Trade for Boldin?
I just saw on NFL Total Access that Boldin has requested a trade. How would you guys feel about going after him instead of Chad Johnson?
Of course the Cards are saying no deal, but would they jump at the same deal we offered for CJ? azcentral.com | Phoenix Arizona News - Arizona Local News |

Dont get me wrong though for the right place Id take him, but that price is not a 1st and a conditional pick next year. Maybe a 1st this season and thats it. |
Re: Trade for Boldin?
I would do it. I wouldnt mind having either one of these guys. Boldin is alot younger so that might give the cards some leverage.

Re: Trade for Boldin?
I like Boldin but to me he's more of a #2 WR. I think he could make a great complement to Santana. And you could argue that he may even be a better fit for us than CJ.
But I wouldn't offer a first for him. |

Personally I love Boldin and I'd actually prefer him over CJ. I've always liked his toughess.

Re: Trade for Boldin?
Isn't it funny that the two most desireable trade possiblities at WR, are both from teams where the owner is considered stubborn and hard headed?
|
Re: Trade for Boldin?
He's not as good as CJ. But I'd give our first and a later pick. Definitely not the conditional 3rd we offered for CJ. A 1st and a conditional 4/5th that can move up to a 3rd. Don't get me wrong, I love Boldin, but I'm not totally sure he can be the #1 in any offense. But he's better than anything we have.

Re: Trade for Boldin?
If we were not as old on our lines , I would be fine with a # 1 for Boldin . Maybe Im old school , I just see too many throw first teams as weaker ,,, I would rather keep our 1st rd pick < or trade down for more picks > and pick up some nasty linemen . Portis might run wild with a strong ,deep line and big Mike S. at FB . Give JC a strong running game , the passing game will be fine . I hope the cowpukes make a big trade for CJ , would love to see Landry KO TO and Ocho Cinko in the same game :) .

Same here. I'd love to see him in B&G and would gladly give up our 1st + something else (e.g., 5th or player) for him. He's young, tough, and has good hands. |

I do too, in particular because I think he'll give us a legitimate number one and come WAAAAY less than CJ. |
Re: Trade for Boldin?
Didn't the Cards already lose Bryant Johnson? If so, they probably mean what they say -- he isn't going anywhere.
If they do wind up trading him, why not, go for it. The way I see it, this passing offense is stuck in mediocrity when the top two targets are Moss and Cooley. To get to the next level offensively, you have to line up with something better than Moss, ARE, and Cooley. |

Younger, no drama, bigger and more physical. |
Re: Trade for Boldin?
I like boldin a lot, but I don't really see where there are any wideouts worth anything more than one first round pick, and I wouldn't even want to really give that up.

Re: Trade for Boldin?
johnson, moss, and randall el would be one hell of a pass catching"posse" aye???
|
Re: Trade for Boldin?
Go after Marques Colston (he's my new Justin Smith :) )
|
Re: Trade for Boldin?
I would love it if we actually trade for Boldin.. He's a TRUE WR who does not complain or tries to get attention.. And I would prefer him over CJ.. But giving up a 1st rd for him kinda makes me to hesitate little bit but I would go for it..
I will kiss Vinny's feet if this trade actually happen.. |

Re: Trade for Boldin?
Boldin has had a few really big years, in 2005 he had 102 catches for 1,402 yards, I'm sure he could handle being the #1 option.
|
Re: Trade for Boldin?
Boldin is worth more than CJ because he is just entering his prime. Drafted in 2003, 2008 will be his 6th season...usually the best year for a receiver.
A first rounder would be a high price for him, but I'd do something like our first for their third and Anquan Boldin. Both Boldin and Roy Willams make more sense than CJ for us. |

In only 14 games, no less. I'll take Boldin over Chad Johnson any day of the week. |

