Who is the one underdog you're rooting for to make the team?

After last week I'm rooting for Mason even though he's a long shot. Still, a few more strong showings and perhaps he'll force the coaches to find him a spot.

That guy who was wearing Ladel Betts's Jersey number. (Name being Referenced). Alfred Fincher. He had a couple of solid plays last Sunday. We need depth and youth at LB; I think he can help.

Nice thread. I was thinking of starting a similar one under the title "Adopt a Redskin"

I would have definitely said Buzbee a month ago. Now? I really like what I've seen so far from (and heard about) Leigh Torrence and Chris Horton. But I think both legitimately have a very strong chance of making the team

So I'll go with a real longshot, LB Curtis Gatewood (with Maurice Mann, Burl Toler, and Matt Sinclair all getting consideration)

Curtis Gatewood it is

Please, with all the man-crushes on Colt Brennan? That's unlikely to happen. LOL.

I hear that new guy, #55, who sat out last week's game, has a shot!

j/k

I'm pulling for D. Brooks. Frosty out! 6th rounders don't always make the team. Haven't seen enough of the FAs yet.

Marcus Mason is an obvious choice, but right now I want the team to find a way to get Rob Jackson a roster spot. He seems to be making headway, he started the Hall of Game and drew praise from Jason Tayor so he must be doing something right. Oh yeah, can't forget my boy Crummey.

I was rooting for Westbrook at one time (ties to Dematha). Sadly, the coaching staff and the press have not mentioned much about him this training camp. This leads me to believe that he is either a lost cause or practice squad at best (again).
Rob Jackson.
This is who I was thinking of. He impressed me alot on Sunday. I even give him credit for the sack where he was lined up in the nuetral zone. He has one hell of a burst. Jason Taylor isn't going to be around long and it would be nice if RJ could fill that role.

good thread.

it seems like the team has already decided to keep him (considering he's still not even healthy enough to practice). but i'm rooting hard for erasmus james to EARN the primary backup spot once he's healthy.

other than him, kareem moore, baby!

Re: Who is the one underdog you're rooting for to make the team?

Right now, its got to be Billy McMullen. I know its going to be hard for him to make it since we drafted two other wide recievers, but he did look very good in the hall of fame game and I heard good things about him in the scrimmage too.

I'm going with Andrew Crummey, this team has no real depth at center and I'd like to see him be the backup there rather than Jon Jansen.

I think they scrapped the Jansen experiment and it would be Kendall that would fill in there.

Re: Who is the one underdog you're rooting for to make the team?

Tavares Washington

1) for starter's, we need another "washington" & one on O.
2) I recall reading about him when he was signed. Guy w/some upside but hasn't developed the skills yet
3) I think at this point safety & cb look much better than maybe we thought pre-camp. Now the positions we lack depth in are LB & O line. We'll need rinehart & one of these other guys to step up this year & provide depth a la Heyer last year, then hopefully start in a couple years.

Cant make up my mind I'll go with these three guys Alfred Fincher, Andrew Crummey, Matterial Richardson...and by the way I think all three will make the practice squad....

I agree with you on LB but I think we're fine on the O-Line. Personally I think the only think they need to work on is pass protection and they didn't do SO bad last week. Collins was the only one who struggled against the rush and that might have been because of the fact that he held on to the ball to long.

However with Rhinehart, Heyer, Fabini, Wade, and Brown (although he's on IR) I'd say we have one of the better second units in the league. Plus the running game was pretty solid last week. So solid that Marcus Mason was quoted as saying
"I wasn't thinking about 100 yards," said Mason, the Redskins' second-year running back. "The way my offensive line was blocking, I was thinking about 150, 160. Something like that."
Still 4 sacks is to much for my taste.

Re: Who is the one underdog you're rooting for to make the team?

Cedrick Holt. He has virtually no shot, he's a second year CB from North Carolina. Seeing as I follow Tar Heel football, I want to see him make it.

Alfred Fincher played well in limited minutes during the Colts game, I hope he gets a chance.
