What will you be watching for this preseason?
I have always watched the preseason games. The last couple of years have been pretty much meaningless because of our lack of draft picks. The preseason is the time to watch the young guys battle for roster spots. I am really excited about the games coming up in the next couple of weeks so we can watch our young guys and see what they are made of.
I was really amped to see the WR group but that really won't be the case in our first game due to injuries. Still there will be plenty of players to watch this weekend. Brennan, Rhinehart, Horton, Tryon, and Davis just to name a few. Hell, even punts will be worth watching. Who are the players you are most wanting to see in game action on Sunday? |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
good morning gigitty. and im excited about our new wide outs, and the offense as a whole
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'm looking to see how crisp the offense is, and I want to see what the D-line is capable of now that it's quicker (and lighter).
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'm excited to see how Colt Brennan does
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
A composed and well functioning Offense, a driven and violent Defense, Special Teams that give a field position edge and Coaching Staff that 'get' it.
That'll do. |

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'm going to watch the medical staff remain on the sidelines.
Seriously, I'm very interested to see how Todd Collins performs in a different offense. He should get plenty of reps in for us to judge his football worthiness when Saunders isn't around. Also, would very much like to see our starting offensive line take care of business and showcase to the rest of the NFL what it can do when they are all healthy and hungry. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
All I'm concerned about in the preseason is that everyone looks to be in shape and everyone stays healthy. I'll leave my observations for September.

I second that! |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
In this game with so many starters out, and with so few reps going to the starters who do play, not a whole lot of conclusions can be drawn from this game.
I do want to get a look at Leigh Torrence and Tryon to see how well they cover. Until Rogers is 100%, we'll need one of them to step into the nickel role, so that's critical. If these guys can't handle the Colts #4 and #5 WRs, then that's not a great sign. I'm assuming our offense will be a mess, and I'm alright with that at this stage. I'll judge the offense in the 3rd and 4th preseason games. The biggest thing though: NO INJURIES for God's sake. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
Good Morning Everyone,
I'm also curious on how the offense will look. I want to see how well Zorn can call plays. I'm curious how J.C. is going to look. I also want to see how well J.T. will do with the skins. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'm looking forward to seeing the offense and how well some of the young guys, like Heyer, Rinehard & Crummey, on the O-line play
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'm not sure we're going to get much of a look at the first team offense until the season starts. Sounds like Zorn isn't against holding out key guys and of course there's the injury situation which limits what he can do.

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I want to see all players grasping the offense. If it's a vanilla offense and the team can't run it, there's an issue. I dont care if it's first team or 2nd team. Looking forward to seeing all the rookies. Brooks, Rheinhart, Tryon, Davis especially. I also hope to see Marcus Mason running the rock.
Matty, along with injuries limiting what he can do, the smaller rosters limit him from playing a ton of no name players. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I just want to see some Redskin Football it's been six months, and did i miss it.
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
First I want to see all our starters make it through this time of year healthy and injury free. I'm really interested in what our O will look like under Zorn. I know we probably will not see too much until the 3rd and 4th preseason game if we even see him open it up much then.
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
Im just looking to see us make it through the pre-season without any major injuries....and maybe see a little of what this offense has in the tank and not to mention a glimpse of what we are getting with JT would do it too.
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
On D, Torrence & Tryon, maybe Wilson too if he gets some good time. Would like one of those reserve LBs to make an impression. ST. Clair? Also, Rob Jackson at DE, he should get plenty of reps.
On O, the 2 & 3 qb's will be interesting to watch. Talk about a contrast in circumstances; one is old in a new system, and one is a rookie. I'd like to see how they play the backup O-line; Heyer at LT, Rinehart at LG? Who will play C? Of course, I'm eager to see the wr's just like most of us are, but if Kelly's hamstring is a little sore I imagine he sits out as well. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I want to see how Jim Zorn behaves on the sidelines as a head coach. Will he be a stoic overseer a la Gibbs/Holmgren? Or more animated and in-your-face a la Cowher/Gruden?
|

