who is our most physically gifted player now?
Sean is gone... Now that the draft is over and we have atleast a glimpse of who is on the 08/09 skins I want to know who do you think is our most physically gifted player on this roster. For me it would have to be between Portis, Landry or Moss.
Moss gets hurt often but he still has the speed, he can jump high as hell and makes sick cathes. Portis has speed, football smarts and can take a hit n keep on going. Lastly Landry is just a freak! Everytime I see him I just think about Sean, because he was even more talented and seeing them together as veterans would have been magical. Well, If I had to pick one it would be Landry just because of speed, physical presence and football smarts... plus he can catch the ball. What do you think Warpath? |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
I would agree on Landry, but just to be different I will say London Fletcher. He is old, but he is still fast and he makes every tackle on defense.

I am a VERY gifted player :FIREdevil |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Andre Carter
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
He runs, he catches, he blocks, he throws touchdown passes.....Clinton Portis.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Chris Samuels. This dude is huge, fast and agile. It's amazing, I don't understand how the human body can do that. I really think we don't understand how good this guy is because he does it year in and year out.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Andre Carter is simply ripped if your talking about phisically gifted its him... As far as an overall gifed player I would go with Portis because of his speed, awareness, and above all he is one of the best blockers on the team.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
This is tough as hell. I thought Landry as soon as I saw the thread but like ya'll said AC is a beast top to bottom, CP is a mega-talent, and I think Cooley has to make honorable mention. Probably right now I have to go w/ Portis because of all the intangibles coupled w/ his talent and ability but... I believe it will be LL within a year or two.

Definately agree with this. Obviously most of the NFL has gifted talent, but Chris Samuels for his size is truley amazing. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
id probably go with landry. dude is pretty beast. I hate his stupid penalties, and hope he soon realizes all he's gonna do is ensure that he's called for anything even close to a penalty for the next 5 years, but you have to admire his talent and raw athleticism.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
As far as raw skills and athleticism I would definitely go with Landry. He could be the 2nd coming of Sean Taylor.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
This is an interesting question. I agree that Landry is the obvious answer, although AC most resembles a Greek mythological character. As John Thompson said, he has muscles growing out of his muscles.
I am excited to see what Devin Thomas is able to bring to the table as well. Kiper said this year that going just on physical talent he was a top talent, the problem being that he was JUCO transfer and a one year wonder. But if we are talking purely athletic skills I think the sky is the limit for him. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
id have to go ARE... played qb in college, also played bball (may baseball too?) and by far is the most agile on the team
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
are is a strong contender, good call.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
definitly landry.no question.i just cant wait 2 see these rookies(u cant forget about cooley either, he may not b the fastest, but none of those guys can make a spectacular catch then run over the next 2 or 3 guys on the way 2 the endzone!COOOOLLLEEEEEYYYYYYY!!!!!
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Raw athleticism, definitely Landry. Andre Carter is a close second, with Portis, Samuels, and Randy Thomas rounding out my top 5. Offensive lineman are severely underrated as far as athleticism is concerned. They aren't physical specimens, but they're all like 6-5+ 300lbs+ and move so well... It's really impressive.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
landry. as a prospect he has a higher rating than taylor, maybe the highest ever for a safety...
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
athleticaly gifted or physically? Portis and landry are both our top athletic and physical players, where andre is a BEAST and so i samuels so when i think of athletic and physical they're two different things
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
you can be a physical specimen but not be athletic at all, of course not talking about the nfl
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
I'm surprised that there isn't enough of you that think Portis is hands down. Then of course my man, Big Mike Sellers.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Yea if the question is physically gifted then its AC hands down, Portis would fit into the athletically gifted. Like some one said, Carter looks like a Greek god.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Agreed he gets a decent amount of sacks, BUT he needs to be more of a COMPLETE defensive end that can also play the run better too. He is good, there is no denying that. But, I also judge physicality on heart and toughness, and in my book CP has crazy amounts of that.

Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
I throw my vote in for Devin Thomas...Hes the most physically talented reciever to come out this yr...6'3..215.. 4.3 40yrds....Hes going to be the surprise of the season for the skins...He reminds me of Andre Jhonson of the Texans..

From the way he runs in his highlights I get an Andre Reed vibe, especially with how his helment fits to his head. They have a similar straight on running style. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
DT. I watched him play and he's a beast

Totally agree for the rooks - Landry for the vets. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
You said it yourself, Landry is a freak. I would have to take Landry with Portis in a close second.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Just physically - Andre Carter. I sawe a clip of him lifting and it was insane what he's capable of.
If talking about football gifts and skill - between Portis and Landry for me. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
I think Randy Thomas is probably our most physically gifted player. He's strong as a bull and pretty damn quick for an O-lineman. Landry is a close second.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Hands down its Clinton Portis. He's the best blocking running back. He catches out of the backfield like the best of them and he's a beast through the tackles.
|

~~~~~ I got to go with LaRon too. Sure he has had some stupid penalties but Sean did too at the beginning of his career. God bless Sean he was simply the best. Behind LaRon I would say Clinton, he is a runner and a bruiser. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Hands down - #30 LaRon Landry.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
I dont mind the unnessary roughness calls so much as long as he gets a good hit on them.
Are you talking about LL if so I hope your kidding? If so that is a big negative in his young career a costly penalty at a crucial time in the game, sure everyone loves the big hit at the right time or anytime for that matter as long as its clean and not costing us yards. You can not get 15 yards tacked on to the end of a play for unnecessary roughness, those are game changers plain and simple! He will hopefully mature and grow out of the dumb mistakes. Back to thread: Andre Carter is still the most physically gifted player on the current team, without a doubt. |
That being said I think it is Landry, then portis and we will have to see about Devin thomas. I would like to see the portis v. landry footrace with devin thomas added in the mix. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Yeah LL needs to chill with the dumb penalties but at the same time that kinda comes with the territory when you have a young aggressive safety back there. A part of me likes that sort of intimidation factor.
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
LaRon "dirty thirty" landry, CP, tana, and then honestly rocki bc of his size and speed
|
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
Durant Brooks! Anyone who can be compared to Ray Guy in College has to be physically gifted.
In all seriousness though, I'd have to say Portis is the most Physically gifted player we have since the death of ST. He is one of the most physically gifted players we have ever had on offense. |
Re: who is our most physically gifted player now?
A part of me doesn't want to talk about this, just for the simple fact that Sean Taylor was probably the most physically gifted player I've ever seen play the game. How many players could you say had the speed of a cornerback, the prototype build of a safety, and could hit like a linebacker? When I think about it, I feel like nobody came close to being as physically gifted as him.
If I had to answer the question though, I guess I'd say Portis. Just because of the all around ability that he has. I don't get why so many people think he isn't a good pass catcher though. He caught almost 50 balls last season. |
