sleeping vs. eating
Which is the more satisfying activity?
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Eating! I sleep through sleeping. =)
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Someone is really bored today!!!
I'd probably say sleeping because if I'm eating really good food I tend to gorge myself to the point of sickness, and that overwhelms the memory of said good food. A good night's sleep or a perfectly timed nap can be the greatest thing in the world. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Sleep is a weird thing that even too this day science really doesn't knew all that is involed in why we need it so bad. they knew what happens in sleep but why can't we accomplished that when we are awake.
When you think about how we are so tuned for survival but sleep is so important that our bodies are willing to completely shut down (thus making us vunarable to attack) to get sleep. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Sleep is far more enjoyable.
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
I wish we didn't have to eat or sleep at all. Imagine how convenient it would be, and how much time you'd save, if you didn't have to eat or sleep.
But, I prefer sleeping over eating. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Can't sleep a filet, and a baked pot.
I'll sleep when I'm dead.............or I run out of filets |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Sleeping is far more enjoyable. In fact, I think I'm going to take a nap right now.
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Before kids, I would have said eating...but now that I have a kid, sleeping trumps eating by leaps and bounds.
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
My name says it all. Not that there's anything wrong with eating...

+1 This is a no-brainer. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Tough call for me. I love both, but if I have to pick one I'd give the slight edge to sleeping.
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
If I'm sleeping I'm not eating...sleeping is the logical choice.
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Eating is so good...you'll have plenty of time to rest when you're dead
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
nothing beats a good home cooked meal. nothing.

Oh god I have a three month old. I may have to re-vote. At this point though I have given up trying to fight for my old life back so I don't miss the sleep as much anymore. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Here's the ultimate hypothetical.
You're trapped in prison, and there's no possibility for you to eat or sleep. It's been a week since you're last meal, and you haven't slept for days. You're then presented with two doors. Behind the first door lies a king sized perfect bed with a down comforter. The room is filled with a surreal ambiance that causes you to drift off by the very thought of entering the room. You're told that upon choosing this door, you will be granted a full nights rest and then released from prison after you wake. You may have an empty stomach, but you'll finally get some much needed rest. Then there lies the second door. Your told that the room behind this door is filled with every imaginable food you can think of. Everything from mashed potatoes to 10oz filets cooked to perfection. There are succulent fruits and rich desserts. The mouthwatering shmorgusboard dances in your brain as thoughts of gluttony cascade across your hypothalamus. It will truly be a day in ecstasy, albeit a tired one. Upon completion of you're feast, you will have to wait another 12 hours in prison without sleeping before being released. If you have to choose a door....which one do you choose? |

However, each Sunday morning, part of me longs for the days where I could stay in bed until 11. Now, sleeping in consist of my wife using the baby to wake me up no later than 8am. |

Re: sleeping vs. eating
Sleep is only satisfying if I get enough of it. Which isn't often. It feels nice to lay down in bed, but way too often I have to get up before I'm ready. And that's painful.
I'll take eating any day. At work, I look forward to lunch. On my ride home, I think about what I'm going to have for dinner. On Friday nights, I bust out of work all excited for my routine Friday Philly cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms. I never get excited about taking a nap. |

No way dude, if I'm that hungry there's no way I can fall asleep. If I miss a meal I'm crabby as hell. If I miss a good night's sleep, well that's just normal life! |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
I would have to choice the meal in the prison. How could you even sleep being that hungry?

I always feel worse afterward. It also makes it harder for me to fall asleep at night. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Me + Food = Sleep,
its like winning twice |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Very, very tough one. But since I was working until 3:45 am this morning and got back into the office at 7:30 am, I'm going to have to go with sleep. I feel like I'm high off my ass right now.

Re: sleeping vs. eating
Are we talking about eating at a first rate Vietnamese or French restaurant or like a ham sandwich?
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
I’ll take a well cooked porterhouse and trimmings over a nap any day.

I can assure you that there are no first rate Vietnamese restaurants in Lancaster. You should probably stick to sleeping and Burger King Dmek. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
I live to eat good food. Sleep just gets me ready for breakfast.

Couldn't we just eat our kids, then we could sleep all we want. Too far? |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Eating. I love good food and spend a good portion of my excess cash towards it. I don't even think of sleeping as in any way pleasurable. I sleep because I have to and don't take naps unless I had a particularly rough night. I am fine sleeping on the floor, on a couch, in the woods, hot, cold, whatever.
|
Re: sleeping vs. eating
I love cooking and eating good food. Doesn't have to be gourmet, but doesnt have to be down home cookin' either.
I hate sleeping. I sleep as little as possible. I stay up as late as i can and I get up as early as possible. It's nice to get rest, but I feel like I miss so much. I like to stay up late and play video games or "cuddle" with the wife, and I like to get up early to get a jump on the day. I feel like sleeping late robs you of so much productivity.... Hands down eating is the more enjoyable. |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
Gotta go with sleeping. If I don't sleep, I get grumpy...really grumpy. If I don't eat, it doesn't matter, I can go well over 24 hours without eating, but I can not go a night without sleeping. I need my 8 hours of sleep (sometimes 9-10), and I am in a good mood 95%+ of the time due to that. I think when I was younger, I would have gone with eating, but now that I'm older I see the importance of sleep.
I can see it both ways, but my preference is sleep. |

there is a lot of good pho in the DC area. I love that stuff! |
Re: sleeping vs. eating
I can get by on 5-6 hours of sleep but if I do it for a few nights in a row it definitely catches up with me. My problem is I hate going to bed but at the same time I hate getting up. I just can't win.

Re: sleeping vs. eating
we need sleep because without REM (rapid eye movement) during the first stage sleep which the brain doesnt recognize (which is why you can never remember exactly what time you fell asleep) neurons start regernating and we go insane and die. Thats all I know