Tell me about it.. And god, no more injuries (at least, not major ones)!! |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'm looking forward to seeing what Kelly, Thomas, and Davis can do. I'm also interested to see how Colt Brennan does, since we'll be seeing him alot, early.
I will be nice to see some football, but we just can't draw too much from the preseason. Although, we have drawn one important conclusion from prior preseasons...our backups were horrible. We found out that was accurate. Now that we have some draft picks it's a little more interesting. |

If Manning were healthy, they'd play him MAYBE a series anyway. So it's all we have to go on. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
The punters. :D

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
With Kelly and Thomas both out this weekend, isn't anyone excited to see the awesomeness of Anthony Mix?
|

I believe Mix is sitting out as well. |

oh....um...the awesomeness of Billy McMullen? |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'd like to see if this team has a new attitude. I remember two years ago when we ended up with a losing record, the team lost all of their pre-season games...and there was a non-chalant attitude from the coaches about not winning a single pre-season game. Granted that pre-season is not the regular season, but I'd like to see this team to have a winning attitude (especially those players that are competing for a spot on the roster).

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I want to see how well the offense takes to Zorn's passing game. Also curious to get a glimpse of how Zorn will call games. Would like to see the D play well.
More than anything right now...would like to see no more injuries. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
I'll be watching all the preseason games. I look at a lot of things. My key points include:
1. Watching the rookies 2. Watching the young guys, not including rookies 3. Watching the offense to see how well they are adjusting to the WCO. 4. Watching the defense to see how well Jason Taylor is adjusting, and seeing how good our depth is. 5. Watching the punting battle between Brooks and Frost. 6. Watching to see if Suisham is inconsistent as ever. 7. Watching to see how well the water boys do their job. Okay I made that last one up. Last but certainly not least, I'll be watching just because I haven't watched football in almost 6 months and I miss it. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
Watching the WR corps; with the injuries, Billy Mac is looking good.
We have corners practicing reps at safety and we drafted two safeties? Need to keep my eyes on the safety battle. Also, will watch the 3rd QB battle; Brennan vs Devine. Both are doing good things and making a few mistakes. |

I can see JZ being pretty animated, seeing as he ran down Smoot after an INT during OTAs and with his dodgeball drill. He just seems like a character. I think he'll be pretty into it on the sidelines. I wasn't all that intrigued by how handles himself on the sideline before you mentioned it, but now, I am. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
1. I will be watching the receivers. Somebody that may not deserve to get cut has to go because don't second round picks have to make the team or else Cerrato looks a fool? Moss, Randle-El, Kelly, Thomas, and maybe 2 more. Thrash and Mix? Zorn seems to have already developed the same affection for J.T. that Gibbs had.
2. The punting duel. I worry that the new guy could have a hot pre-season, win the job, and then go in the crapper. I hope they factor Frost's history into the equation. Anybody can have a few good games. 3. Safety. I hope Doughty comes through, but speed can't be learned. I think it's a potential weakness. 4. Can the O-line stay healthy? If so, I look for Portis to run roughshod over the league. 5. Time for Campbell to do it. No more excuses, He's a vet now. If he's the deal, he has to do it now. 6. And of course I'll be looking to ridicule the television broadcast, naturally. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
1. INJURIES!!!!
2. How JC learns the west coast offense 3. The Strong Safety position. Who will it be? Schweigert, Doughty, Moore, or Horton 4. Watching how Jason Taylor will fit at left end. 5. How the rookies adjust to the west coast offense. ex: Thomas, Davis, Kelley |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
Im excited to see EL become our own faster version of Welker in the slot.
|
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
The guys on the OL both the starters and rookies/FA.....
The Offense in game action..hope to see them play the bulk of the first team till half time The Safety & LB position. Schweigert, Doughty, Moore, or Horton, Sinclair, *Gatewood* The offensive rookies: Thomas, Davis, Kelley,Crumney, Reinhart, even Mix & Burl Toler |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
In no particular order:
Colt Brennan No injuries Tryon Kelly, Thomas & Davis No injuries |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
Like everyone else has said before me, first and foremost I would like to see NO INJURIES.
That being said I was looking forward to seeing our new slew of receivers, especially Thomas. I'm also looking forward to seeing Durant Brooks do some punting, I'm really pulling for him in that competition. And I want to see Colt Brennan get in there a bit, just see him strut his stuff a bit. |
Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?
all im looking for is PAIN (sorry Malcolm)
