Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
Jay Glazer reports
in less than 24 hours, one of the best DE's has joined our team and one of the best TE's has left our division. pretty good day. |
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
I thought this would happen a long time ago. Good to see him out of our division.

NO gave up a 2nd rounder which is very fair and the NYG really didn't need him cause of he emergence of the late round draft pick in Boss. NO is going to have a pretty explosive offense this year. |
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
Wow, now I have to reconcile my feelings about this guy because I root hard for the Saints. I don't know if this is really a great move for them. They're a team who has the ability to make the playoffs this season, I don't know how much Shockey helps them. He's an upgrade at TE, but he could ruin that locker room, he should get plenty of balls though, maybe that'll keep him happy.

Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
he's out the divison and the last time he played as a giant, the redskins put his ass out for the year.
|
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
I hate Shockey so glad to see him gone.

How do you call this trade good for both teams, but the Taylor trade awful for the Redskins? |

only one more sorta FA left now....

jeremy's not a bad guy, he just wants a qb who can consistently get him the ball. now, he might be getting more than knows what to do with. i smell a career year for shockey. |
How do you call this trade good for both teams, but the Taylor trade awful for the Redskins?
Because Shockey is probably going to play at a high level for several more years. He's got a Pro Bowl QB throwing to him and his former O-coordinator who is knows him and knows his game. With the emegence of Boss, NY didn't really need him. Plus NY has Toomer, Plax, Steve Smith, Moss' little brother and they just drafted Mario M. They are pretty solid on offense. Taylor could potentially play one more year and then go off and and try and make movies...or try and be Mr. Twinkle Toes again. I would bet that if we win 5-7 games he could walk. If that happens then we're right back to square one minus the draft pick, which could be a high 2nd rounder. I'm going to say this one more time. Sometimes guys get hurt and you don't know what you have in the back-up until he gets in the game and shows what he can do. The Giants saw what Boss can do, he's had a great off season so they let Shockey go. But not before they got some value in return. |
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
I am actually disappointed about this trade. Shockey is usually good for a 15 yard penalty in critical situations.
|
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
Just thought Id mention that on March 24th this was posted by me. PFT is not always BS. Im glad to see Shockey go, I don't have to listen to the announces talk about him all the time anymore.

Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
You mean i don't ahve to see or listen to that annoying POS anymore? Great day.

I told all of you this would happen,he's nothing but a jerk ...yes he is most likely one of the top 3 TE's in the league but his route running sucks and he's a freaking head case.Look what he's mad about...the Giants would'nt let him on the sidelines during the super bowl.....No one injured on either team was aloud on the side lines ...he didn't go to the ring cerimony ,or to meet the Prez....good riddens and that should also save us 2 penilties a game. |
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
If it weren't for his mouth, I doubt the Giants would have traded Shockey. Boss is not a replacement for Shockey. Maybe in the future, but not now.
So, the only question is his mouth. Can he keep it shut? Payton knows him better than almost anyone, so you've got to give him the benefit of the doubt. |

ummm, how could you have posted this on march 24 when it just happened today? is it really that important to you that it be known that you were the first person to mention, on this forum, what at that point was nothing more than speculation? well, fine. Not letting him on the side lines was a team decision and if I played for a team and helped them get to the SB I would be ticked if they did that to me. |

No it was not,not one Giant Player or Patriot player that was hurt was on the sideline. |

I know he's a headcase but I think Payton knows how to handle him. More importantly I think Payton knows how to use him. And so what if he didn't go to all that stuff. That wouldn't bother me. |

