Is Taylor a monster or what?
For those of you who saw the game tonight, is Taylor a monster or what??
PS I'm a little drunk, just reading the postgame and lovin life right about now I think we have ourselves a rookie of the year on our hands |
I agree. He was in every play. He's definitely capable of getting rookie of the year.
|
we definitly do. Hes a beast, he makes plays happen.
|
Incredible. Always around the bal and just seems to come up with it. Finally a Safety
|
we definitly do. Hes a beast, he makes plays happen.
yep, tru dat. Meanwhile, in Denver, LOL - former skins shut-down CB Champ Bailey, playing off his man as he usually does, gave up a long 60+ yard pass play from back up QB Senecca Wallace to Koren Robinson (unfortunately, not a TD) |

Champ is not a corner in the mold of the great corner's of the past, he may be one of the best in the league right now, but IMO he is not a great corner, good, not great. |
look at whats happening here. more validation for us picking taylor. Winslow's causing trouble, runnin his mouth, not makin plays, while taylor has caused atleast one turnover in each game i believe, at least 3 in 3 games
|
i think he's at 8 tackles, 3 ints, 2 FF, 1 TD in limited playing time over 3 games...
you really can't argue with those kind of results... |
look....
<----- I'm sean taylor baby! |

It has gotten very popular to call him a shutdown corner, and one of the best cover backs in the NFL. But that is NOT the way he played throughout last year. Was beaten for very many passes. He is greatly overrated. Denver got a MAJOR screwing in this deal. And, as I have been saying since the deal was announced, it will be a LAUGHER by mid-season. (Except in Denver, where they will be crying at the loss of Portis) |
champ is good, every corner gets beat a bunch, especially when the d-line stinks (hmm...), and they needed a corner (champ is way better than whoever they had), and they still have some decent RBs there, both teams ended up fine (i believe), but i'd take portis for my team any day.
|
and one of the best cover backs in the NFL. But that is NOT the way he played throughout last year
If a QB has THAT long to throw the ball, he'll find someone open, and it might be Champ's guy. Champ was a great player and helped our defense, however with Springs and Taylor back there we won't miss him. Let's go portis! |
o.k., off the topic for one second. how do I get the cool pics below the member name on the posts?
Champ will help the broncs alot but portis will help are team alot more. ya see, i think every body is comparing apples to oranges. if we traded champ for another corner then we can compare the two players. in this case all we can do is talk about which team will benifit more from that particular player. considering the skin's situation, portis will help us win more games than champ will help the broncs win. |

you post a lot to get the nifty pics... and you're saying what i've said before ;) the teams were dealing strengths to fix different weaknesses.

i didnt get to see the game, how did matt bowen play? hes played bad the first 2

I obviously agree about Champ, But I think both Denver, and ourselves are probably sitting in the same type of scenerio, we are able to plug a CB like Spring's into the CB position, which should give us a minimal drop off if any at Champ's position, and give us a better RB in Portis than we had, same goes for Denver, they will plug in another RB and have very little drop off at Portis's spot, and they get a CB in Champ who is better than any one they had, the difference maker in this deal IMO, is the #2 pick we gave up. |

I honestly didn't notice anything that stood out with Bowen. Which I guess is a good sign |
Bowen had one big hit. Otherwise he was always a step behind.
|
I was watching for Bowen, and I thought he looked good at stopping the run; he came in to stuff the hole on at least two occasions that I can remember, and was in on several other tackles as well. As for pass defense, which I've always thought was his weakness, Miami's passing game was so pathetic that they really didn't challenge the secondary much, though they did get a couple over the middle on us, which would presumably be Bowen's area.
Actually, Sportscenter's highlights of the game showed/mocked a play Bowen made against the run in the 1st quarter. While attempting to show how dominant the Skins were against the run, they showed a play where Bowen came up over the top of the pile and flipped all the way over. The quote on Sportscenter was "There goes Matt Bowen, flipping over the pile for no reason at all." Pretty funny. |

Yeah, I saw that too. I figured it was a mock "LaVar Leap" in tribute to the injured Arrington. Next time he should just write #56 on his cleats |
Champ Bailey is the premier cornerback in the NFL and most of you are bitter that he spurned the Redskins this offseason and because of the things he said about the team. He is the best, hands down.
Anyway, Sean Taylor could very well be the defensive rookie of the year, I was anxious to see how he played against starters and he didn't disappoint. I don't care if it was Miami's sorry excuse for an offense or not, Chambers can play football and he got into him a couple of times, forcing another turnover, this kid is insane! |
Taylor's stats speak for themselves, so far. And, as in college, his plays literally CHANGE THE GAME. It's not just what he does, it's when. And that's what makes a serious star in any sport.
But it's early yet, and NFL offenses are for real. He's still got a lot to learn about how to use his talent. But when he does, man! Look out. :headbange |
Sean Taylor is the man! 2 INT's, one for a TD, and 2 FF's in 3 games.....Can you say impact player!!! :headbange

skinsrock, its 3 ints, 2ff 1 td ;) don't go stealing his thunder :D
and its not even full games yet... |

thanks for the info i wonder how well taylor will be for the duration of a game? |
just as good, except hell make more plays.
|

