Sean Taylor
Does anyone know if the Redskins are going to have a tribute or an event to remember Sean Taylor in any way this season. If so what and when.
RIP Sean Taylor April 1, 1983 - November 27, 2007 |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
Sorry man but I doubt it. They might do something on the 1 year anniversary of his passing, idk.
I'm not trying to be mean here but they gave him a proper tribute during last season, everybody knows he's gone but he's not forgotten. They aren't going to keep bringing it up every season, it's time to let him rest in peace. |

Feel free to visit it any time. |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
I think Larry Michael said that the team would be doing something this season, but what/when has not been determined. He said this a few days ago on Redskins Nation.

RIP Sean Taylor April 1, 1983 - November 27, 2007
What hasn't the team done already?...and why do you think there is a need for more? Taylor's passing took place a while ago and there was funereal and everything. I don't know if you missed it, but a number of things were done to commerate the life of Sean Taylor. His memory alone inspires people on many different levels. Do you not feel closure yet or are you looking for the personal entertainment value of another tribute. I feel the loss like the next guy but to ask what the Redskins are going to do next to commerate Sean is saying that they haven't done enough already. They gave a great memorial and have to deal with loss like everyone else, by giving it closure. I loved watching the guy, let him rest in peace. |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
Zorn was asked this question in a press conference. Im paraphrasing what he said now, but basically we'll never forget Sean, and what happened was a tragedy, but we're moving on as a team. We won't be holding anything special for Sean. Basically, I feel like we've done a ton already, Snyder has shown a bunch of class. But I agree with Zorn, time to move forward and just remember Sean Taylor as a person and we need to do it as individuals.

Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
Also I think I heard that his locker would remain as he left it and encased to preserve it.

I was not saying that they needed to do more for him. All I did was ask if they would do some type of thing, and it really was not that long ago (only last season). So I was just wondering if they were going to do something this season that's all. Don't make more out of what I asked. I loved watching him too. But Larry Michael did say they would do something. I mainly wanted to know what. |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
I would think sometime in November they'll do something to honor him.
|
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
Maybe they will retire his number and that's it. I'm in agreement with a majority of the people on here. I miss Sean, just as much as the next person, but we need to let him rest in peace. His teammates miss him, as well, and I'm sure they don't need any more of a reminder than the one they have in their locker room.
|
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
Maybe the week of the anniversary, they'll break out the #21 stickers for the helmets again.

Can I ask why they would retire his number, don't you think Art or Daryl's # should be retired first? |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
I did not know ST as a person but did know him as a player and I just can't help to think what he would have become on the field everytime I see one of his re-plays.
|
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
Honestly, I don't think they need to retire his number. There is no player that is going to come in here in the next 10 years and even consider dawning that number.
|
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
i still get goose bumps about what it would be like with him and LaRon back there lurking. watching laron makes me love him more just because i know he learned things from sean, you can tell just by that attitude and swagger he has out there which is i dont care who you are i will still rock your ass. He cant replace sean but hes the damn closest thing. i like to think of him as Sean's protege so to speak.

i agree. nobody will have the nerve to do that. they know they wont do sean taylors number justice. also seanT's teamates wont allow it especially his boys CP and santana |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
Even Portis didn't feel worthy of wearing it and he's our best player, so no one will even try.

^
It hasn't even been a year yet. I see nothing wrong with honoring him on the first anniversary. He was greatly loved by teammates and fans and was bound for the HOF someday. It was a huge loss on both personal and team levels. |

His locker is still preserved at Redskins Park and Cooley and ARE said the other day on Sirius that Taylor is still very much in their thoughts and he will continue to be. Just because it's a new season it doesn't mean they've forgotten him and they will continue to play for him. |

Sean Taylor Honored in Miami Amy Shipley sends this item from Miami: Former teammates and coaches of Sean Taylor have been invited to attend the first-annual Sean Taylor Classic at the University of Miami Nov. 8-9, the Greater Miami Pop Warner League announced Wednesday. Taylor, who died last November of a gunshot wound after intruders broke into his Miami home, got his start in football with the local league, which renamed its annual bowl weekend--now in its 37th season--to honor Taylor's memory. Former teammates and coaches from Miami's Gulliver Prep, the University of Miami and Washington Redskins are invited to participate in the Nov. 8 opening ceremony at Cobb Stadium, which will kick off a two-day, nine-game event. Donations are also requested to help defray the $15,000 in events costs for officials, trophies, bleachers, medical personnel and others. Those interested in donating or attending should contact Frank Gowan, the president of the Greater Miami Pop Warner League at fgowin@kbmco.com. Tax-deductable donations should be made payable to Greater Miami Pop Warner League, Inc., c/o Frank Gowin, 8700 SW 159 Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
That sounds like a great thing to do. I have no doubts it will get plenty of support.

Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
At FedEx they still have the big Sean Taylor sign hanging over the club level in one of the endzones. I'm guessing this will be permanent.

Agreed. Anyone coming into the organization would know that "21" is already taken. |
Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
I think ST will always be remembered. IMO he was well on his way to becoming the greatest safety to ever play the game. He inspired people with his play and his passion. It still hurts. Moving on does'nt mean he won't always be in our hearts. God bless those who still feel the pain of losing him. He was a tremendous talent, and I'm sure a tremendous teammate and friend to those fortunate enough to have known him. RIP #21

Re: Remembering Sean Taylor?
It worked for me.
As far as the ST thing, it is very common to have a memorial gathering on the one year anniversary of a death to help the people who knew someone through what will be a difficult time. He will be weighing heavily on everyones mind and I heard at some point they were going to be doing something for him. I'm sure it will be around the one year mark. Also please watch the tone around this subject. No one needs to be "called out" for asking a question like this... even if the question doesn't make sense to you. |