Maybe but he's a step slower and always hurt and as for the other stuff the rest of the "team" cared .....why would you want someone who is more about himself then the team? |
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
The "emergence of Kevin Boss" was a handful of games where he made some nice plays. By no means is he on Shockey's level. Maybe he's a better fit w/Eli cause he doesn't demand the ball, & talk all the time, but he's certainly not the player Shockey is.
I think the G men had quite a run last year in which they got everybody to chip in. I can't see them playing at that level for a whole season. If Plax is slowed by injuries their recieving corps is really thin. Maybe they had to trade him, but they will miss Shockey's ability. |
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
I mean, Shockey hated it there once they won the super bowl without him. But objectively, this is a bad move for the giants. I don't care what boss did over 6 games. He isn't Shockey. Shockey is a little bitch tho and if he were a skin i probably would want him off if he was having a little hissy fit.
Saints offense has the potential of being off the charts. We got to paly them early in the year. This makes the first 5 games even scarier for us. If we get out of the first 5 games alive then we will be very very fortunate. |
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
Looking at Boss's stats I'm suprised. Giant fans played him up. He had 5 catches for 90 yards and 0 TDs over the 4 playoff games. Shockey would do that in one game. Boss is a back-up and the pressure is on for him to perform now. I hope he sucks.

They dog it because while on the one hand they have a legitimate story with a credible source like the Shockey rumor they also don't hesitate to say "A reader called in to say he's heard Favre is a done deal to the Redskins" There's no filter. |

lol nice Sorry skinsfan69 but you're coming off like a big hypocrite here. Shockey whined his way outta NY and was a problem child and you're fine with that. Jason Taylor went on a TV show and that's a huge issue to you. I don't get it. |

Wait wait wait wait wait.. So the Taylor trade is ass-awful because we gave up 2 draft picks (spread over 2 drafts) for a perennial pro bowler who is extremely durable and fits an immediate need BUT NO giving up a 2nd and a 5th in 2009 for an injury prone malcontent who was no better than the 3rd best TE in his division is 'very fair'?!?!? Just wow. Ok, back in the real world.. I'd love to hear Giants fans convince me now that they are better than 3rd or 4th in the division. They lost 2 players that were top 10 at their position (Strahan & Shockey), 2 LB and a starting safety. Their star WR is upset at his contract and hardly practices anyways. Add in a Super Bowl hangover and they've got 6-10 written all over them.. |

I didn't say that anyone called him an all pro. Many in New york have said he is a good enough replacement. People were talking about his run block skills and how they were better than shockey's. That may be true; you obviously know more about that than i do. But to say you got the better end of the deal doesn't make sense. The fact is the only reason it is a good deal is because he is a disgruntled player. Looking at strictly talent, you can't say that it is a good deal for you. Like I said it was a deal you had to do because Shockey was having a hissy fit. But the fact that everyone in new york is ok moving on without him just because he wasn't there for the playoffs is the reason he was upset. He is a member of the team. Not being allowed to be there with your team at the what should eb the pinnacle of your career is going to piss any hard worker off. He is a basketcase but a year ago you wouldn't think that he was only worth a second rounder. What changed was you won a super bowl and now everyone thinks they don't need him. Again that is why he is upset. I'm just glad giant fans finally agree that he is a psyco. The rest of the NFC east and NFL has been saying that for years. |

Did they really trade Shockey because they have Kevin Boss on the roster?
|
Re: Jeremy Shockey is a Saint
They traded Shockey because he was a jerk-off who didnt do what he was told imo
Kevin Boss just ran his routes and blocked his man and did his job and thats what NY wanted. Shockey will catch a lot of passes in NO though so, he'll get to run his mouth a little and be a fool. |

Oh come on. Give me a break. Mr. Twinkle Toes was missing team workouts because he wanted to win some silly ass dancing contest and promote is Hollywood career. Not going to see Bush and all that other stuff is totally different and you know it is. |

Really gonna miss Shockey whining. And the look on his face when he loses to the Redskins. Oh and that phat ink he sports.

Yeah, I'm gonna miss that look he gets on his face everytime he thinks a defender is interfering with him and in reality he's standing there crying about it while said defender has intercepted a pass and is running down the field. |

Yeah sure, whatever you say. You say it's fine for Shockey to miss team activities. You've even said it's even fine for Shawn Springs to skip team workouts, but for whatever reason you've decided to have a double standard for Jason Taylor. I don't know why, maybe you're upset you never made it as a Solid Gold dancer. |