That could be this year, I mean Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger both broke out as 4th year players, but usually its the 5th season. I think it would be smarter to wait until we see Campbell develop, and then go out and pay a lot for a receiver who may not be on the market yet at this point. Because then, you know he can come in and contribute from day one, as opposed to bringing him in and having him get frustrated while the QB is developing. |
What is a "TRUE WR"?
More importantly, did you even read the first post of this thread?
Well, obviously I should have added "it's my opinion" in that post.. Since everyone has their own opinion of true WR.. To me, a true WR is a hard working player who can catch the ball from any kind of QBs (he has proven it with Leinart, Warner, and perhaps one more QB? I'm not sure), and after he catches the ball - he can run fast and even hit defender who gets in his way.. Also the last thing of true WR, that player does not complain if he does not get enough ball or anything that does not go his way.. And yes, I did read the first post? If you are talking about the offer we made for CJ; then no I would not kiss Vinny's feet lol.. As I mentioned in earlier post, I don't feel right about giving up a 1st rd however it is Boldin we are talking about.. I have always believed that Cardinals have best WR duo, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin - the players who happen to be hard working players who do not complain about anything.. What more can you ask from a player? |

Re: Trade for Boldin?
I would definitely get behind trading for Boldin. He would be a fine #2, he's a nice bruiser at wide receiver and he'd be a good complement to the speedier Moss. He's got height too and he's younger than Chad. I'd give up our first draft pick for him easily. He's not a head case either so we wouldn't have to worry about that.

Ah I see your point now, and yes you are right.. Boldin did request for trade (in this term, yes he did complain) however what he did was right.. He went to his coach and team and told them that he wants to be traded.. He did not what CJ did, he went to media and told people that he wants to be traded.. Am I not wrong? So are you saying that it's "wrong" for anyone to want to be traded out from a team? Take TO as an example, he blamed McNabb and complained to media.. Randy Moss, he plays when he feels like it and he does not watch what he says to the media.. Well at least until he became a Patriots.. |
Re: Trade for Boldin?
GridIron26 -- CJ went to the Bengals organization first, and then went to the media. Expect Boldin to do the same if he doesn't get his way. He's just as greedy as CJ. Sees that big contract Fitz has and knows there's not enough money for him. He's looking for a big payday too.

I guess we have different expectation of Boldin, I don't believe he will go to media once he does not get what he wants.. But you and SS will be first people I will tell, "you are right" if Boldin do what u guys expect him to do.. |

Yeah I don't see Boldin raising quite the huge stink that CJ has either. |

I have no problem with what either Boldin or Johnson have done. The NFL is a cut throat business. Either of those guys could be cut today by their teams, so why not look out for themselves. Whether or not "complain" is the right word, they are both demanding a trade. Just because CJ is "louder" about it doesn't mean it's worse, in my opinion. |
Re: Trade for Boldin?
I find it very interesting how if a player asks to be cut or traded people get up in arms about how they signed a contract. Didn't the team sign the same contract when they're cutting players because they're due to make too much money? No one complains about that or talks about how the team is whining. Both sides break contracts, the difference is players cant do it on a whim so they have to exercise all their options in order to get out.

Re: Trade for Boldin?
boldin is a good #1, but with injury issues.
a #1 would be alright, but no conditional like with CJ (who's a bit better and injured a lot less). |
Re: Trade for Boldin?
I question any player that demands a trade unless the player truly feels that his team has screwed him over with false promises, like Pete Kendall. I'm really not sure about Boldin. I think he plays very well with a chip on his shoulder but I wonder if he'll continue to play with such a high motor after he receives his recognition...$$$.
I say let Mix have a chance to be our Boldin/Colston. |

that's bull though, cause he was the #1 his rookie year and almost hit 1400 yards. he's not only a #1, but he's a very good #1. He's much better than roy williams when he's not injured. |

I was watching Sportscenter before, and Mortensen said that we offered a trade for Boldin (they didn't have any details on what we offered) and the Cardinals rejected that too.