It was interesting to watch the game with Maimi based announcers on the nfl network. One minute they are claiming then redskins are running their first unit againts 3rd teamers and then on their next breath they state their quarterback Jay is in his 5th season with this offsense... |
lol biased announcers suck balls
|
Taylor indeeds looks like the real deal. He's a playmaker and is always around the ball it seems. If he can keep his head on straight, he should be a force for the Skins defense for years to come.
As for Champ, he WAS (key work WAS) one of the premier corners in the league. But he definitely had an off year last year and was beat often as he laid off his man way too far. But the whole team sucked last year so Champ having an off-year playing with that team and for that group of coaches is not that surprising. I look for him to have a really good year for Denver. |
No one ever really seems to be bothered by this as much as me, but... CHAMP DIDN'T LIKE TO TACKLE. Taylor sure as hell seems to enjoy that tiny little part of the game a shit load more.
|
Taylor is the real deal and that is the bottom line.Im not saying that he wont have problems with some of the recievers he faces but he is a natural and wont take long to fill in the rest.
I also watched the game on the nfl network (thank you again seasonticketholder)and found there bias to be blatent and laughable. At the end of the first Quarter they said they had good drives and I was like wich one the first that ended up as a turnover or all the rest that ended with a punt. |
Champ Bailey is the premier cornerback in the NFL and most of you are bitter that he spurned the Redskins this offseason and because of the things he said about the team. He is the best, hands down.
jdlea, I have to respectfully disagree about Champ being the best hands down.. As I've said many times on this subject, he didn't stop the other team from throwing to their #1 receiver, when they did throw that way he didn't make them pay for it.. Ty Law, Chris McAllister, when healthy Charles Woodson are all corners I'd take over Champ.. They make plays to change the game.. His interceptions decreased from his 1st 2 years while his passes defended remained consistent so teams were still throwing his way with the same regularity.. He has 1 career sack and 4 career fumble recoveries and 1 career TD in his rookie year. That is a good, but not great, corner in the NFL and certainly not the best. |
>Ty Law, Chris McAllister, when healthy Charles Woodson
don't those guys work with better D-lines??? our defense was on the field a long time each game, and our pass rush sucked, and both of those things makes corners look worse than they are... |
I seem to remember us having a dodgy D and an aneamic O during the Norv years. However, I still remember DG returning passes for TD's and shutting WR's down.
I'm not saying Bailey isn't good, but a shutdown corner is still a shutdown corner regardless of the rest of the D. |
Taylor brings an element to the D that Champ never brought, he makes plays that change the course and momentum of the game.
Champ is a top corner without a doubt, but he hardly ever made the big pick to stop a drive, or take a pick back for a TD. Taylor has forced at least one turnover in each game so far. I know he's just a rook and he's going to have his adjustment period, but his playmaking skills have already been on full display. |
Taylor brings an element to the D that Champ never brought, he makes plays that change the course and momentum of the game.
I agree completely - in fact he brings several elements. Champ was weak when he had to come up against the run. Taylor is built and hits like a LB. He is a ball hawk - all over the field. And the play that amazed me the most, was Taylor staying right with Chambers, their #1 WR, all the way into the end zone. For a guy with that build, he has amazing cover skills. And lastly, he has AMAZING reflexes. did you notice how fast he grabbed that fumble off the ground? Most players don't SEE it that fast, let alone react that quickly. I know it's early and we've just seen him on the field very little, but this guy seems truely amazing. |
The only thing I disagree with is Champ's tackling. For a corner he was a pretty solid tackler, I know he said that he didn't like to do it, but he wasn't afraid to stick his nose in a play, not like Deion who seemed to be literally afraid of contact.
Also, comparing a safety and a corner in the tackling department really isn't fair. A safety is supposed to be able to tackle and support the run D, while a corner doesn't play into the run D as heavily as the safety. |
skinsrock, its 3 ints, 2ff 1 td ;) don't go stealing his thunder :D
No, I think skinsrock is right. I only remember 2 INTs--both from the Denver game. Where's the third? |
