RIP Tim Russert

Died of a heart attack today. Only 58.

Very sad. I used to see this guy all the time in DC, mainly at Wizards games. Great guy. They don't make 'em like Russert and Bob Schieffer anymore. Sunday mornings won't be the same.

Whether you agreed with his methods or not, he was a straight shooter and no fluff and spin.

Wow that's unbelievable. I was watching him last week as well with my dad. What a shock. RIP Tim Russert.

Re: RIP Tim Russert

I was watching MSNBC when the news broke, and Tom Brokaw was getting pretty choked up. They all are. David Gregory, Brian Williams, Andrea Mitchell... all visibly shaken. His office on Nebraska Avenue is only about a mile and half from the house where I grew up. Like Russert, I'm a Jesuit educated Catholic sports nut with roots in upstate New York, and for those reasons I've always found it very easy to relate to him. I have so much respect for his journalism and all who he was a man. This is really ashame.

I work near Sibley and drove past the NBC studio on my way home. It was surrounded by reporters, but I had no idea why.

I liked Russert. Only 58. What a shame. Thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Re: RIP Tim Russert

may god bless his family. don't know if this is appropriate, but when did the reporters start becoming the news? its probably the single biggest reason there are so many inaccuracies in news today. everyone wants to break a story, without checking out facts, and sources.

Re: RIP Tim Russert

If you guys remember last Decemeber I had the opportunity to go to the NBC studio on behalf of Warpath. Well they showed me around and took me where the shoot Meet The Press. There was nothing particularly special about it. But I was like, "is this where Tim Russert shoots Meet The Press?" He said, yep right here.

I was like, man I'm on Tim Russert's turf today.

Such a sad story, did anyone see the interview with his son Luke this morning on the Today Show? He seems like a really good kid.

I was not a big fan of his but its sad when anyone goes at such a young age. It also shows how even with all the advances in the medical field bad things still happen. I heard that he had just had a stress test like a week before and nothing showed up on the test.

Thanks for finding that Matty. He was a fun and enthusiastic speaker, and I'm glad I was lucky enough to hear him.
