans are more obnoxious than Yankee fans, and no fans are more viscious and rude than Phily fans. (just an FYI) :D |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Well I never judged the entire Red Sox nation. Just that many (not just 2) Red Sox fans that I know were whiny and bitchy until they won the WS in 2004.
But regardless, I shouldn't have brought up because this thread isn't about the Red Sox or its fans. |

I just now realized that Tim Redding has 3 of the Nationals 5 wins. Damn good thing you have him eh? |

Never judged the entire red sox nation???? Here is your quote:
...the fans need to stop acting like whiny, bitchy pre-2004 Red Sox fans ("oh we're so cursed, nothing ever goes our way. boo hoo").
You are speaking for all Red Sox fans there sir.
But regardless, I shouldn't have brought up because this thread isn't about the Red Sox or its fans.
Very true. It's about the Wizards waking a sleeping giant in the Cavs with their big mouths. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Well I guess you can read it how you want to read it
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Red Sox fans are bitchy and whiney, all of them. I wonder how many fans brought their old hats and stuff out of the closet when they started winning, I have started to notice more sox hats around. My uncles are sox fans, they whine a lot.

Yes sir...I prefer a thing called english. Maybe what you should have said was..."well what I meant to say was some red sox fans." Mistakes happen. But hey, english can be a tricky language for some. |
