1st cuts - August 31
One week from today is the first round of cuts.
The Redskins must get down to 65. Right now the roster count is 91 (according to Redskins.com). Who stays:cool:? Who follows Jimoh out of town  ? |
Laddell Betts and Cliff Russell.
|
Laddell Betts and Cliff Russell.
I agree. I think it's safe to add Cloman to that list. |
Has Betts ever been healthy? he deserves to be cut...the other RB's bust there ass in training camp every year only to have this guy w/ "potential" keep making the team. I've had it with Betts. get him out of here adn give one of these other backs a chance.
|
I'd hate to see Cloman go, I don't think he's been given a fair shot in games. Last year at training camp he seemed like the favorite receiver.

i would like to see stempke stay, he's definately out punted tupa. cut tupa.
i think garnell wilds will stay for his special teams ability. walt harris will probably be gone. |
Sultan McCullough should be on the regular season roster as the primary backup to Portis. Ladell Betts is expendable in part because we can trade him for a mid to late round draft choice.
|

They'd take an immediate cap hit plus they are thin at CB to begin with. No chance whatsoever they cut him. They keep him even if they have to amputate his left leg off. |
Kheri Cambell has played excellent at linebacker!
|
mcollough is kind of a crapper portis, i don't really think he'll be around... tupa is staying though... he can fake and throw passes, and he's hall's holder...

While I agree that it is unlikely that Harris gets cut, I don't think they take a cap hit. As I recall, the deal he signed was contingent on his making the final roster. I may be wrong on that one. Also, on a side note: When was the last time that the Skins had enough depth to be looking at cutting guys on the first cut who could be NFL players (not necessarily starters but good back up types? Don't recall that debate last year. |

He is physical enough to play both TE positions and fullback. Gibbs likes him. It becomes a question of do they keep Sellers or Kozlowski? Kozlowski is getting old, but he is a smart player. Sellers is younger but mabe not as crafty Kozlowski....so? |

I still think he makes the squad. Even hurt he is better than Jimoh and Bauman apparently. |
I dont think hes better the Bauman, I thought they liked him as the third option
|
I think Scott will make this team! at the very least make it till the final cut then on to the five man squad if someone dosen't get him first!
|
sellers, and koz with both stay i believe, but mccolough has to go i hate him. stempke would be nice to have on the PS. Harris, Bauman, Smoot, Springs, Ralph brown, and maybe 1 more corner, not Ade, or i will start a petition to get his ass cut!
|
Wow Big C... in looking at your signature, I didn't know that Joe Gibbs and Al Davis and Bob Marley were all the same person.
And I have no doubt they'll cut Sultan just because you "hate him". ;) |
Practice squad is 8 players this year... I'm with Daseal on this one...Cloman has definitely not gotten the work that recievers like Gari Scott have gotten in the preseason. Suprisingly it seems not a lot of throws are coming his way, even when he "does" get in the game.. I'm surprised Hamden hasn't been getting a look either..

Or in Cpayne's "My last name is Gibbs and I always know what I'm talking about" Wouldn't that be great if that was why they cut Sultan. Gibbs: "Well sure he can play but Big C just plain hates him so he had to go...next question, yes you in the back with the Ade Jimoh Fan Club t-shirt" |

Hmmm... I think you may be on to something there, Smooty. How do these sound? "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" - Joe Gibbs "Four score and seven years ago...." - Joe Gibbs "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal." - Joe Gibbs "There's a lady who's sure, all that glitters is gold" - Joe Gibbs "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" - Joe Gibbs "Ich bin ein Berliner" - Joe Gibbs And the obligitory: "Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein." -- Joe Gibbs |
And don't forget:
"Bitch set me up"-Joe Gibbs |
...and don't forget SkinsNCanes' sig:
"I'm used to winning, coming from the Washington Redskins. " - Joe Gibbs :silly: |
"I'm Joe Gibbs, bitch"

Dear God, I think I may have inadvertently created a monster here. Thanks Big C!!

"I met a traveler from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read, Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed, And on the pedestal these words appear: "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look upon my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away." What was this thread initially about again?
Oh yeah, first cuts. I'm going to say Jafar Williams lasts longer than Gari Scott. Apparently, and I guess I just haven't been watching the games closely enough, Williams has really been outplaying Scott on special teams. In fact, maybe Williams makes it as the #6 WR "Loosen up Sandy baby"-Joe Gibbs |
